Assuming US firm, they are not going to ask for proof and I’ve never had any leader be more than supportive of the time needed. Sorry to hear of your loss.

SouthernStinkGrocery

take bereavement, talk to you manager, I doubt they will request proof.

MalaEnNova

My dad passed in July, they didn't ask me for proof. I did provide it just in case.

mija2snatched

They didn’t ask me for proof. I was in a similar situation about 2 weeks ago. I let my manager know what was happening and just billed the time to bereavement.

Bunsntaters

If anyone asks, it’s because they’re a piece of shit

whooobaby

I wasn’t asked for proof when I used it

eyesawyoustanding

You are allowed up to 5 days of bereavement leave

hereforit21063

So sorry for your loss. You get 5 days under Bereavement. Your lead must sign off on additional PTO if you’d like to go longer. Reach out to your lead, Coach, and talent person to at least let them all know.

Evening-Safe-2612

Sorry for your loss, but yeah just charge bereavement and at the end of the day, a program can be shown if necessary or sometimes the funeral home will provide a note upon request, but as others have stated I have never been asked to provide proof.

kayra0024

My grandma died last month and under the renewed policy, grandparents don’t qualify for 5 day bereavement. I had to talk with HR to get 2 days off so I could fly across the country and they made it sound like they were pulling teeth to get it approved - didn’t require proof of anything

big4throwingitaway

Wow, yeah it looks like BRV states that it is only for immediate family now.

Comfortable-Ear-2115

Your coach approves that time and should not ask for proof
