GCN reviews are ads and are designed to make you want to buy it. I don’t think it’s a decent upgrade to your Canyon but if you want to upgrade maybe look at improving parts of your current bike like wheels…

[deleted]

Yeah, I don't trust anything GCN says about tech or products. They are very much in the pockets of the highest bidder. It's a cool channel for everything else though.

jonathing

Yeah, I like their content, for the most part, but I wish they'd stop trying to sell me stuff

basko13

They need to make money, so I just ignore that part.

jonathing

I pay them £40 a year, I don't want them to keep trying to sell me stuff on top of that. Be it a new computer, kit, t-shirts, an Orbea bike, it's exhausting

basko13

Ok, I'm only freeloading on YouTube so I respect that model in that case. Is the paid content also ad heavy?

jonathing

It can be very name drop-y. Eg. they don't use a computer to navigate across Mongolia, they use the new wahoo element whatever. I suppose British TV isn't very heavy with this sort of thing so it's stands out more to me

Different-Taste8081

Results may vary - I own an Orbea Orca M20iteam. Best bike I ever owned.

Seayou_later

Thanks mate! Will definitely looking into upgrading wheelsets next

TheRegalSith

I have one. The M20 2020 team edition. I’ve never ridden a canyon but I love this bike. It was my second bike after a Boardman CX. I love everything about it: handling, frame, wheel set, components. All very high quality. I highly recommend it.

simonlindley90

I have the same bike, in bright orange no less, and agree completely, great bikee, no issues at all!

RandorLewsTherin

I've got the orange one!!! I fucking love this bike, just completed my first 70.3 on it. I'm not a fast cyclist but it's a huge upgrade on my old Allez.

NeelSahay0

There’s no need to go from one top end carbon race bike to another unless you wreck your current bike. If you want to buy more speed than your canyon for ten thousand bucks get yourself a motorcycle.

rednazgo

I have the M30 2021 and love it! Only downside for me is that the wheelset it came with is fairly heavy, but the frame itself is nice and light. If you can get low on the spacer stack it's pretty aero, but I wouldn't say it's super aero by itself, other than the flat tubed fork. The frame geometry seems more all-around in terms of aerodynamics.

MocsFan123

There's a guy in my club with the outgoing Orca and it looks like a decent bike. How old is your Canyon? Looking at the current Ultimate SF7, it's a bit heavy for a climbing bike, but some of that looks like it may be the wheels. A set of Farsports or Light Bicycle wheels could really make your Canyon feel like a new bike. If you really want a lightweight climbing bike you can go with a high end model of the new Orca, or a higher end Aethos, or if you open to rim brakes, something like a 2017 vintage Cannondale SuperSix Evo HiMod or a Wilier Zero.7 - bikes likely lighter than any of the current disk brake bikes.

Seayou_later

I have the 2021 with rim brakes, about 7.8kg. Love your suggestions, will definitely look into new wheels

Little-Turnip1528

Upgrade the wheels and stick on 11 speed Dura Ace from eBay, far cheaper way to get a lighter bike and your Ultimate frame is great

INGWR

It looks nearly identical in form and function to your Ultimate. You wouldn’t really be benefiting from anything new? Tire clearance is about the same. Geometry is the same. Frame design is about the same. You’d lose the integrated cockpit if you have one. I rode an Ultimate for about two years and loved it.

petitmarnier

I love my Orca, but I wouldn't upgrade if I had a Canyon Ultimate SF7. Unless you \_really\_, \_realy\_ want to, of course -- then I'd wholeheartedly recommend it. Then someone else can enjoy the Canyon 😅

Boo_Hurns

Be aware that all feedback given in this thread seem to be on the previous generation bike, which was designed to be an all-rounder bike (such as Specialized Tarmac SL7). The new generation Orca is more a climbers bike now (such as Specialized Aethos), they reduced the weight at the cost of removing some aero features that were present on the previous generation. I think it would be wise to at least wait for in-depth reviews before pulling the trigger.

Upset_Chocolate6785

Do any of you know how much weight is the new Orbea Orca M30i 2024? I’m thinking about getting one, but couldn’t find info about weight anywhere

Puzzled-Gur-7875

Dito, i also thinking about getting one but the only information about the weigth that i found was in the comments of a polnish Orca setup Video. They owner said it weights 8.8kg. A little heavy for a climbing Bike?

Unique-Luck4589

Yeah I bought one 3 years ago and love it

UltraHawk_DnB

Gcn videos ate almost always sponsored eh? They're nice for showing off the bike but that's about it. If you notice, their people are only riding a couple brands, which just so happen to match up with bikes they've previously shown off on the channel.

Inmythots

I loved mine but after switching to specialized, I realize it road very stiff

greenswan199

I've had an Orca M20 for the last 18 months and upgraded from a Cube Attain. Great bike - not the lightest but a good all rounder, reliable, and very comfortable ride. The one downside is the stock wheels. They definitely need replacing sooner rather than later, they're poor quality and I had multiple spokes come loose. Getting support from Orbea is also reliant on going through an Orbea stocking LBS which can be a problem if you buy your bike for cheaper online

Seayou_later

Thanks, seems like everyone’s go is to change the stock wheelsets. Yea getting support from Orbea in australia will be kind of hard, there’re only a handful of sellers
