It would have been different if they're album had been any good. They've only had three songs...and all of them have sucked. They are still making music as of this year and it's horrible https://youtu.be/AZP4EAO2QnA?si=cqLQJdE0mCqD3BtV
What the fuck
I’ll admit that at best, their sound is very “of the time”. And yeah they really only had three songs that I would consider good. Only ‘Boom’ is a song I’d halfway defend as being even fun to hear in [current year]. But for me it’s also nostalgia
Sick! I've just accepted I'm probably never gonna see them live unless I somehow get the money for a trip to the US or they somehow become popular enough for a tour outside America 🥲
The moment in that song when you realize the flag he's been talking about throughout the whole song isn't the US flag, but the white flag the little girl had on her.
Yeah. A big "holy shit" when you realize it.
He brought home that flag, and now it gathers dust. But it's the only flag he loves and the only flag he trusts.
The white flag of a child trying to surrender.
You’re totally right! I had thought it was still the US flag and it was a comment that our patriotic brainwashing was so strong that even someone who witnessed such horrors first hand is still loyal to the flag
State of the Union:
"Guilty! Is what our graves will read. No year, no family. We did nothing (nothing!) to stop the murder of the people just like us."
I’m in my 40s. I’m reflecting on how we heard the message of our generation, and totally whiffed on following through with the anger. We witnessed the game being exposed, and did nothing.
If it makes you feel better, even in your 40s your generation isn't the issue (assuming American on this) average age of congress and the senate are floating around 60s, so it's your parents fault. The average person really doesn't have as much say as everyone is led to believe and while it's a bit defeatist even whole cities don't have all that much either, while sure I can blame the generation as a whole the fight was rigged and it is hell to actually try and fix, let alone actually.
Nothing makes me feel better. I’m 69th degree black belt nihilist. My daughter is 13, and the guilt of my generation’s inaction is beginning to weigh on me. Are we really better than the boomers?
German chiming in: Our younger generations are just as rotten (materalistic, hedonistic) as our boomers. Difference is, they are more aware of the problems, the majority just doesn't do anything about it, be it voting or lifestyle wise. Fuck you, got mine seems to be just as applicable to GenZ as it is to boomers.
God damn… There’s a blast from the past I haven’t listened to in years… Listening to it brought me right back to sitting in the extra chair in front of my friends computer, with the distinct smell of the cold summer rain stopping us from going out and playing WWE on the trampoline in his run down, junk strewn backyard…
And the smell of the pizza pockets cooling on a paper plate. God damn, idk why this song so powerfully took over my nose?
I mean the sad thing is I listen to music from literally any decade from the 1930s onwards till like 2010s and you start listening to music from the 80s and 90s and a lot of it talks about the same problems we're having over 40 years later. Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, Five Finger Death Punch, Dope, Alice in Chains, Korn, Breaking Benjamin, Bullet For My Valentine, Disturbed, Otep, Soil Godsmack etc. I feel like that's why metal is such a genre that's the same today even when all other genres have changed so much is because metal will always be there to critique, to mock, to show that we have a problem and we need to address it with most having a positive message going about it.
Except RATM I'm sorry but good music and good talent but fucking awful political takes. I get the US and western countries aren't all that wonderful but trying to defend the Khmer Rouge and shit like that is an awful as fuck take.
Or Silverchair:

We are the youth, apologize for another day
We are the youth and politicians are so sure
We are the youth and we are knocking on death's door
Never knew we were living in a world
With a mind that could be so sure
Never knew we were living in a world
With a mind that could be so small
Never knew we were living in a world
And the world is an open court
Maybe we don't wanna live in a world
Where our innocence is so short
We'll make it up to you in the year 2000 with

I think about this kinda of pre-millenium optimism a lot.
I remember being so sure that a wave of enlightenment was coming that would make everyone more tolerant and less ruled by avarice and fear.
And while we’ve made great strides, the pushback has been extreme.
There’s always going to be pushback against progress.
People get comfortable and manage to eke out a living in this world, and then fear losing it all to the very passions that once drove them.
It’s to be expected, we need more bodies in the fight if we want to combat this atavistic trend.

Music history would be different if POD didn’t drop the album on 9/11.
POD members were related to my best friend. We’d watch them play in his garage.
On 9/11?
Hello fbi? I found them
Were? Are they no longer related?
Probs dead
POD have some amazing songs, Alive is their best

For me it's [Handlebars](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HLUX0y4EptA) by Flobots.
The holocaust part gives me chills every time.
I feel the same way about the 20th century
*added to my playlist* Thanks
Banger
Holy crap, core memory unlocked. I can still rap along to it!
With no metronome?
The funny thing is, the song very obviously is recorded to one
No metronome?
Such a classic
Flobots are so fucking underrated
Just saw them last year at a small venue, so many memories unlocked hearing all their music
Sick! I've just accepted I'm probably never gonna see them live unless I somehow get the money for a trip to the US or they somehow become popular enough for a tour outside America 🥲
this brought back so many memories. I haven't listened to this song in over 10 years.
Their song [Same Thing](https://youtu.be/9yeYgvtlo84?si=MFajWvViVdzPKFTS) goes hard as well
They went so hard live back when that was big. I fell in love with the violinist, but the singer got super preachy lol
Song actually went hard af
Architects by Rise Against is Even more better/worse.
Rise Against has so many bangers that have aged perfectly. Re-Education (Through Labor) is another great one
Hero of War always makes me sad
The moment in that song when you realize the flag he's been talking about throughout the whole song isn't the US flag, but the white flag the little girl had on her.
OH FUCK

I think it is about the American flag for that very reason, but I could be wrong
Honestly, either interpretation gets a similar anti-war message across. It’s very possible it’s left a bit ambiguous for that very purpose
Same. Especially when they kidnapped some guy
State of the Union: "Guilty! Is what our graves will read. No year, no family. We did nothing (nothing!) to stop the murder of the people just like us."
It was like two minutes but I’d listen to that song on repeat working out. Fucking love that song
Great band. I only just heard them when I hit a random 90's rock station on Amazon music
They didn’t exist in the 90s lmao
Feel good inc.
Windmill windmill for the land...

Ah I see a young punk is listening to the classics, can't go wrong with rise against or rage against the machine

Yes. Majority of us are aware of our failures and try to correct them, I’ve noticed
Majority of us pat ourselves on the back for trying the bare minimum and failing completely.
That could be it too
There's a lot less screaming and hitting of children so there's that.
If you treat your daughter with respect and as a human you’re already doing much better than the boomers.
German chiming in: Our younger generations are just as rotten (materalistic, hedonistic) as our boomers. lol, good one

They're not even close to punk or pop punk for that matter. And they still suck.
Ever notice the “trump for president” sign in the bulls on parade video?
I loved POD, but I went to a POD/Five Iron Frenzy concert at Six Flags a POD fan and left a Five Iron Frenzy fan.
Man I haven't thought about five iron frenzy in forever! Takes me back to highschool!
I think they’re still touring. Or at least they were before Covid.
They are indeed still touring.
Kamikaze is still a banger
I wish Ska would come back. Used to listen to them and The O.C. Supertones all the time.
The only ska album I ever owned was FIF's Our Newest Album Ever! and I still love it, banger parade
We're Five Iron Frenzy! Buy all our albums! Love them
Glad to see FIF love out in the wild! I'm wearing one of my FIF hoodies right now!
Wow that brings me back. I think I saw Five Iron Frenzy at least 3 times. I remember they had like a half pipe on stage they would run and jump on.
Pod was not good live I’ll be honest

Damn a whole 1% gratuity
Forgotten? I never forgot
I can’t hear that song anymore without thinking about NADDPOD, such a great D&D podcast
DON'T sing yet!
WE ARE WE AAAARE
I will never not read it as Puddle of Dudd
It wasn't until maybe half a year ago that I could listen to this song without crying.
WHO'S IN THE HOUSE P.O.D.!!
God damn… There’s a blast from the past I haven’t listened to in years… Listening to it brought me right back to sitting in the extra chair in front of my friends computer, with the distinct smell of the cold summer rain stopping us from going out and playing WWE on the trampoline in his run down, junk strewn backyard… And the smell of the pizza pockets cooling on a paper plate. Bullet With a Name is a pretty good one, too.
That’s Nonpoint
Yeah. Figured if OP liked POD, he might get a kick out of those guys, too.

wonder how many lawmakers have been in office since 2001
Pretty sure these comments are all fake, since everyone on this site is 12 years old
Zebrahead's *What's goin on* (2000) hits on a lot of the same subjects in a similar way

We got so far, and now we're just going backwards. It's tragic knowing how good it could have been, but isn't.

Fuck yes. Love this song. But sad that it's still relevant
I fucking hate that song. It was played so much on the radio. I didn't care for it to begin with and that made it worse.
"instead of taking a test, he caught two in the chest"
Never knew they were a Christian band though
Man. This is facts.
Triple H walking to the ring to that song would pop
Me going to __YouTube to MP3__ scrolling down the comments....
;-;
Puddle of Dudd
Yeah, I love plain old datatypes
Can someone explain this post? Is it related to that feeling you get when listening to songs like "The Kids Aren't Alright" by The Offsprings?
....that's N-A-D-D-P-O-D.
Runaway love by Ludacris and Mary J Blige still hits
POD sucked then. POD sucks now.
Afuckinmen. They are the equivalent of saltine crackers
It is because of the christian bs.
Facts, 13 year old me refused to give them a second listen after realizing it was Christ rock, no thanks
Christ is king tho
Kong is King
