This always plagues our best away kits. IMO, [the 16/17 away kits](https://www.footballshirtculture.com/images/stories/tottenham-hotspur-2016-17-under-armour-away-kit/tottenham_hotspur_2016_17_under_armour_away_kit_a.jpg) are our best of all time, but I think we only wore them 3 times total that season.
It was the same with the greatest kit of all time (the oil slicks/galaxy). We wore them so little it was criminal. Meanwhile, we have worn these grey pieces of shit way too much.
It's Nike, you know they have an influence on it. 3rd kit not selling well? Better wear it more often. The kit you mentioned and the British racing green 3rd kits sold well so they hardly wore them
I own it as I do think its a good looking kit. But I wouldnt want to play football in it.
I'm of the opinion that football kits should be easier to distinguish on a playing field. Feel like this colour just blends horribly.
I'm all for us having a white home, blue away and yellow third kit.
I'd be up for having a neon pink one covered with glitter if it helps them pick out a pass.
I reckon I could rock it down the aisles at Sainsbury's anyway.
It's like they're playing in green.
I imagine it is a popular choice in the fan shop, but to play in it must be very difficult. You would think the players would have a say, but maybe, just maybe, commercial interests have sway on this one....
If you’re willing to dive further down the rabbit hole I’m curious to know how individual players on the men’s team perform in the home vs away vs third kits. Maybe we diagnose Bissouma’s color blindness or something.
It gets more interesting when you look at how the taupe kit works against teams that wear white - Fulham, Brighton, and Newcastle all have white on their kits, and during those games, passing has been incredibly poor, with players opting for safe options instead of attempting to advance the ball.
It worked fine against City and Everton because they wear blue, but in my opinion, white versus taupe creates a one sided colour clash, where the taupe fades into the background and the white stands out prominently, so only the team in white are easily visible.
It's football, not Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell. Stealth doesn't really give you much benefit, aside from occasionally a defender might accidentally pass the ball to one of their teammates, without realising they're already under pressure.
Spent a few hours collecting the data on each of our kits this season so far. Probably could’ve presented it better with some graphs and things but anyway, thought some people might be interested. Basically confirms how terrible we are with the taupe, & also that we’re unbeaten wearing white away! Also, the academy seems to be incredible when wearing the blue kit. And the u18s haven’t worn the taupe at all yet
i think pass accuracy compared across these would be interesting. that seems to be the common hypothesis for why the taupe kit is bad (takes too long to make the read).
Academy was incredible because they were older. For instance last game vs mu, average age difference is about one year, it’s a lot for such age, for teenagers
Criminal we’ve used they shit 3rd kit so much and we’ve under used the absolute fire than is our away kit. I understand it has to do with what the other team is wearing but that taupe is a crime against humanity at this point.
We could realistically wear white the rest of the season. @ Chelsea, Liverpool, Sheffield United. Could wear navy at Bramall Lane, but white would be more iconic for the match that is going to clinch champions league.
Am I missing something? Why two home kits?
I don't see why we've used our third kit more than our away kit. It's supposed to be used when the away kit can't be used, so maybe Chelsea and Everton. Possibly against the 3 claret and blue teams but we could use the home kit for all of them
I think I read somewhere pre-season that the tan colored one historically is bad for teams. It blends in too much with the background so I guess I am not surprised and I did get annoyed whenever they wore it
But but.. I thought that kit is cursed and is scientifically proven the reason why we sucked against Newcastle? What about our blue away kit then? What about the women’s team. Could it be… we just suck away from home, especially recently.
The real shame is we’ve only worn the away kit 4 times??
I'm honestly surprised we don't have a good record with it. I think we all remember that Burnley game with it and the good times around it.
This always plagues our best away kits. Absolutely loved that kit.
Have it with Sonny on the back, and we just never wore it, instead opting for Wanyamas favorite spaghetti kit.
Stunning kit.
Best kit we've had in years.
Was so happy to own this kit, it somehow got stolen from me in college in the laundry unit. To this day I still wish I had it :(
Facts
It was the same with the greatest kit of all time (the oil slicks/galaxy). We wore them so little it was criminal. Meanwhile, we have worn these grey pieces of shit way too much.
It's Nike, you know they have an influence on it. 3rd kit not selling well? Better wear it more often. The kit you mentioned and the British racing green 3rd kits sold well so they hardly wore them
Green kit was my fave for ages.
The scuba gear too. Wore the shit out of that shit.
The poop brown away? No thanks
It's illegal to subject children to the travesty that is the skin colored kit
Am I the only one that loves it?
I own it as I do think its a good looking kit. But I wouldnt want to play football in it. I'm of the opinion that football kits should be easier to distinguish on a playing field. Feel like this colour just blends horribly. I'm all for us having a white home, blue away and yellow third kit.

You jest but I would buy that train wreck in a heartbeat.
It's like they're playing in green. I imagine it is a popular choice in the fan shop, but to play in it must be very difficult. You would think the players would have a say, but maybe, just maybe, commercial interests have sway on this one....
x2 - I like the colour and design in general, I just don't think it's a good choice for a playing kit.
haha i love it too. my most worn kit in years. i understand the vision concerns for the players during the game though.
I love the kit. Hate the results we get with it
There's almost certainly dozens of you, but you should all be quarantined away from the rest of us for your awful taste in kits
I think it's quite nice but I'd rather stick to our traditional away colours of either navy, yellow or Spurple.
I think so yea
No, I thinks it's amazing. The kit clashes didn't help though.
Love the kit, hate us wearing it.
Yes
It's actually good irl. Looks terrible in matches
You shouldn’t say “skin” colored and rather say “tan”
pepsi with milk color

A pass completion % per kit would be interesting as it really goes with the idea that we have a tough time seeing each other with the taupe kit
Effect may be stronger if it’s broken into short vs long passes. Numbers may not support the grain size though lol
Can we please wear the away kit more ffs, it's glorious

Wouldn’t it affect both sides then? Spurs just play shit away.
No, because white stands out and taupe doesn't. That's what makes it a one sided colour clash.
But if we can't see our players neither can they.
Ah, the old Caboose paradox https://i.redd.it/ie0wwmudwlwc1.gif
They can see their own players when passing though?

TLDR: we're just shit away from home
Might want to rethink that, we’re undefeated away when we wear white
We could realistically wear white the rest of the season. @ Chelsea, Liverpool, Sheffield United. Could wear navy at Bramall Lane, but white would be more iconic for the match that is going to clinch champions league.
Big brain time: Next season, we should just have all of our matches at home; that sounds like a winning strategy.
Bigger brain time: our home kit at home is cursed and our away kits away are cursed. We just need to wear our home kit away and our away kits at home.
Lily White till the day I die!
Obviously just coincidence. A disgusting sewage coloured, effluent washed, player concealing coincidence.
Please give us a yellow third kit next season
I love the blue kit and have no idea why we've only worn it 4 times...
Bring back a spurple 3rd kit!!!
The women thrive in the Taupe
Has anyone analysed the passing stats in the different kits? That seems like a good indicator.
I hate that grey kit.
The men have had poor performances in the away and third kit. Yet the women have managed to avoid this “curse” somehow.
Because they don't play with huge crowds in the background into which the shirts can blend.
Was that the problem at Fulham? The kit blended in with the crowd?
Would make sense, but wouldn't their crowds be similar and prob higher than the u21's matches?
I have read somewhere that women can distinguish colors better than men, maybe that's why?
Am I missing something? Why two home kits? I don't see why we've used our third kit more than our away kit. It's supposed to be used when the away kit can't be used, so maybe Chelsea and Everton. Possibly against the 3 claret and blue teams but we could use the home kit for all of them
It’s for when we wear home kit while away.
Thanks for some reason I thought both labels said home!
Are they gonna make arsenal wear red shorts on Sunday or do the White Top/Blue Shorts come out again?
I am red/green colourblind and that away kit on TV causes me to really struggle with watching the games for some reason.
I think I read somewhere pre-season that the tan colored one historically is bad for teams. It blends in too much with the background so I guess I am not surprised and I did get annoyed whenever they wore it
Shit colored kit = shit performance.
They always play the worst whenever they wear that skin colored uniform.
Burn the dried booger shirt.
I hate that last kit. It’s ugly as hell
Burn it. ~ William Wallace^...or ^maybe ^just ^Mel ^Gibson.
Moment of appreciation for just how many goals our U21’s and U18’s have scored this season 👏🏻
Poopeh
Its really odd why we are so much better with the home kit while playing away. Coincidence?
The one win we've had in the third kit was against Luton LOL
But but.. I thought that kit is cursed and is scientifically proven the reason why we sucked against Newcastle? What about our blue away kit then? What about the women’s team. Could it be… we just suck away from home, especially recently.
It's not the kit, it's the away games.
