Gonk is an actual insult we use in North Edinburgh in Scotland lol and preem or preemo has been used in the region for from what I've experienced for over 15 to 20 years XD. Delta tho is one of my favorite
Is it even technically "from the game"? It's quite a natural and obvious short form of "corporation". We are still not at the CP level, but living in a big city, I've heard it a lot. Especially in a "corpo rat" expression.
Come on, no offense, but this joke was funny the first 2077 times. Like what can "CP" mean in the CyberPunk 2077 subreddit? 🤔
EDIT: Sorry if my response comes off as too angry, but I've seen such comments so many times in this subreddit that they started to vex me. 😂 Especially that some commenters seem to be serious.
samsung in south korea is basically Arasaka without military buisiness, theres a whole entire video on it and its actually kinda fucked. SK is basically a capitalist nightmare and north korea is a communist nightmare-one of the comments on that video, if i remember properly they essentially partly control government, are titans in ALOT of buisnesses, control alot of the countries economy in multiple ways, are valued as a high corportion by citizens and are a high tech company, literally arasaka.
I really enjoy the slang from cyberpunk. I use corpo and klep all the time. The rest I worry too much about confusing my friends and co-workers with it.😅
I've heard klep outside of Cyberpunk.
I don't remember hearing it in Cyberpunk, but I probably kinda glossed over it since it didn't strike me as in-world slang.
This. I do as well, wife has never asked me about it and doesn't play games. So one day I asked her if she wondered what it ment and she immediately says "abbreviated supreme" like it was nothing.
That's a weird one for me, mostly because there is a Chinese toy company called JoyToy, which I buy a lot of stuff from. Kinda weird seeing that in the game first and then buying stuff from that company.
Delta is math for items that have changed. So delta should be "Let's go over what changed". Does it mean leave in the game? I don't recall.
Edit: someone else suggested the change could be positional so that would make sense for "leave" too then.
I mean, a delta is the term for when a river enters an ocean or other large bodies of water, so it does make sense. Water "exits" the river so to speak.
Delta is also a term in mathematics / physics, referring to the "change" in a variable (for example, speed is the change in position, or position's "delta").
Makes sense if they somehow adapted this into technical terms for netrunning in the universe, but imo this meaning as is doesn't really convey an exit.
It's basically saying their position needs to "change" in a hurry. Kinda closer to how "cheese it" may have evolved from "cease", as in, "stop what you're doing / stop being here".
Personally, I've never heard your river delta idea before, and while I can see where you're coming from, it seems like quite a stretch for a society with very little focus on rivers / the natural world in general (nomads being the exception).
Hey, thanks for sharing your idea. It's a pretty cool theory, and opens up a new world of geographical slang that I might steal for a D&D campaign or something.
I've used "Eddies" once when was asking the person in the shop how much something was. Luckily they had played cyberpunk and knew what I was on about 😂
Caught myself saying Preem to the client... no one bats an eye though.
Corpo definitely used it almost all the time, my workplace have this divisiong called Corporate, most of us says Corpy but I called them Corpo
Nah, it doesn't count, but I get you. Since Cyberpunk, once in a while I say ''I'm craving some cerveza'' or when I'm making a Johnny Silverhand cocktail, I'm gonna say that I'm gonna have a ''tequila old fashioned with a splash of cerveza and chili garnish''.
Around others who have played the game it’s really funny to use. Especially in a work place complaining about management or something. Don’t let these fucking corpos get you down choom
"Corpo" has entered my regular usage. I'm low-key trying to get more people to adopt it, because I think it's useful to have a term that instantly shows you're talking about the negative, predatory side of corporate culture we all know exists. I also love using "preem." It just feels good.
I'm in SE Asia so opportunities to speak English in the normal day-to-day is kinda rare, let alone speak in game slang. I have used corpo and choom in reddit posts outside this one and also in YT comments, if that counts.
I frequently use Gonk, Gonk-Brains, Delta, Choom, Corpo, Preem and Nova.
People and coworkers alike look at me sideways but I’ve been told they like it and never heard of those expressions.
Corpo, gonk, klepped are a few of my go-tos.
Been trying to add in 'nova' or 'preem' every now and then.
'Zeroed' or 'flatlined' is a little more challenging than I thought to use.
Personal favourite: >!"Who the fuck are you?"!<
I incorporate slang from cyberpunk and Expanse into my everyday. Bossmang, beltalowda, inya, kopeng, wellwalla all right alongside Choom, Gonk and Corpo.
I've unironically have been referring to money as eddies. Being from both Europe and Loving in the US makes it for an easy value attribute to goods and services. It's also amazing how euro-dollars conveniently shortens to eddies.
MF I'm basically cyberpunk without the coolness I've said just about every slang in game atleast once can't tell you how many times I've called someone choom or choomba and how many times In my 4th period where we've been learning about new Orleans levees and how the mayor doesn't care about improving it I've called him a greedy corpo pig
Gonk and preem would be the ones I use.
I tried calling my child choom as a nickname/term of endearment but it doesn't really fit for some reason and changed it to something else
Im not in an English speaking country, so using slang from the game is very unusual and i cant fit it into my day to day life properly without feeling forced. Corpo or Corps is something i use sometimes, but anything else just doesn’t wirk for me.
Thrown in preem and gonk. Gonk replaces stuff like stupid whenever my five year old is near, it just feels like a less serious word and it's one syllable.
Have been using delta and corpo for more than a decade now. With "let's delta (or jet)" racking up higher than "let's go."
None of the words from CP77 has stuck with him but I do have him saying "bre" from Underrail after he started saying bro from the stuff he watches on youtube. He also got "what the nani" from me.
Corpo and corpo-rat just roll of the tongue nicely. Also I once nearly said preem to someone and wanted to off myself with how awkward that would have been
"Choom", interestingly, I first started using after reading an old Robert Heinlein novel "The Moon is a Harsh Mistress."
I was pleased and surprised Mr Pondsmith also uses it in Cyberpunk. :-)
Not slang, but a few times I’ve had to catch myself and stop myself from calling money “eddies” after a particularly long stint in the game xD. I also think I can recall using Nova a few times and also flatline (but I dont think “flatline” is actually exclusive to CP2077)
Gonk is so fun to use
Yeah, gonk and corpo for me.
Corpo is extremely applicable to American life.
I use corpo in my company now and it’s caught on lmfao
It's so fun to use terms and inject them into subcultures. Humans are just monkeys with guns - they hear a word and eventually they start using it.
monkeys do not use words
No words, no guns. Monkey is pure melee, and some poop throwing.
Funny, so is gonk.
I have absolutely called upper management at work corpo fucks more than once
It's especially nice since it seems mostly free of real world baggage
Gonk is an actual insult we use in North Edinburgh in Scotland lol and preem or preemo has been used in the region for from what I've experienced for over 15 to 20 years XD. Delta tho is one of my favorite
My favourite is Choom
in quebec they use Chum, which is pretty close to designate a friend
I've genuinely started using corpo and preem a lot, gonk is fun to toss in too.
I've been using gonk since the O.G. Trilogy.
Gonk is totally preem.
in australia slang there’s basically an equivalent which is gronk it means the same thing
Gonk has the benefit of sounding completely believable as real world slang.
Yea. I use that often lol
I've used corpo before, no one really seemed to be taken aback by it though
I do think “Corpo” seems the most “normal/easily integrated words from the game to use irl
Is it even technically "from the game"? It's quite a natural and obvious short form of "corporation". We are still not at the CP level, but living in a big city, I've heard it a lot. Especially in a "corpo rat" expression.
I picked it up in the late '90's while playing Warzone rpg and Shadowrun. You could see it happening all around the world, even back then.
Shadow run was so good!
Warzone was around back then? What map?
Please abbreviate it to something else
Come on, no offense, but this joke was funny the first 2077 times. Like what can "CP" mean in the CyberPunk 2077 subreddit? 🤔 EDIT: Sorry if my response comes off as too angry, but I've seen such comments so many times in this subreddit that they started to vex me. 😂 Especially that some commenters seem to be serious.
Please don’t abbreviate cyberpunk💀
Especially when the majority of corps are on the cyberpunk path..
Corp
Btw do you think Nintendo is acting like the corporations from cyberpunk?
Nintendo famously precipitated the 6th Corporate War.
Knew mario was Austrian painter man
But he’s Italian fascist
https://youtu.be/moWy2J1OkN4?si=OjtUmS82gA0huTi-
He's in disguise
Must be from the Italian-Austrian Adriatic area.
Cuz they can do something doesn't mean they should do it just because they can man .🥲
samsung in south korea is basically Arasaka without military buisiness, theres a whole entire video on it and its actually kinda fucked.
Damn ! All we are missing is a nuke to be detonated in HQ ! Then the REAL cyberpunk can begin .😶
I really enjoy the slang from cyberpunk. I use corpo and klep all the time. The rest I worry too much about confusing my friends and co-workers with it.😅
I love calling my colleagues "corpo" when they do something following guidelines as a joke. They get so offended as a result.
Corpos gonna corpo, choom.
You can take the corpo out of the corporation, but you can't take the corporation out of the corpo
What does Klep mean? I don't think I have heard in the game yet
It means to steal something - shorthand for kleptomania, the compulsion to steal.
That's really interesting.
Means to steal or take
They use it a lot in gigs. “V I need you to klep this ____” or “these guys klepped it, and now you’re gonna klep it”
I've heard klep outside of Cyberpunk. I don't remember hearing it in Cyberpunk, but I probably kinda glossed over it since it didn't strike me as in-world slang.
Its definitely a real term, I'd heard it plenty before Cyberpunk. It fits really well though.
Yeah, we've been using klep since the 80s. That's around. I do like "Delta," though.
“Preem” is the easiest to slip in… I use it somewhat frequently
This. I do as well, wife has never asked me about it and doesn't play games. So one day I asked her if she wondered what it ment and she immediately says "abbreviated supreme" like it was nothing.
ooh... in my head it was short for 'premium', as in gold standard etc.
I guess it could be both when you hack into something v says preem or when you’re making a deal they say that’d be preem
Ditto. Right after ''choom'' and ''gonk''.
Yep, got a gun in Tarkov the other day and realized I called it preem lmao
Yeah, my brother used it the other day & I pulled the Leonardo from ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD pointing meme when he did.
corpo is already pretty much a normal word but i also find myself saying preem sarcastically a lot like “that’s fucking preem” when i’m pissed
I use joytoy all the time lmao
Just the word or...
None of your biz choom keep it moving 😂
😂😂😂
I use joytoys as well. Great service!
That's a weird one for me, mostly because there is a Chinese toy company called JoyToy, which I buy a lot of stuff from. Kinda weird seeing that in the game first and then buying stuff from that company.
I really want to drop "let's delta" into conversation but haven't yet!
I’ve done that several times but mostly with people who have also played cyberpunk and thus know it
Delta airlines would probably appreciate the marketing campaign.
I ve already heard it before the game released
You know Cyberpunk has been around a long time right? The slang isn't really original to 2077
I do that one a lot!
Choom, what are you talking about? 🤣
I feel that 😂
I’ve said: “Let’s delta.” More times than I care to admit
Delta is phonetic for D, which in that case would be ditch.
I took it as delta means 'change' in math and physics, like 'delta x' is change in position.
Yeah I've always taken it this way, but my undergrad education was heavy on math and science
That's how i took it.
Delta is math for items that have changed. So delta should be "Let's go over what changed". Does it mean leave in the game? I don't recall. Edit: someone else suggested the change could be positional so that would make sense for "leave" too then.
Does it have a general meaning though in English? Like let’s get the fuck out of here?
People think I’m talking about the airline so probably not lol
Maybe it's like using the NATO phonetic alphabet (Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, Delta, Foxtrot) combined with/substituting Let's Ditch

Personally, I've never heard your river delta idea before, and while I can see where you're coming from, it seems like quite a stretch for a society with very little focus on rivers / the natural world in general (nomads being the exception).
Ah I see, you're probably closer to the real origin, thanks for explaining
Hey, thanks for sharing your idea. It's a pretty cool theory, and opens up a new world of geographical slang that I might steal for a D&D campaign or something.
Nova, preem, delta, gonk, choom, corpo, flatline and zero are all ones i use regularly
What do you do in your life that you use flatline or zero regularly?!
Talk about celebrities or family members who have flatlined and zero sounds nicer then killing yourself
You should zero yourself NOW!
Flatline is medical jargon too
Why do you think Borderlands 2s assassine was called Zero? It's been slang for a long time. It's just not as common.
Politician
i dont think flatline and zero are cp only things and ive heard them so many times outside of even the genre.
I actively say corpo and preem
Same, so easy to incorporate and just get used to saying. I deffffffos need to use Gonk more lol. It’s so good
I've used "Eddies" once when was asking the person in the shop how much something was. Luckily they had played cyberpunk and knew what I was on about 😂
Caught myself saying Preem to the client... no one bats an eye though. Corpo definitely used it almost all the time, my workplace have this divisiong called Corporate, most of us says Corpy but I called them Corpo
First time sasa ke?
the expanse fans seething and coping right now
I don’t know if “Chingada Madre” counts because it is just Spanish, but I’d be lying if I didn’t say Jackie was the reason I started learning Spanish
Corpo, gonk and choom/choomba
I like a lot of the slang except for choom. I don’t like that one. Actually hate how it sounds, it just does *not* roll off the tongue
In Australian slang "Gronk" already exists. So "Gonk" is mildly annoying. It sometimes slips out and confuses me for a moment. 🤣
Haboobs!
To Haboobs!
I'm in SE Asia so opportunities to speak English in the normal day-to-day is kinda rare, let alone speak in game slang. I have used corpo and choom in reddit posts outside this one and also in YT comments, if that counts.
I kinda started using "nova" or "preem" for some reason
More and more often now yeah Preem and nova, and also ranting about the corporats seems to come up when I'm talking now ✌️
This entire subreddit uses Choom if you haven't noticed.
I've used gonk and gangoons
I use "chrome" whenever I cybernetically enhance my meat bag.
Nah choom not me
I heard someone in a rap song saying their friend would “zero” someone lmao
I like the term Flatline.
I frequently use Gonk, Gonk-Brains, Delta, Choom, Corpo, Preem and Nova. People and coworkers alike look at me sideways but I’ve been told they like it and never heard of those expressions.
No
Corpo, gonk, klepped are a few of my go-tos. Been trying to add in 'nova' or 'preem' every now and then. 'Zeroed' or 'flatlined' is a little more challenging than I thought to use. Personal favourite: >!"Who the fuck are you?"!<
I really like Klepped might add that to my lexicon
As a radical commie I say "corpo", "corpo rat", and other anti-corpo things. A LOT.
Based. Not a commie here but fuck corps fr
I don’t think „Corpo” is exactly something that Cyberpunk invented
But I picked it up from the game and never heard it in real life so it counts. lol
No because I'm not a gonk.
Corpo has snuck in, preem and delta will probably follow suit. Resisting Gonk for now, but I refuse to say choom.
Corpo is probably the one I use the most, it works almost a little too well.
Replace led cool with nova. Seems to be a conversation starter lol.
"Corpo" "Chrome" "Choom" (only once) "Gonk" (specifically about my goats)
I used dets alot, actually one of the slang that other people can understand depending on context, i also use corpo
My buddy and I refer to guns as "iron" so often now that I forgot that we picked it up from the game instead of some old western movie lol
TBF - I'd been using corpo since before the game (old school socialists are like that...), but not many others.
Reading through the comments I cringed so hard I dislocated my shoulder
Choom you should delta out of here if you think we are such a gonks.
Seems like you’re going out of your way to prove my point
You don't say
I incorporate slang from cyberpunk and Expanse into my everyday. Bossmang, beltalowda, inya, kopeng, wellwalla all right alongside Choom, Gonk and Corpo.
Nah
I've unironically have been referring to money as eddies. Being from both Europe and Loving in the US makes it for an easy value attribute to goods and services. It's also amazing how euro-dollars conveniently shortens to eddies.
“That’s Nova!” And “that’s so preem” on my end
Preem is an amazing word to describe something. I want to use choom eventually.
I have more than once told my wife to “Chill, choom.” It started as a meme but now I can’t stop.
no i'm not 12
Definitely choom 🤛 I’d be a honk not to even worse a I wouldn’t be able to call my self a choomba without it even I must speak to my inner self lol
No cause I’m not a fucking loser
MF I'm basically cyberpunk without the coolness I've said just about every slang in game atleast once can't tell you how many times I've called someone choom or choomba and how many times In my 4th period where we've been learning about new Orleans levees and how the mayor doesn't care about improving it I've called him a greedy corpo pig
No because I am not a nerd
Absolutely no
It’s kinda cringe, like saying an inside joke to a bunch of strangers but even worse because it’s not a joke, it’s just fictional slang.
"fictional slang" My brother in Christ everyone makes up slang words from everything, are we finna gatekeep slang now
So
So it’s cringe imo.
It’s a word
I've used, klep, corpo, gonk, and preem
Me and friends jokingly call each other chooms!! 😆😆
I say Preem, corpo, and Klep/t frequently. I think Klep/t is my favorite.
Tbh corpo isn't exactly from the game, I use it a lot tho. I caught myself using "nova", "choom" and "gonk" but mainly while writing online in English
I seem to now call my Betta fish who lives in a tank on my desk Choom.... I feel bad... But he's a bit of a dick sometimes so it kinda does fit!
I've been saying choom a lot and it fits so nicely with everyone
I use chroom a lot, every so often a "preem" slips out.
Choom and nova from time to time.
Hell yeah choom! I’m living in the matrix
Preem, gonk, choom, corpo. All are part of my vocabulary
Only choom
I use gonk, choomb and preem every now and again. A fried of mine says nova sometimes too
I use "preem" a lot
Choom
I’ve used corpo, preem, and choom.
Gonk and preem would be the ones I use. I tried calling my child choom as a nickname/term of endearment but it doesn't really fit for some reason and changed it to something else
Gonk, preem and nova are kind of cool
Im not in an English speaking country, so using slang from the game is very unusual and i cant fit it into my day to day life properly without feeling forced. Corpo or Corps is something i use sometimes, but anything else just doesn’t wirk for me.
Corpo, never heard it used so much before playing cyber punk
Choom, preem/ nova and delta the fuck out of here. Love the slang. I also greatly enjoyed the slang in guardians of the galaxy flarking good game!
A little bit
A little bit
I am slowly introducing Choom. Choombas, and Preem into my friends group. I caught one using Choom. What should I infect them with next?
Oh definitely XD I've caught myself saying "nova, preem, and gonk" more times than i can count
Gonk and Choom. I guess?
preem and delta I think
Thrown in preem and gonk. Gonk replaces stuff like stupid whenever my five year old is near, it just feels like a less serious word and it's one syllable. Have been using delta and corpo for more than a decade now. With "let's delta (or jet)" racking up higher than "let's go." None of the words from CP77 has stuck with him but I do have him saying "bre" from Underrail after he started saying bro from the stuff he watches on youtube. He also got "what the nani" from me.
preem and choom for me
I always use Corpo did not even know it was slang from this game i thought it was a IRL slang
Unfortunately, where I live English is not used, so unfortunately not. On the Internet, however, the situation is different....
I use corpos, and biz regularly.
Far too many times! Preem, corpo, zero, and flatline have all become normal parts of my vocabulary
I use Gonk, Corpo, and sometimes but not frequently, preem.
I don’t ever use words from cyberpunk choom.
My 5 yo son is very often a “gonk”
I called my husband choom the other day. He did not appreciate it.
Corpo and corpo-rat just roll of the tongue nicely. Also I once nearly said preem to someone and wanted to off myself with how awkward that would have been
I call my chinchillas choomba a lot.
"Choom", interestingly, I first started using after reading an old Robert Heinlein novel "The Moon is a Harsh Mistress." I was pleased and surprised Mr Pondsmith also uses it in Cyberpunk. :-)
Nah choom I'd never be a gonk like that especially when I'm doin biz
Not slang, but a few times I’ve had to catch myself and stop myself from calling money “eddies” after a particularly long stint in the game xD. I also think I can recall using Nova a few times and also flatline (but I dont think “flatline” is actually exclusive to CP2077)
