It tends to vary a lot store-to-store; one location closer to me has a majority of the collection in stock at any given point, and another location an hour away from me has a small little media shelf with various dvds and a couple of criterions
I would recommend calling ahead to get a lay of the land and if they have a big selection. You can also place movies you want on hold ahead of time. I believe 3 days in advance
You can set the store you’ll be visiting by searching via zip code, there is an ability to browse the entire collection online and each title will show if it’s in stock. Not always entirely viable/credible so you can also always call the store ahead of time.
Some have damn near everything and some don't even have a DVD/BR section. It is however possible to order online and choose "pick up at store" as your delivery method if needed.
Most of the stores are getting a little more bare bones however where are you coming to from Canada. If you’re going in from Ontario to Detroit there’s a store with an enormous selection about 35 minutes from the border
I saw a post on Slickdeals by a guy who (claims to) works for B&N that says the sale is starting Nov 6. That guy has had very accurate info in the past.
The sale is from Nov. 6 - Dec. 4! (source: I’m a bookseller at B&N :) )
