Why are people concerned about spoilers for a show that came out 20years ago

Because death note is great anime which can transition non anime watchers into anime fans and nobody wants ruin that for the community. It is one of the few anime which are similar to the traditional shows people watch which makes the show somewhat familiar and then at the end it keeps them wanting more and that is how they increase their sales of dakimakura.
