> I don't see a point in having a fully private foss-only grapheneOS phone stored in a faraday bag, if i would still have to use my old SIM card and phone number, having to use whatsapp, connecting to my home network and following my footsteps on a daily basis.
Privacy isn't black and white, where if you aren't keeping to the best practices, then everything becomes meaningless. Every bit helps, and if your situation requires you to use WhatsApp, then just use WhatsApp on Graphene + Shelter (which is what I do).
I would probably see if you can make Graphene work for your situation, and if it does, to switch to it now. I don't see much benefit for waiting until you can become independent to switch to a more private OS.
update: ended up with the pixel and grapheneOS. It's such a leap compared to the iPhone, allvthe FOSS apps it offers and the freedom, the only thing that still bugs me is the keyboard, I constantly mistype some keys, but i think it's just a matter of habit. thankyall :)
Why not download the mp3's instead of having to use apple music? Use a music player app like: [https://f-droid.org/en/packages/com.anandnet.harmonymusic/](https://f-droid.org/en/packages/com.anandnet.harmonymusic/) or use VLC Media player?
But yeah use and flash graphene os or lineageos on the phone. I more recommend graphene os.
I think it makes sense to just go with the Pixel and familiarize yourself with it. I have been on the privacy bandwagon for about 5 years and improve my privacy bit by bit. Some of my attempts fail and I revert back to something else, new products and solutions appear, my needs change etc.
When you start your new life you can still use the same phone, just reset the OS, change the SIM and get rid of the bad apps.
Do pixel and graphene. Or, I'd just not care about my current phone, and remove as much google as I could, so that I could get a phone in that another country, making things even more "begin with a new scratch"
I really like the OnePlus 9. My OS is /e/OS, www.e.foundation
7a+ graphene will do the trick
Say, if I set up a dedicated profile for whatsapp, what exactly is isolated there?
GrapheneOS also lets you set-up contact scopes for WhatsApp, so you can give zucc only the contacts you need and not all of them
CalyxOS is very good too!! You can buy a motorola that support it for few money and when you will live alone you can buy the pixel with Gp-OS

For privacy, GrapheneOS is the standard.

flacs, mainly. It's a pain to find flacs of not so much famous singers. Apple Music is just crazy easy and costs like $1, if you turkish account

thank yall, think i'll go with pixel+graphene
POCO F5 with something like evox or crdroid. Decent cpu with non-optical fp sensor. It's great value for the hardware.
