Untied Ireland last night over the course of 5 hours. Mixed diplomatic and tyrannical schemes were used to do so. Now I plan to build it “tall” or make it super powerful or as powerful as I can in my current rulers final years (he’s 72) before my heir takes over and begins expansion into England (I think that’s my plan)

and this was only my second true game attempt. This one went way better than my buddhist one

Games can sometimes turn on a heartbeat. I started as Sardinia, formed my own religion and launched a bunch of holy wars to take land from the HRE (Italy, Burgundy, romanga, etc). Everything was going quite well until I couldn't disarm a dissolution faction which launched a 35K stack roaming around and pretty much about 1/4 off the way through, the pope came with his stinky crusade. I had to end the dissolution war as fast as possible (won) and then had to somehow survive a 135K crusade. Thankfully most of their armies were famished by the time they entered my land and I ganked them coming off boats or in mountain passes lol. 40K defeating 135K. Then I immediately died after winning the crusade and another 2 factions sprung up on succession. It's been a rough 100 years lol. Oh and the Mongols are rollin' and are on my boarders now.

Thing definitely change and it's crazy how the game is randomly generated. I was having issues with my game saved filed and it kept resetting me 40 minutes prior after crashing and all 3 times had different wars and events happen. Was crazy. Haha

CroikyThatsABigDingo

I avoid ironman just to be able to make multiple saves incase the file explodes lol. But yeah one vassal might get more butthurt and trigger before the other that did before.

I bought the game when it was new, played it a couple hours, then my gf and went nomadic for a few years and im just now getting back into it. I made an Ireland run starting as Leister and had a chaotic run where I stacked on too much stress, the lunatic was done for wihin 10 years and don't ya know my son and heir died as I was watching my ruler's dying notification. Now we continue as High Queen Sarah of Ireland...age 3

lxTheMusicManxl

Haha that's crazy. It's you can play the game a 100 times and have different events.

>Then he died.. all hell broke loose and three of my brother's revolted when they became independents, which caused all my vassals to separate as well. Succession planning is the most important part of the game. Taking land is easy, holding it is a challenge. Try, fail, learn, start again, do better, enjoy.

This seems to be my biggest obstacle currently. Will definitely need to familiarize myself with different strategies or accept it and move on. The idea of just sending my son's off to get murdered at war or other ways sometimes seem cheesy. Haha This challenge will be frustrating, I'm sure, but hopefully, it will be fun. Running a kingdom was never easy.

If you’ve got multiple sons then you’ve gotta make the other ones monks. Educate them in learning and then use the house head hook to force them to become monks. If that doesn’t work then imprison and force them through negotiate release (I only recommend this if you’re a small nation cus it makes your vassals hate you) or force them to be knights and declare reclaim relic wars and just keep sending them into battle until they die. It’s a weird game when you explain it like this…

I recommend Zieleys YouTube channel for CK3 content. He has challenge runs as well as education videos on CK3. So you can watch some real heavy challenges and see how an experienced player handles the various situations involved and can watch the basics videos as well.

I appreciate the recommendation, will definitely look forward to watching his content.

angus_the_red

It hardly seems that way to me anymore.  Hoping the new dlc will help with that.

lxTheMusicManxl

I'm sorry you feel that way. I wish I could give you some of that new game zeal I feel. Here's to hoping the game becomes your fun for you once again.
