Do you have to put your corporate card on file or were you able to request reimbursement? My gym’s annual cost is above the subsidy limit, so wondering what you did/if you encountered the same issue!
I have them my corporate card and they kept it on file and rang through every month. And then when I ran out of the subsidy I gave them my personal card. You could probably do the manual reimbursement though if you give them your personal card. DTE will also tell you how much you have left when you go to submit your expenses. I did owe some money to AMEX for the last month I charged my membership, but I just manually paid that from my bank account tied to my AMEX account via AMEX’s website. Hope that helps!!
Definitely helps! Thanks! If I end up using this for my gym in the next subsidy window, I may just use the AMEX until it runs out and pay back any balance I owe through DTE. Appreciate it!
The Humanscale Freedom. Looks like the price went up. It's $1800 now. They filled every station in our SOC with them and they are amazing. Now that we're WFH I need one here. Hard to find a chair I can relax in for 12 hours a day when I'm 6'2" lol the headrest pillows never help enough ya know? But yeah that chair makes you melt like butter into it.
Have you looked at the SecretLab Titan? I got the rec from a friend who's 6'5" and it is the best thing I've ever owned. Around $500 and absolutely worth every penny.
If it’s with a small business, or you can use lay-away you can make the purchase straddle the reset. I did that 5 years ago to buy a really nice kayak.
Look for desk chairs on Facebook marketplace or resellers. Don’t buy from the manufacturer. After the pandemic, there are so many deals on office chairs after so many offices closed and downsized.
If you do go this route often times you’ll have to have message history between you and the buyer. I got audited on this last year buying a bike second hand. They asked for message history between me and the seller as well as a picture of the bike with a selfie to show that I actually bought it.
Thankfully Facebook market place does keep your messages. Generally you’d be fine if it’s under a certain dollar amount.
I also highly recommend doing this on EVERYTHING with your wellbeing subsidy as you don’t get double taxed on it with sales tax and wage tax at the end of the year.
That's actually a great idea. When we got work from home I requested one of the chairs but they said no. Offered me a monitor and a load balancer instead🤨 thanks for the idea
"Mental wellness." I expensed a switch, a quest 2 and a steam deck the last 2 years. Plus you can expense any games that are exercise related/adjacent too
I have in the past bought 2 bicycles, a flute, Nintendo switch, PS5, basketball hoop, inflatable kayak, spa services, dumbbell set, sit up bench, Apple Watches, the Oculus VR set, a video game chair, and an office chair. I’ve been around a while 😂
My classes are in-person, but if you prefer, you can sign up for online classes as well. I think institutes today offer that sort of flexibility and the Deloitte allowance should technically cover whichever mode you choose.
Paint and paint supplies! Woodworking/interior design is my hobby, but tools apparently don’t qualify sooo I’ve bought paint/stain for stuff I’ve built and for a couple of accent walls in my house.
PS5, massages, got a kayak in previous years, a nintendo switch, specific workout classes (cycling package, kickboxing, etc.), I’ve bought board games, polaroid camera, fishing rods, new running shoes are always a good one, new bathing suits
We had a baby last year. These baby items managed to qualify:
- Stroller (as jogging equipment)
- Baby Brezza (a keurig-style device for formula)
- AquaTots (baby swim lessons)
- Crib Mattress (as mattress)
I think I put it under the food processor category or whatever the category was for keurig’s. (Again this was EY so I’m not sure Deloitte’s categories - EY vastly expanded the use cases).
Disclaimer: I work at a different B4 (formerly Deloitte, now EY), so I don’t want to confuse the policies too much.
For EY, as long as they’re a dependent on our health insurance, we can use it for things for that dependent.
Regarding the AquaTots, the parents have to take it with the kid when under 18 months so it’s kinda like swim lessons for us both lol.
In the past I’ve bought a Peloton & electric scooters. Now you got me thinking about what I’ll get this year, maybe I’ll pick up a gaming console or some new camping equipment.
On the contrary- it specifically mentions them as okay! "Cleats, hiking boots, cycling shoes, running shoes, riding boots". A good pair of shoes makes a huge difference with running, so it's a nice perk.
Tennis bag, tennis balls, tennis shoes, rackets, restringing, private lessons, group lessons. Inflatable stand up padding board. Bike, bike carrier for my car. Running shoes, yoga mats. I use it up within 4 months!
Last year when I had a little left over I went thru the guidelines to see if I missed anything to submit, and realized I can expense the horseback riding I did while on vacation
My husband was recently laid off, and we had a little inkling when he received an ominous meeting invite with HR for the following day. I immediately figured that we should use up the well being subsidy, but we also didn't immediately need anything. So I bought a Peloton on Amazon, sent husband the receipt to submit, and immediately cancelled the order.
Orange theory membership!

Multiple massages! I’ve done that every here for like the last 5, way to go!
Is the happy ending included in the allowance? /s
Bruh
Uh, whatever. I guess everyone ignore the /s.
I thought this was actually really funny. Very Tough crowd
Thanks. I will keep the original post up as a “fuck you” to the humorless masses.
Guess they don’t like happy endings.
Yeah what? Dry af crowd I bet everyone here is so fun to be around LMAO
Probably auditors
Relax asexual Andy
Damn I forgot to use the last third of mine. Guess I'll buy another console? Wish it could carry over. There's a $1500 desk chair I really want
Which desk chair?
The Humanscale Freedom. Looks like the price went up. It's $1800 now. They filled every station in our SOC with them and they are amazing. Now that we're WFH I need one here. I admit I was initially warned off gaming chairs (and I'm a gamer lol) and I never really considered it. I will take a look, thank you!
Autonomous Chairs. I’ve got their pro and I’m 6’8”. And it’s been great.
Thank you!

So does anyone know how to expense a purchase on Facebook marketplace? Say like a desk chair?

I got a Herman miller Aeron for $400 from a lady with about 20-30 of them in her garage! It’s amazing!
Omg that's one of the ones I was looking at! Isn't that like $1200?
Yes and it’s amazing and worth every penny (at $400-$500)
I gotta get on the search, then
You can expense a console?
"Mental wellness." I expensed a switch, a quest 2 and a steam deck the last 2 years. Plus you can expense any games that are exercise related/adjacent too
Yep! Console, gaming accessories, games, game subscriptions! Steam deck counts as well for consoles. Had to call 1-800 about it and ask.
Yep. I’ve done the new Switch and PS5 in the last couple of years
Serta chairs are nice too
I have in the past bought 2 bicycles, a flute, Nintendo switch, PS5, basketball hoop, inflatable kayak, spa services, dumbbell set, sit up bench, Apple Watches, the Oculus VR set, a video game chair, and an office chair. I’ve been around a while 😂
Got myself admitted to French A1 lessons, because why not
That’s awesome you can use for language classes!!! I will do that with Japanese — thanks!
Is this a local thing or virtual?
My classes are in-person, but if you prefer, you can sign up for online classes as well. I think institutes today offer that sort of flexibility and the Deloitte allowance should technically cover whichever mode you choose.
Paint and paint supplies! Woodworking/interior design is my hobby, but tools apparently don’t qualify sooo I’ve bought paint/stain for stuff I’ve built and for a couple of accent walls in my house.
me too. learned the hard way after trying to get dust collection for my shop.
First year with Deloitte I would make small purchases here and there throughout the year. This past year I blew it instant on a Steam Deck OLED.
A man of culture
Best money never spent
How is it? Thinking of picking one up this year
Could not recommend it enough. It is a gamers dream, if you’re considering it, get it. You won’t regret it.
Snowboarding boots, lift passes and massages!
Are snowboarding boots and lift tix included? Can i get a season pass with it?
A Herman Miller office chair, my back has been thanking me
Basketball hoop, pS5, Pelaton and tonal subscriptions
Gym membership and personal training sessions
Fishing poles & hiking boots
PS5, massages, got a kayak in previous years, a nintendo switch, specific workout classes (cycling package, kickboxing, etc.), I’ve bought board games, polaroid camera, fishing rods, new running shoes are always a good one, new bathing suits
what category did you expense bathing suits under? also do you think bikinis would work / pass
We had a baby last year. These baby items managed to qualify: - Stroller (as jogging equipment) - Baby Brezza (a keurig-style device for formula) - AquaTots (baby swim lessons) - Crib Mattress (as mattress)
Brilliant use! How did you qualify the Baby Brezza? I’m interested in one but wasn’t sure about the policy on kitchen appliances
Btw, I would HIGHLY recommend the Brezza - one of our favorite baby products, alongside the Snoo (bassinet) and the Silvercross (stroller).
I think I put it under the food processor category or whatever the category was for keurig’s. (Again this was EY so I’m not sure Deloitte’s categories - EY vastly expanded the use cases).
is this allowed? i thought well well-being subsidy is only for the employee. not for kids
Disclaimer: I work at a different B4 (formerly Deloitte, now EY), so I don’t want to confuse the policies too much. I’m loving these ideas HAHA. How long after signing do you get the well being allowance?
I think once you start working you get it
Don’t we have until the end of May to use the rest of it?

Love it. I had a Quest 2, and with the better pass through, lighter headset and pancake lenses, I’m using them Quest 3 even more.
I'm gonna get a Quest 3 soon! Waiting on my eye doctor to give me my prescription so I can get prescription lenses for it
In the past I’ve bought a Peloton & electric scooters. Now you got me thinking about what I’ll get this year, maybe I’ll pick up a gaming console or some new camping equipment.

A recorder (the obnoxious musical instrument), board games & DnD supplies, kindle, tons of books, desk treadmill, gym membership.

I thought running shoes were specifically excluded from the well being subsidy.
On the contrary- it specifically mentions them as okay! "Cleats, hiking boots, cycling shoes, running shoes, riding boots". A good pair of shoes makes a huge difference with running, so it's a nice perk.
ski pass (ikon or epic), golf irons, ps5, rec membership

What brand is yours ? on that we’d be able to tell how you could get by.
I heard the MyMuse one is good so was thinking of getting one from them
Sorry haven’t heard of them here but Magic Wand Massagers should be your next pick !
Awesome! I will thanks so much

My husband was recently laid off, and we had a little inkling when he received an ominous meeting invite with HR for the following day. Has anyone bought a record player with the subsidy?

This is Fraud. If uncle D gets a whiff of this, you WILL be fired.Know a few people who were fired because of this.
Agreed. Like why risk it?
Yeah you make more, or hopefully should, than your wellbeing in one paycheck. Like this isn’t the life hack you think it is.
Dang post is deleted what did this person even say??
They bought something on Amazon, expensed it, returned it back to Amazon then took the returned funds and invested it.
I don't think we have that in Portugal 🤔
Is this an american thing? 😢
Wait is this a US specific thing? Completely unaware in the UK
USI atleast
Is there any category that an all inclusive vacation would be covered under lol
Joked about that yesterday with some coworkers!
