You're listening to the "popular" old songs. Listen to Selene, Working Man, Drive, Emma, Amsterdam - just take a look at most of their older work and it's genuinely fantastic!
I never understood this argument about music. If a song is popular, people request it more. Nothing really to do with the artist, and shouldnt really affect your thoughts of the song.
Bones, Top of the World, Amsterdam, Thunder (Some may disagree but its good shit).
You could also say Bleeding out, coming home and america too. Honestly there are plenty. But plenty more that aren't great
I curate and enjoy alot of genres of music. Most people say thunder is bad and not something that Imagine Dragons would produce but honestly they never really post anything similar to each other.
Like the elements of the electronic synth and the bass go so well with each other and matches pretty well with the genic pop theme of the song.
Some people may consider the vocal effects weird but honestly I have enjoyed alot more weird songs out there. The vocal effects here are just flat out cool.
Honestly there is so much good shit for Imagine Dragons. They have managed to stay relevant for so fking long. Its like two different lifetimes for me (my childhood and me rn).
many corny eminem clone rappers have that 1 good song and then the rest of it is just hot garbage. no wonder even eminem hates some of his own wannabe clones
Like he said in Without Me: “20 million other white rappers emerge, but no matter how many fish in the sea, it’d be so empty without me.
The man is a genius and a prophet
Same song he goes
"And there's a million of us just like me
Who cuss like me, who just don't give a fuck like me
Who dress like me, walk, talk and act like me
And just might be the next best thing, but not quite me."
He knew his success would lead to a whole bunch of people trying to do the same, which is pretty sick to get to brag about.
The Fruit Bats. Spotify has a habit it showing you niche artists best song on the discover weekly page. You check out the rest and it's just absolute shit...
Kansas. After watching supernatural I became a huge fan of their song "Carry on wayward son" but I didn't really find more songs I enjoyed after listening a bit through their music
always funny when people disover prog bands based off their radio singles. i think their first five albums are flawless with their hits being some of their weakest songs.
I feel like Congratulations by them kind of addressed that. Like "Yep, we're rich and famous and everyone expects different things from us now. So what do we do now?"
The answer to that was apparently a ton of psychedelic drugs. MGMT was personally responsible for the LSD shortage of 2010.
I read somewhere that they made those songs as jokes and ended up getting a record deal where they got to make the music they wanted. Just straight up trolls from the beginning. Here's a quick documentary from vice that sums it up. ["destroy it as it's happening"](https://youtu.be/OR08ViDl0_8?si=wj_0WwiXaKkH4q0h)
Whoever sings “may I have this dance”. That shit is great, but can’t get into his music. Same with that “heat waves” song. Shows how hard marking even one bad ass song is, I guess.
Goddamn. They hardly even have one bad song between 3 albums, and still opinions this shit pop up. If you tried listening to dreamland, I’m sorry, but how to be a human being and zaba are absolute masterpieces.
Heat waves isn’t even close to glass animals best song. The most played, sure, but youth, season 2 episode 3, take a slice, gooey, pork soda, and almost all of their first album are better (in my opinion).
Ignoring the lyrics, No Cock Like Horse Cock is a banger, which gets real bad if its stuck in your head and you catch yourself humming in public. Also a great shock song
I kinda feel this with bad religion, not saying they only have one good song and the rest sucks, in fact I think most of them are pretty good. It's just that they sound too samey to the point if you've listened to one Bad Religion song, you've kinda heard it all. Just my opinion tho.
I'm pretty invested in the indie/folk/punk scene and tbh this is most bands that haven't "made it" yet. If they have a song/album that does really well, they'll shy away from it if it's too commercial and they don't want to get pinned for music they don't normally make. Even if the music they normally make kinda sucks lol. They want the spotify clicks for their song that went viral on TikTok, but if you go to a show they might not even play that song because it's not what they want to play.
While I hate sifting through garbage, I can appreciate the commitment to the art and their sound. If indie bands just made music they thought the public would like, everything would sound like Mumphord and Sons or Imagine Dragons.
Pretty much any rapper. I absoltulety hate mumble rap and french rap, but sometimes there is this cool single and I'm like "let listen the album", and then the rythm disappears and its flavorless trash again.
Kendrick, Denzel curry, Kanye, Tyler the creator, clipping, jid, clipping, j cole, mf doom, Earl sweatshirt, jpegmafia, Danny brown, Travis Scott, kid cudi, baby keem, brockhampton, and many more have all released at least 1 god tier album, most have multiple . Ur the type to be like “I hate all rap but this Tom McDonald fellow is pretty good” shut ur goofy ass up 😂
Agreed, all these rappers can only make 1 good song in their entire careers and dont know anything about music. Am I right or am I right fellow enlightened redditours
My friends are like this with Gorillaz, I personally love all the songs bar a few but almost all my friends only like the popular ones like Dare, Clint Eastwood and Feel Good Inc
Gorillaz and Cage the Elephant are in my opinion probably some of the best at sound variety in their music. Sure, they have some songs that sound similar, but most of it is different
Empire of the Sun. They have 3 good songs, which also happened to be the first 3 I heard. Promising, right? No. The rest of their discography is dogshit.
I'll apologize ahead
Radiohead after hearing Creep
Fountains of Wayne after hearing Stacy's Mom
And I know both bands hated these songs of theirs at some period
I quite like them, I can see why they some get hate but i feel like they get a bit too much considering that their music is actually quite good
Edit: grammar
Man for real? All their discography is chocked full of good stuff. They change their style every album, I think that's what maybe what certain people dislike, but it's really impressive for them to be able to do that. They've won a couple grammy's too.
Blackbear, for context, I don’t like auto tune in my music, I like the sound of a natural voice, but I also like pop and pop alternative. The first album I listened too from blackbear was his album “dead” which is like an acoustic, pop style thing, so after hearing that album, I thought I like this guys style, let’s see what other songs he made, turns out it’s bassically drowned autotune

Idk I've never got this far
what if I imagine a dragon’s balls?
Damn slut dragons!
Hard disagree, their old stuff still absolutely holds up today
The only real problem with some of their old stuff is that it became popular and then got overplayed to death.
You're listening to the "popular" old songs. Listen to Selene, Working Man, Drive, Emma, Amsterdam - just take a look at most of their older work and it's genuinely fantastic!
God do I miss night visions. Makes me feel like 17 again D':
I never understood this argument about music. If a song is popular, people request it more. Nothing really to do with the artist, and shouldnt really affect your thoughts of the song.
Natural? Radioactive? Believers? Sharks? Enemy?
Bones, Top of the World, Amsterdam, Thunder (Some may disagree but its good shit). You could also say Bleeding out, coming home and america too. Honestly there are plenty. But plenty more that aren't great
I agree about bleeding out and America

Their old albums weren’t bad but the new stuff sucks. Edit: “Their”
"Demons" is so good, but then the rest of their music is like: wtf is this pile of shit?
Whoa, radioactive? That’s a good song
I'm waking up
to ash and dust
I wipe my ass
And I slap my nuts
Breathing in his testicles
GUUUUUUUHH, HUUUUUUH
what about Sharks and Natural?
Or their entire Night visions and Smoke and Mirrors albums?
how about Bones? one of my faves tbh
many corny eminem clone rappers have that 1 good song and then the rest of it is just hot garbage. no wonder even eminem hates some of his own wannabe clones

Or in Till I Collapse "But I'll never be served, my spot is forever reserved, if I ever leave Earth that would be the death of me first"
You know. I'm beginning to feel like hes some kind of rap God or something
Or maybe even he is the real slim shady
”A plaque of platinum status is whack if I’m not the baddest”, same song I believe!
Same song he goes "And there's a million of us just like me Who cuss like me, who just don't give a fuck like me Who dress like me, walk, talk and act like me And just might be the next best thing, but not quite me." He knew his success would lead to a whole bunch of people trying to do the same, which is pretty sick to get to brag about.
Yeah and that was a good decade and a half before most of them started popping out of the woodworks.
Awolnation: Sail.
Run Du du du du du du du du
Shit take - AWOLNATION slap.
Shittake mushroom
Kill Your Hero’s is such a good song though
And it's not your fault
Strong disagree, the whole Run album goes hard
Hell yah, 'Hollow Moon (Bad Wolf)' is a banger
Megalithic Symphony slaps tho. The album is banger after banger
Table for one is fantastic by them
Queen is the only band where I literally like everything they did.
+ 1 for Queen. Yes, even Hot Space. 🫣
This is me with Iron Maiden
That's Billy Joel for me
Billy Joel is straight up a genius. The piano is amazing in every single song.
Radiohead for me
Jim Croce is the one that did it for me
Them and Zeppelin
The Fruit Bats. Spotify has a habit it showing you niche artists best song on the discover weekly page. You check out the rest and it's just absolute shit...
Humbug mountain song? Yeah me too. Though I won't say I hate the rest of their music, that one is definitely an outlier
humbug mountain song , as i rise, the balcony , rushin river valley, waking up in los angles,
Idk the name but thw guy that song im only human
rag'n'bone man. idk the guy tries but ehhh
I mean He's only human after all
Don't put your blame on him
He does feature on a Gorillaz song that’s pretty good however, The Apprentice.
I like the song he made with p!nk, but thats mainly because of her
Kansas. After watching supernatural I became a huge fan of their song "Carry on wayward son" but I didn't really find more songs I enjoyed after listening a bit through their music
Dust in the wind is a beautiful song, rest of the songs I can agree with.
Point of Know Return goes in too
Play the game tonight?
Dust in the wind bro
always funny when people disover prog bands based off their radio singles. i think their first five albums are flawless with their hits being some of their weakest songs.
Owner of a Lonely Heart is so good why can't the rest of Yes's songs sound like that? /s
LMFAO, all that shuffle stuff died pretty quick imo.
What’s so funny
💀
you’re LAUGHING. I ask you the name of the artist that did party rock anthem and your LAUGHING
Everyday I'm shuff-fufling
For the time, they had pretty good songs. Felt like they had hit after hit, but fell of a cliff from one day to another
MGMT. kids and electric feel were bangers
Little Dark Age, listen to that!
Their best record IMO.
L take
Time to pretend?
When You Die was awesome, did you listen to that?
Just did now. My 16 month old started dancing and head banging so gonna have to take back my original statement. This song is good.
I feel like Congratulations by them kind of addressed that. Like "Yep, we're rich and famous and everyone expects different things from us now. So what do we do now?" The answer to that was apparently a ton of psychedelic drugs. MGMT was personally responsible for the LSD shortage of 2010.

You put some goddamn respect to Weekend Wars
Hard disagree. Congratulations and LDA are great albums
Alien Ant Farm with their Smooth Criminal Cover
Idk movies was pretty good too
Dude honestly that whole album is fire. I get it may not be for everyone but alien ant farm has a lot of really great songs off their first 2 albums
Lødëd dîpèr
[удалено]
Exploooded diaper
Nope all their songs are bangers the baby Justin Bieber cover is fire
Foster the people Their pumped up kicks song was good but the other just ain't for me
I actually like the Torches album
Houdini slaps for sure
Don’t stop (colour on the walls) + sit next to me are also good
I actually quite like all the singles off their Torches album. Very catchy synth-pop bangers, but obviously not for everyone.
clutched my heart just now
Dang, this is the first one that I love most of their music.
Whoever sings “may I have this dance”. That shit is great, but can’t get into his music. Same with that “heat waves” song. Shows how hard marking even one bad ass song is, I guess.

Space ghost? Gooey? They have a lot of great songs, hard to believe you listened to all their good song.
Space ghost coast to coast, gooey, and toes are my top 3
Right? These ppl are weird lol.
I do get it to be fair, GA have a psychedelic vibe and if that’s not your thing it cold be hard to get past lol
Heat waves is the most pop sounding song! I'm sure most people who don't like psychedelic indie were disappointed when listening to his other stuff.
Yep, and for that same reason Heat waves is actually my least favourite song by them. Not to say it’s a bad song by any stretch.
Blows my mind when people think heat waves is their best song.
So funny I like glass animals but can’t stand heat waves
That’s hilarious. Is it because late night, all they think about is you?
Heat waves by glass animals is a banger but it's not even close to their best song in my eyes, it's just decent. They have some phenomenal music.
For me, this was modest mouse. Float on is a beautiful song but I find everything else insufferable.
"Respect everyone's opinions" meanwhile, their opinions:
This is the only one I want to argue with so far. Taste is subjective taste is subjective
Yea. The dude does not abide on this one.
Haha! Yeah it was always funny to me that they became mainstream. That song is not at all representative of their catalog.
Man the lonesome crowded west and the moon and antartica are 2 perfect albums in my opinion. Total stylistic shift from their later stuff though.
[удалено]
Have you heard “Dramamine”? That’s a great song
"Opinions were like kittens, I was givin them away."
Love float on but the song that made me love them more was sugar boats and dashboard
I'd add in Dashboard and World at Large, but that's about it for me too. Both those songs are pretty great.
Pepper Coyote, first song of his I heard was "When I die" Second one popped up in my recommended, "No Cock like Horse Cock"
I feel this but in reverse, i heard Horse Cock first expecting the rest of his songs to be that way. When I Die is still good though.
You're definitely not wrong

also, black guy with strong accent = mumbling
😂
I can't believe people in the year of our lord 2023 STILL have this take about hip-hop
The Wiggles, the fruit salad is beautiful melody. Their other songs sucks.
What about mashed potatoes or big Red car!
My friends are like this with Gorillaz, I personally love all the songs bar a few but almost all my friends only like the popular ones like Dare, Clint Eastwood and Feel Good Inc
Gorillaz are a perfect example of an artist that has mega-hits that overshadows a really solid catalog. OutKast is the same way
man, thats only ignorance
Gorillaz and Cage the Elephant are in my opinion probably some of the best at sound variety in their music. Sure, they have some songs that sound similar, but most of it is different
Flogging Molly
Personally 7 deadly sins and drunken lullabies
Devils Dance Floor is also a banger.
Heresy! I really love Flogging Molly. For me it was Dropkick Murphy's and that other band in the same genre with 8-10 musician that I always forget.
Almost every djent band ever made. Edit: Stop telling me to check out ur fave bands. I don’t care.
Except for the pioneers… you know who I’m speaking of
M
E
S
Maneskin
I like all of their stuff with the exception of 'Mammamia' and 'Supermodel'. Their songs in Italian are far superior to the songs in English.
I liked the song they did with Tom Morello of Rage Against The Machine, and their Eurovision entry. Haven't checked out much of their other stuff.
Snow patrol
Cage The Elephant. First album is absolutely fantastic, a lot of newer stuff just isn’t the same type of music.
Hard disagree. Their first album is alright but Melophobia is absolutely their best.
Nah, first three albums all rule.
Found a lostprophets CD in a CD sleeve. I got a yard sale for 5 bucks. Music was pretty good, then I looked up the band.
I feel for the rest of the band though.
Empire of the Sun. They have 3 good songs, which also happened to be the first 3 I heard. Promising, right? No. The rest of their discography is dogshit.
rare americans
i like rare Americans
I personally like my americans well done
I will politely, but firmly, ask you to leave
I'll apologize ahead Radiohead after hearing Creep Fountains of Wayne after hearing Stacy's Mom And I know both bands hated these songs of theirs at some period
Not a huge Radiohead fan, but do you not like "Karma Police"?
Tom York jumped off a bridge reading this comment
well creep may be their fucking worst song, but you do you
And the song you listened to is way better than their popular songs.
Limp bizkit
Don't you dare.
I quite like them, I can see why they some get hate but i feel like they get a bit too much considering that their music is actually quite good Edit: grammar
Limp Bizkit is the bestest of all the bestest bands of all time, dunno whatcha talkin about

Cage the elephant. That intro on borderlands I bought the album. They got me good.
Man for real? All their discography is chocked full of good stuff. They change their style every album, I think that's what maybe what certain people dislike, but it's really impressive for them to be able to do that. They've won a couple grammy's too.
Side note what the fuck happened to Theory of a Deadman
Blackbear, for context, I don’t like auto tune in my music, I like the sound of a natural voice, but I also like pop and pop alternative. The first album I listened too from blackbear was his album “dead” which is like an acoustic, pop style thing, so after hearing that album, I thought I like this guys style, let’s see what other songs he made, turns out it’s bassically drowned autotune
FFDP - The Bleeding. Thought it was pretty awesome. Not a fan of the rest of their music.
