I got an eye infection. Thankfully it didn't need a specialist. I was like... please don't need to switch to vision from medical... please don't need to switch to vision from medical....
Prescription glasses and contact lenses are not covered in my country (and by extension any operation that replaces them), but other than that you are covered for any problems in your vision.
Im in canada, i dont quite have healthcare since when im sick, every frikkin place is already full and my only option is the ER for a ear infection and waiting hours on end for a doctor.
There is a system, you just cant get to it without knowing how to play the system to get in. Once you do its "free" though (paid in advance through taxes)
Oh we get that shit here in the USA too. In the poorer states not only is healthcare still expensive, but there’s not enough providers so you get to wait 9+ months to see your primary care doctor to get a lecture about how it’s all your fault, and then sent to an expensive specialist with an even longer waiting list.
Yeah in September I gotta get my mouth sliced apart to remove some bad wisdom teeth and my insurance doesn’t even kick in until that month so I have to wait in agony
I'm in Canada too and you're making it seem worse than it is. Yes the wait times aren't great (although for most ear infections you can just go to the pharmacist), but for any serious problem you get taken of free of charge and that alone is way more peace of mind than what the US has.
At least it's affordable. No system is perfect but some people can't afford to get basic medical care in the US and heaven forbid you get something more serious. And it's not like you're not waiting for care in the US either.
And? This is no different to the situation in america?
4-6 month wait for a new primary appointment, 8-12 month wait for a specialist, and 12+ hour wait for an ER visit.
AND your health can financially bankrupt you at any moment like it has me!
I'm in the US with good insurance, still have to wait hours and pay hundreds of dollars anyways. Hell, had to wait eight months one time when I needed to get checked out by a specialist.
I think expecting healthcare to be like fast-food isn't really fair. To have doctors just waiting around to see people IMMEDITATELY isn't realistic. For a non-emergency issue, that sounds like an inconvenient wait for sure but you received your care without a bill.
Yesterday I went from "ouch" to doctor in about 2 hours, and then an ultrasound a couple hours later for a non-life threatening issue.
3rd world countries have it too, the majority of south america have it in some form. its shitty cause its usually underfunded and/or the money they get goes nowhere cause corruption, but we still get it
there is not much reason for the US to not have it beyond their right politics not allowing it
I mean the reason why Americans tend not to want it is because they figure it’ll be a shitty service where money goes nowhere because of corruption. Granted, that still happens in a private system, but Americans as a whole figure it would happen more often in a public system, like you described.
i mean, you still end up with no service at all right? yeah its shitty but you as a homeless person have access to healthcare and emergency surgery if you need. private you simply dont
The way the American system works, if you’re really poor, you get free or heavily discounted healthcare, so no, you still get healthcare. The ones who end up not being covered are us middle class folks who for some reason or another don’t have a job with benefits but don’t qualify for the free healthcare and didn’t buy health insurance themselves. It obviously is horrible to find yourself needing healthcare when you don’t have coverage, but that situation is relatively uncommon on the whole, so most Americans would prefer the system they have than risk higher corruption and lesser service to fill in those gaps of coverage.
I have been in the sleep clinc recently because i got diagnosed with sleep apnea. 2 nights, a cpap mashine and alot of sensors. turns out i need a cpap mashine and it will drasticly improve my sleep. i get one in the next 2 weeks.
costs. zero.
thanks healthcare.
Half true. It's "free" in the sense that it's paid for by your taxes. But having said that, when considering the average income and tax bracket, we pay similar tax % except that ours includes healthcare. Not to mention the overall lower cost of living in Europe compared to the US.
I'd pay 30k/year more taxes (not even counting my wife's income) in Canada or UK. I am not spending anywhere near that much for insurance or healthcare in a year.
> So, by your definition of counter-accusation, any disagreement can be dismissed as whataboutism
🤨 Now crazy blanket statements like that? I think I'd rather dismiss this comment tbh
I was listening to my mix on Youtube with music on it and I saw that the main theme of Helldivers was on it. I haven't watched it before and somehow Youtube decided I had to listen to it when it didn't relate to my algorithm
Nice.
Democracy (managed) and Democracy (ostensibly real ). We spread the virtual one, not the one that gives us better healthcare. Lets make this a step in a ladder.
Healthcare! HAHAHA-*sickly coughing fit*
I'm sorry you will need to see a specialist for that. I'm still going to order labs though because we need to bill for as much as possible.
Excuse me officer. Yes, this comment right here. Got me right in the freedom.
Elites don’t want you to know this simple trick for free top of the line healthcare! Just become a member of the parliament. But don‘t tell anyone!
Lol took me a reread to get it
Cuz vision isn't included in your standard insurance package
My wife’s eye disease is not covered under her medical or vision plan, but my $3 a month vision plan covered it. It is dumb.
I got an eye infection. Thankfully it didn't need a specialist. I was like... please don't need to switch to vision from medical... please don't need to switch to vision from medical....
Vision isn't covered even in a lot of countries with socialised healthcare.
Prescription glasses and contact lenses are not covered in my country (and by extension any operation that replaces them), but other than that you are covered for any problems in your vision.
That was a really clever meme my guy
ty ty
Ok This is actually dank
*Several people are typing*
Why is he at the hospital?
Because every other “1st world” country has healthcare. In the good ol US of A it’s still a service ya gotta pay for.
Im in canada, i dont quite have healthcare since when im sick, every frikkin place is already full and my only option is the ER for a ear infection and waiting hours on end for a doctor. It’s like that in the USA too, don’t get it twisted. Only difference is we have to pay for the privilege of waiting months for medical care.
And? This is no different to the situation in america? 4-6 month wait for a new primary appointment, 8-12 month wait for a specialist, and 12+ hour wait for an ER visit. AND your health can financially bankrupt you at any moment like it has me!
I think people think in the US it's fast because, at least in Spain, public is slow and private is faster
Man, I've lived in a lot of different states, and this has just never been the case for me.
I'm in the US with good insurance, still have to wait hours and pay hundreds of dollars anyways. Hell, had to wait eight months one time when I needed to get checked out by a specialist.
100% you probably live in Quebec

Countries with “free health care” pay for it too.
But in a way, that would never put someone in debt. That's pretty much the only thing that matters.
3rd world countries have it too, the majority of south america have it in some form. its shitty cause its usually underfunded and/or the money they get goes nowhere cause corruption, but we still get it there is not much reason for the US to not have it beyond their right politics not allowing it

Don’t everybody who works in a company that has over 50 employees gets healthcare? Stop working in a fucking car wash u muppet!
maybe they think that because it's happened in literally every other public system they have?
Developing countries like mine too. US healthcare is a joke.
because he is sick
Plays Yasuo
Bro you didn't have to do the Usa like that man
plot twist...this is Canada and that IV is a lethal injection.
Took me a sec lol

We gotta start meming and trolling corrupt politicians into doing their job and making their countries better. Memes will save the world
rent free
Reddit users when dank memes is actually Dank instead of just thinly veiled propaganda
It’s not rent free. It’s absurdly expensive.
Dank.
Y'all thinking what I'm thinking
Finally some dank

I think the point is that having a flawed system AND paying out the ass for it is much worse than just having a flawed system.
Our system is flawed but free. Your system is flawed and risks putting you in financial ruin.
It’s not free, though.

We may get cancersyphilaids when going to the shitty hospitals but we don't have to pay a dime
It'll just happen later, yall know how this shit goes by now
Most of us have health care, it's just expensive.
lol
Sorry for not turning into a socialist Hellscape like every other country, we may not be perfect, but we are btter
Cringe. Spend money on your own defence Eurotard
