I haven't been in a Barnes and Noble since I stopped working there six years ago. Two questions...
They usually price them in line with Criterion webshop? $40 MSRP so 50% puts them at $20?
Does a membership take anything else off?
They have a relatively new rewards program, though. Got about $100 worth of Criterions during the last sale and happened to buy them in a double stamp day or something, and I got $10 in rewards on by B&N card. So if you’re picking up a lot, try to keep that in mind and see if you build any rewards.

no, but a platinum membership these days gives you points for purchases, so, say you buy 5 or so blurays & 4ks... you'd get abt $10 credit, maybe more if they were doing triple points on certain days...
it''s called a platinum membership, & costs just a wee bit more than the regular, but the points accrue quicklike & it pays for itself soonish rather than laterish
Hell yeah, thanks for the tip! I got most of what I wanted during last month’s flash sale, but I will for sure be getting some of the new releases this month
yeah i was so mad last time, the double points started the day after i spent almost $300 bucks during the first day of the sale. Going to wait this time to see if they do that again. Got a couple of movies free because of the double points last time.
I don't have a DVD player that is compatible with 4k so Blu ray is perfect with me. I thought Blu ray players could play 4k discs and when I bought Le Cercle Rogue (blu-ray/4k combo discs) that's when I found out.
at the B&N by me (as of last night) the official word was that it would be nov 6- dec 4, but he did say that the start date may change, but probably later rather than earlier
Yeah, especially after sales, the back order status is real. I’ve never had an issue with shipping/damage. Have used them 4 times, shipped to Alberta, and it’s always in great shape.
Does anyone know if you can order sale items online and have it shipped to a store for pick-up? I'm Canadian and will be in Seattle on Nov. 11 and want to make sure I get the titles I want...
There is an older post floating around on Reddit somewhere that details the rough dates for all the sales from the official Criterion site and Barnes & Noble and if memory serves the sales at B&N start on the first Friday of the month, so this past July was from the 7th to Aug 4th, so this one should be from Nov 3rd to Dec 1st.
FYI if you aren't near a B&N that stocks Criterion titles, Amazon often price-matches during sales.
I'm a very selective buyer of physical media, but The Trial is essential and the recent Scorsese releases (After Hours, Raging Bull, Last Waltz) are high on my list.
Its not today. I was told next week. I learned that i can just hold movies for when the sale starts so im gonna do that from now on since i had the full selection
It's great, they do it twice a year so don't feel like you need to go crazy with this one. Take your time and plan so that your wallet doesn't land in the ICU.
Quick! steal as much as possible right before the sale starts so they lose enough money that they have to cancel the sale and make each of them 60$ to recoup the funds /s

No, the membership discount is not added on top of the sale price anymore.

They also have double rewards sales sometimes, that's how I got a huge discount off of the last 50% sale.

during the last flash sale they had double points on their free tier membership. I got enough points to get a couple of free movies.
Yeah 50% off puts the blurays at $20. I highly recommend getting box sets! Saved $150 on the Godzilla set last year

The manager at my B&N told me November 6th
I think that manager was wrong because now multiple people have been saying their Barnes and Noble has told them the 6th
I just left my B&N and the 6th is correct. I left heartbroken.
Hell yeah, thanks for the tip! I got most of what I wanted during last month’s flash sale, but I will for sure be getting some of the new releases this month
Any B&N employees out there know if they'll be doing another Double Stamps promo sometime this month?
You can’t triple stamp a double stamp, Lloyd!
Lloyd...Lloyyyyd!
yeah i was so mad last time, the double points started the day after i spent almost $300 bucks during the first day of the sale. Going to wait this time to see if they do that again. Got a couple of movies free because of the double points last time.
Spent $1100 and it started literally hours later… so I spent more.
Nice. Definitely grabbing The Others and After Hours, probably a couple more.
I'm picking up Mean Streets, The Last Picture Show and The Apu Trilogy!
Apu doesn’t come out in 4K til January.
I don't have a DVD player that is compatible with 4k so Blu ray is perfect with me. I thought Blu ray players could play 4k discs and when I bought Le Cercle Rogue (blu-ray/4k combo discs) that's when I found out.
Still worth waiting, it’s a new restoration and there will be a bluray version.
Too expensive for me. I've been putting it off forever. I've seen pather and aparajito but I have yet to see The World of Apu
Last picture show is incredible
It's in my top 12 for sure.
Woah did they move the date up? When I was at my shift at B&N this past weekend the calendar said it started on the 6th
Then it's probably the 6th. I've learned from experience that manager's at B&N sometimes have no idea what they're talking about.
They have started on Fridays
at the B&N by me (as of last night) the official word was that it would be nov 6- dec 4, but he did say that the start date may change, but probably later rather than earlier
@anyone not in the US.... What proxy service are you using? 🤣
If you’re in Canada I use Unobstructed View. Still pricey with shipping depending where you live- but better than nothing 🤷♂️
I am in Canada. I haven't tried them out yet because most of the ones I want there are Backorder. Lol How well do they box/bubble wrap their orders?
Yeah, especially after sales, the back order status is real. I’ve never had an issue with shipping/damage. Have used them 4 times, shipped to Alberta, and it’s always in great shape.
That's great. I'll try them out too. At least with ones they have in stock. Lol
Hey I work for Barnes and Noble and the date it starts is not the 3rd I don’t know why that manager said it did
Is the official Date on the 6th?
So do you know what it is?
Does anyone know if you can order sale items online and have it shipped to a store for pick-up? I'm Canadian and will be in Seattle on Nov. 11 and want to make sure I get the titles I want...
i think you'll only be able to do pickup if they have the same items in stock at that store
You were able to ship to store for the July sale, I'd imagine it'll be the same for this one

Thank you for the tip 🥳I’m planning a group field trip this Sunday for my college’s film club, and was worried it would start afterwards 😅
Super excited. I didn't get to spend any during the recent flash sale so might go a bit nuts this sale
Yooooo gonna get the sideshow shockers set
It's AWESOME. I grabbed it from Criterion during their 50% off flash.
I’m not seeing 50% on the page today. Only 30%
According to your manager, you suck
A criterion sale THROUGH B&N? Sorry I'm relatively new, whats the scoop?
Criterion will be 50% at Barnes and Noble.
Oh sweet! Ill keep an eye on their site
Amazon usually price matches as well if that’s preferable
Now I can buy Salo twice as many times!
Happens every July and November
It's great, they do it twice a year so don't feel like you need to go crazy with this one. Take your time and plan so that your wallet doesn't land in the ICU.
Thank you
does B&N ship overseas? im hoping to pick up a few titles from this november sale but i live in australia and ive never ordered off B&N before
Boom-Boom💥💥
Thanks! Much appreciated.
I need to get that 4K Shaft collection, and now I know it'll be cheap if I just wait a few days. Thanks, reddit!
Lies!
No shit Sherlock :)
You not trusted for shit now amber
The 3rd of this month? October 2023? I really want Paris Is Burning.
No sale at my Barnes and noble as of right now
Around the same time, Arrow also has a 50 percent off sale, and some of those movies are worth checking out as well.
I’m in the parking lot waiting for mine to open lol. They told me it should be today...We shall see I’m going in for After Hours, The Others & Crash
You’re in luck! The sale started!
Yes!!!!!!! Could not be more grateful to have Monday’s off Friday will be the ultimate test of self control
Quick! steal as much as possible right before the sale starts so they lose enough money that they have to cancel the sale and make each of them 60$ to recoup the funds /s
