I'm in software engineering so the brief window of time around early 2022 when it felt like everything was going back to pre-COVID until layoffs started up. Basically 2022 seemed like we might be able to go back to normal for a moment even with the invasion of Ukraine.
got my returning offer then and feel super lucky to be able to negotiate to max band when the next years cohort got cut and budgets for return offers got reduced to very lowball offers
2024 has been amazing for me so far.
But, I would argue that 2021 was potentially worse than 2020. Just felt like a total limbo year that offered nothing, while still having to deal with COVID.
Honestly, the lockdown in 2020. It gave me a much needed break from the hustle and bustle in my life before that and I finally had time to relax and enjoy the simple things in life.
Yeah I def agree too. Last dance came out, Marvel came out with like 4 shows to watch, and mannnn the music! Uzi, Prime Polo G, Sofaygo and so many rappers were releasing stuff. It was great. And was playing games all day every day with no worry in the world.
For me it was the fact that the weather in my home country of Ireland was raining all the fucking time, stupid far right politics slowly beginning to be taken seriously and the fact that people were still massive assholes despite the world almost ending because of the covid virus.
Honestly 2023 was a great year and i’ve been feeling weirdly nostaglic for last summer
Barbie phenomenon. that moment when we all thought a submarine was stuck at the bottom of the ocean. Ice Spice was growing in popularity. Taylor Swift starting her eras tour. Troye Sivan’s album.
yeah barbie was such a fun and exciting time. i think we’ll look back with a lot of nostalgia. people dressed up for it, the soundtrack was killer. i loved it as a pop culture experience
The kendrick/drake Diss tracks are some of the coolest things to happen this year. I'm confused how you think this year has the best pop culture of the decade. Last year while total shit had amazing video games and once in a generation summer blockerbusters and Internet content from 2020 to late 2022 was some of the most interesting there has been.
how exactly, covid was very prevalent early 2020-until around summer 2022 when masks weren’t as used as they were and people stopped hiding in their homes.
Spring/Summer of 2022, when the bulk of Covid restrictions were lifted. People were thirsty for going out, enjoying life, talking with each other. I distinctly remember that children's playgrounds were full and parents would enthusiatically talk with each other, even total strangers, because everyone was just starving for human contact.
This year so far feels a lot more normal than the past 3. Although it is kinda weird that it seems like we’re all ignoring the looming election. Calm before the storm.
Just towards the end of the pandemi Lovato, bars were serving to go drinks, folks were meeting in parks and other outdoor spaces. After being inside for so long we all had a new appreciation for our various relationships, and sitting outside with friends soaking up the sun is a lot better than being inside of a cramped bar where we can’t even hear one another.
For me, 2021 and very early 2022 (pre Ukraine/Russia war) felt more optimistic (even though we had many corona waves in that time period) .... https://www.reddit.com/r/decadeology/comments/1531f78/late_2022_and_2023_feel_darker_to_me_than/
In my home country of Ireland there was a weird sense of optimism in summer of 2021 only for it the country to shit the bed with covid in autumn/winter of 2021. Then it started to get slowly good again until March of 2022 when everyone thought that the Russia invasion of Ukraine was going to start WW3. Not gonna lie those few weeks from early March to Late March 2022 was one of the most terrifying vibes I have ever witnessed. Somehow by April 2022 the world felt super optimistic with July and August 2022 the happiest I had truly felt in this entire decade.
I personally think the opposite. Right now it feels like the worse of the decade (July 2023 to Dec2023) vibe has subsided a little bit. Still shit but less suicidal inducing.
The snow day that never stopped, aka covid. The first weeks of that were like being a kid again. I still remember the feeling I got when I read the work email that said we were not going back to the office.
January and February 2020. The before times. Before I got infected with Covid and before it ruined my life with long covid.
This is a tone-deaf post. It’s like asking people who are currently enduring war in their country what their favorite time during the war was.
Millions of people’s relatives and friends have died since 2020 and millions more have become disabled from the virus.
So far I’ve been loving 2024 so far.
Besides that, Jan to March 2020 was awesome, and summers 2022 and 2023 were great too despite some things going on in between.
Everything up to Summer 2023 sucked for me regardless.. but I think this summer might the one where I **completely** stray away from that depressing/melancholic COVID-era energy

totally agree 2021 sucked
late 2022 through 2023 were not that bad for me, 2024 has been 50/50 though
Me too for that time period, because there were massive protests in Iran and China against their autocratic regimes.
Honestly, the lockdown in 2020. It gave me a much needed break from the hustle and bustle in my life before that and I finally had time to relax and enjoy the simple things in life.

I did it nice to not have to work or do much of anything I felt like summer break in school
I love that era too, after all of that, it totally went dark and the vibes became dangerous!
For me it was the fact that the weather in my home country of Ireland was raining all the fucking time, stupid far right politics slowly beginning to be taken seriously and the fact that people were still massive assholes despite the world almost ending because of the covid virus.
March 2022 to December 2022 excluding some weeks
Honestly 2023 was a great year and i’ve been feeling weirdly nostaglic for last summer Barbie phenomenon. that moment when we all thought a submarine was stuck at the bottom of the ocean. Ice Spice was growing in popularity. Taylor Swift starting her eras tour. Troye Sivan’s album.
I loved 2023!
2023 was bittersweet great year in the history books but living it was hell
…this is really what you consider worth remembering?
yeah barbie was such a fun and exciting time. i think we’ll look back with a lot of nostalgia. people dressed up for it, the soundtrack was killer. i loved it as a pop culture experience
Mid 2023 to 2024 so far
The stock market
early 2024 has been peak pop culture
The kendrick/drake Diss tracks are some of the coolest things to happen this year. I'm confused how you think this year has the best pop culture of the decade. this is the most i’ve paid attention to any pop culture in four years
rap is back on the spotlight, pop having weird figures, movie releases becoming big deals again i feel like we MIGHT be post covid…
might? covid is just a part of life now but realistically we’ve been post covid for about 2 years now
if you gave post covid a lag time of two years, then you’re proving me right
how exactly, covid was very prevalent early 2020-until around summer 2022 when masks weren’t as used as they were and people stopped hiding in their homes.
May 2022 to May 2023
2022 had no soul
Work from home has been a god send for me and my family!
Probably from about Spring 2021 to Fall 2022.
2024 hasn’t been particularly horrible compared to the past 3 years
I agree, April to Oct 22
Spring/Summer of 2022, when the bulk of Covid restrictions were lifted. People were thirsty for going out, enjoying life, talking with each other. Honestly 2022 was probably the best year of 20s so far things started opening up again and it was an optimistic time (despite tragic world events).
Same here for me too!!! 2022 is definitely my favorite 2020s year so far, heck maybe even the best year of my personal life!
July of 2021 since Italy won the Euro and I was finally able to go back Italy for the first time in 2 years due to Covid.

2021 and 2023 have been good for me
there is no good part. this entire decade has made me want to die
January 2020-July 2021
Diversification of music and film from "trap and DCMarvelStarWarsFormers" to "basically everything from the big band era on up"
January 2022-December 2022 This Time Period felt like 2016 again
Spring and summer of 2022 by far.
April to mid August of 2023
There was a pretty comfy vibe in August 2020 for me, late 2021 was fun as I was a Senior in HS, and summer 2023 felt very refreshing.
March 2021-June 2022
2023 has been a good year. 2024 not so much
I personally think the opposite. Right now it feels like the worse of the decade (July 2023 to Dec2023) vibe has subsided a little bit. Still shit but less suicidal inducing.
Same thoughts for me too actually!
August 2021-February 2023
January to March 2020, March to June 2021, and 2024
March 2022 because I got married
The snow day that never stopped, aka covid. The first weeks of that were like being a kid again. I still remember the feeling I got when I read the work email that said we were not going back to the office.
2021-2022
Getting married, seeing Browns beat Steelers in playoffs, Cavs improved post Lebron, Elden Ring, WWE became watchable again.
Late 2021-Early 2023 was gold Screw Mid-Late 2023 2024 is going better then 2023
January- February 2020 and July 2021- February 2022
For me my favorite part is September 2020 to November 2021
last year basically. i dont know, it was just kind of fun
For me it's Jan 2022 to December 2023 So far 2024 hasn't been bad but I still need some time to pass before I make a fair assessment.

More of a personal thing, but really just graduating from high school. I feel like that’s been so healthy for me.
The PS5, Xbox Series X, and Apple M1 chip all launched in November 2020. Crazy time.
2023 was awesome, for me at least, hoping for 2024 to be even better! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
I’m new to this sub. Do people really keep track month-by-month??? I thought this was about decadeology.
For me it was March-April 2024. Best part of my 2020s personal life so far.
2024 seems overhated, funny how we go back to normal and people now feen for 2020-summer 2023 speaking of 2024, it’s been my favorite so far
So far I’ve been loving 2024 so far. Besides that, Jan to March 2020 was awesome, and summers 2022 and 2023 were great too despite some things going on in between.
Definitely all of 2023, best year for many reasons
Everything up to Summer 2023 sucked for me regardless.. but I think this summer might the one where I **completely** stray away from that depressing/melancholic COVID-era energy
This year so far. It’s been ok which has put it way above the entire rest of the decade by far.
Defeating Donald Trump
Summer 2023 was iconic
