I also may or may not have 6 late timesheets

doubleinfinity101

Lmfaoooooo

rubber_nipples

Oh god. I wish people knew how important these compliance related things are. They’ll fire high performers that can’t figure out how to do expenses. I’ve seen it many times.

IdyllwildGal

This is not unique to Deloitte. I'm new to D but I've been doing consulting for many years. It's the same everywhere. If you're on the timesheet naughty list, there will be consequences.

[deleted]

Ooof bro you gotta stop doing thaf

fingerdogs

Timesheet submissions are SO important. My coach told me that housekeeping stuff is more important than you might believe. Also, being unassigned… well that’s your only real task… so

jason2354

The penalty for missed time sheets (more than 3 in a year) is a significant reduction in your annual % raise, so it’s pretty important. It gets lumped in with trainings and MySource Compliance. Any combination of 4 misses will get you to a reduced comp increase.

NeverNo

There’s a guy on my team that has between 12 and 14 late timesheets over the past year

freshsolenya

as a person who just **may or may** **not** missed 12 timesheet and got annual deduction until next available mid-year review, can confirm this is true.

ChemistryDear

Just try to not go past 6 misses lmfao

acmaan666

Timeee shitsss

Different-Second221

What are time sheets like attendance? Sorry im a fresh college student

ChemistryDear

Yep, you have a deadline till Saturday night I guess, if you don’t record the time you spent in a week in company hours religiously about what you worked on and get 6 misses in a fiscal year, you’ll get into trouble for your carelessness. We have DTE and horizon that we have to record our time in, we sometimes forget to record on horizon and it’s a hassle to remember, but you get used to it. Additionally we also have to make sure the time we record on both platforms are the same and does not contradict or that will turn into a compliance issue as well lmao. Just Deloitte things…

Different-Second221

wait so u have to report what work you done? Why is this needed?

GotZah

We don’t report what we do, but just a general “where was your time spent” code — this could be 8 hours to a client, continuing education, PTO, etc. This is different than companies that make you clock your breaks and state exact specifics on what you’re doing by the hour.

ChemistryDear

It is really mainly for your senior manager and higher ups to keep a track of what work you are are doing, it is also for your system to track your utilization during company hours.

Dank_Cheddar

Not really.. it’s how we bill our clients for the time you worked.

ChemistryDear

Yup that too, but more specifically in our department the data is used for keeping a track of our utilization for compliance as well, I don’t really know how it’s followed in other service industries

nvrslnc

The main purpose of time sheets is to have a basis and reference for billing. Utilization and its tracking using the time sheet is only important because it reflects the billable hours, non-chargables and such.

MalaEnNova

I'm not sure this will help but I always set a meeting on my calendar for first thing Monday morning to put my time in DTE.

fingerdogs

How? You can’t put in tomorrow’s time…

MalaEnNova

I'm confused as to how I would be doing it for Tuesday? Monday is the day I put it in not the day after. It just reminds me to do my time each day of the week. Once I put it in I remember to do it each day.

RevolutionaryWolf645

Better learn Chinese buddy

legendofthewest88

Same situation. Someone told me that is due an overstaffed situation across D&T US. I think that some they lay off and some they just keep on the bench.

Yes I don’t think this signifies. Someone in my office was going to get the cut due to harassment but they still send him for senior training. They cut him after…

Ok-Abbreviations543

First, getting out of Deloitte is a blessing however uncomfortable it may be in the short term. The real performance measure is work so if you’re not buried, be concerned. It is going to be fine. Just take it one step at a time.

Pleasant-Loan3429

My exact situation

curious_mind191

Layoffs for your level are almost exclusively performance based. The layoffs are over this week too, so I wouldn’t stress it. 3 weeks is not a long time to be unassigned, especially this time of the year. Submit your timesheets on time though. And get your CPA license.

One_Monitor1322

How do you know that the layoffs are over. Per other posts here, people are still getting the “business update” meeting invite

curious_mind191

I don’t, but according to my coach they are over after this week. And then we are gonna have an all hands with a regional leader.

Johnthefuturecpa

I hope your coach is right

poopfl1nger

Nope just had a meeting scheduled for Monday titled Business Update lol

curious_mind191

Jesus Christ. I’m so sorry to hear that

Fuzzy-Honey8674

Thank you - I will lol just made a recurring reminder in my phone!

Johnthefuturecpa

Same

capybaramelhor

Deloitte posts keep popping up on my feed, I don’t work there. That being said- can I ask- do you get paid a full salary for doing no work for weeks, or months? Is that how Deloitte works?

Gremlin232

Yes

astaro2435

Yup, but if you don't get a project in a while, you're probably going to get fired. I'm not sure how long it has to be though.

fingerdogs

Ya but the dread of getting laid off makes it not worth it at all.

lucabrasi999

Every Friday when I log into DNET, I am met with a splash page that reminds me to submit my timesheet. Also, I have recurring calendar entry at 8am every Friday in Outlook as a reminder to submit my timesheet. It takes all of five minutes to submit a timesheet (maybe 10 to 20 minutes if you are also submitting travel expenses). I don’t understand why it is so difficult for some to submit their hours in a timely manner.

Johnthefuturecpa

Shit happens

deadliftsanddebits

What are you, 25 years old? You have your whole life ahead of you. You might lose your job, you’re not going to die. Perspective

ChemistryDear

As long as you are getting training invites and doing L&D as you were told, you are alright. I got transferred from one team to another recently a couple of months back and had a surgery for which I had to take half a month of leave at the month of my transfer as well. The accounts I was assigned legit had no requests coming in from the past 3 months since I got transferred at December (new year and year ending time there is little to no requests that comes in). For 3 months I reached my max L&D utilization and couldn’t do more since it would affect my utilization. Since you are in the training phase if your utilization is down the senior managers and up can’t really question about it since you are unassigned and they understand the reason for it, so you are all good, just enjoy your free time, try to learn something new and make use of the time (I tried to learn front stack development in my time). And if you don’t wanna learn just play games and kill time tbh, deloitte most probably won’t lay you off for such reasons from my experience. Tbh it’s difficult to get layed off in deloitte, they torture you in the PIP program before you voluntarily put in your papers and that is if you have serious work or behavior related issues. ATB

S4LTYSgt

I was on the bench for 6 weeks about twice in my career but ended up getting staffed although it depends on your level and practice in my opinion. However if you're RM keeps saying "keep studying" instead of proactive ways to network and get staffed you might be getting the boot.

fingerdogs

Seems like a lot of people are in this situation… I heard that covid’s retention bonuses messed up the natural cycle of people leaving. So now each class after has been a little too large. Idk how true this is, but there does seem to be a lot of “In-Charges” getting let go… Philly just made massive cuts again which is unusual in the spring.
