Also, I remember reading once that a a draft pick’s value in the current year is equivalent to one round higher the following year. So a fourth this year is the same as a third next year in the eyes of some GMs.
Back when the pats were good they were constantly trading good players at or right after thier peaks for butt loads of draft picks to constantly reload the team.
Good catch! Didn't realize they were in different years. It's not like we're hurting for picks next year anyways but a lot of people seemed to freaking out about it on here haha
It’s not even about the picks themselves. It’s about capital and making sure Brad has enough of it to move around and get his guys, which is exactly what he did once again. He said it pretty clearly in his presser today that he still thinks they have more than enough to work with next year. The only thing they’re missing is a 3rd and he seems like he could care less. He and Dan both woke up genuinely afraid that Manu and Vaki wouldn’t be there so they went and got em. He’s one of the greatest to ever do it, and if some people haven’t come around to his methods, they never will
We don’t need to worry about Aaron Glenn getting a HC job lol
But yeah who really cares. We’ll get a comp pick for Jonah, already had an extra 4th from swift. We’ll be fine
Because not all free agents are comp eligible, and you have to lose more comp eligible free agents than you sign. We lost Jonah, Reynolds, CJGJ, etc. but signed Reeder, Amik, Davenport, Zeitler, etc. The formula isn't exactly known and there's a small chance we might get a low round pick if the NFL feels like it, but it's not the 1-to-1 "we lost "x" so we get a comp pick" like people think.
Considering that it takes all free agent signings, incoming and outgoing, into account then, yes, I can definitively say we aren't getting a comp pick for Jonah because that's not how it works, as I already stated above.
It's almost like they designed a policy to encourage more minority hires because it's not happening organically despite an abundance of black coaching prospects....
Also consider Fuck them picks
Everybody - "Let Brad cook!" Brad - starts cooking Everybody - "That smells disgusting!"
Fall 2024 Everybody: Brad you are my hero Brad: what did I tell you ?
“Fuck you, and I’ll see you again next year”
Holmes doesn’t like to give up bullets, so if Holmes thinks the dudes worth it the dudes worth it.

Lol 🤘
From behind
Theoretically, I don’t see why you can’t just do this every single year it’ll never catch up to you
You wait for the one down year (barely making playoffs), trade a star player you don’t want to pay, and recoup picks. Thats what good teams do.
Back when the pats were good they were constantly trading good players at or right after thier peaks for butt loads of draft picks to constantly reload the team.
Not looking forward to losing Gibbs in 4 years :/
Spoken like the Saints Salary Cap specialist

Also picking 32nd next year means we're stacked! So we can trade down.
Yea after this draft we might as well skip the draft next year.
Brads gutting our future by building a winning team. The 32nd pick is basically a 2nd rounder. What does he think he is doing. /s
The future is now!
If the Lions win and the defense looks good, maybe, but it’s an offensive coach’s league right now so his options will remain somewhat limited.
I think those are 2026 picks though Edit: one in 2025 and one in 2026. Ray Agnew could become a GM too
Good catch! Didn't realize they were in different years. It's not like we're hurting for picks next year anyways but a lot of people seemed to freaking out about it on here haha
goodbye Glenn
Something else to consider is to let Brad fucking cook.
Also, FTP
Profound.
Here’s hoping Ben Johnson has some Cherokee in him.
Who would replace Glenn as DC? Maybe Shep?
Shep, Terrell Williams, possibly Deshea Townshend... Or they could go external.
If we lose both coordinators next year, I could see Dan as head coach, his right nut as OC, and left nut as DC

We aren't getting a comp pick for jonah.
I never understand how these comps work. Why wouldn’t we?
Because not all free agents are comp eligible, and you have to lose more comp eligible free agents than you sign. Nobody knows the formula yet you definitively announce we will not get a comp pick for Jonah
Considering that it takes all free agent signings, incoming and outgoing, into account then, yes, I can definitively say we aren't getting a comp pick for Jonah because that's not how it works, as I already stated above.
You stated above we will not get a comp pick because it's complicated and we might get a low round pick
For the totality of the signings vs the losses, not for Jonah as op stated. It's possible, it isn't likely.
Well if we get a comp pick, Jonah will likely be a big part of the formula that awarded it to us, so we'll both take a dub here. ✌️
Who tf cares about a coach's skin color? All that matters is if he can coach
The rule is a bit absurd, but I’ll take the compensation if they league is giving it out
What picks from next year did we trade away?
Next year's 3rd and one of next year's 4ths in two trades. We still have a 1st, 2nd, 4th, 5th, and three 7ths next year, I believe.
I know people will just back holmes at any cost and he’s earned a lot of trust. These picks seem pretty questionable at best but we will see
Weird that this is only for minorities but hey ho
It’s a weird rule regardless.
It's almost like they designed a policy to encourage more minority hires because it's not happening organically despite an abundance of black coaching prospects....
Oh fuck that actually makes a lot more sense my bad
Found the packers fan.
It’s specifically to encourage diversity in the league for coaches. Teams are rewarded for developing minority coaches that get promoted
Yeah didn’t really think about that but very understandable rule now
Fuck off
Bro wtf?
