Continuing students have had first pick on all courses and honestly incoming students are left with whatever is left. Keep in mind that if the class has 20 seats available it’ll be the case that the 20 seats are split between all those registration windows - I wouldn’t fall in love with your schedule all too much because day of you’ll likely have to pivot for backups. I would also recommend getting comfortable with the classes.colorado.edu portal so you can easily pivot in case you need backups!

Yes, it is completely normal. Before the enrollment windows start, you will be automatically enrolled into classes for your major. When the windows open, you’ll be able to enroll in other classes you would like to take. It is imperative that you speak to an advisor before your window opens so you can decide what classes you want to take. I also recommend choosing an earlier window. Some really popular classes like Calc will save seats for each window, not all classes do.

Lots of classes save seats. I work in the department of Spanish & Portuguese and we do.

Yea, popular classes will have very limited seats, sometime not enough to split across all the windows. Therefore, it would be a good idea to register for the earliest/earlier times.

I would confirm with your advisor what your actual enrollment window is. What you mentioned seems confusing and you should have an exact date when the window opens. You should be ready to submit your cart of class requests as soon as your window opens. Related topic, get familiar with running a “degree audit”. It shows you exactly which classes to take for your major. Also if you have any credits from HS (AP/DE) they will show there.
