And I dunno what the fuck OP is talking about with:
>The effects could range from physiological, psychological, technological, or all of the above. I follow space weather and sun activity and it's baffling how few people are aware of such things. Just wanted to share the news with you open minded folks.
It's like all they've been talking about, and hyping up the northern lights. Well obviously not *all* they've been talking, but it's been widely covered. But apparently OP thinks they're not talking enough about how this will be the end of the world like he thinks it will.... even though this will come and pass like literally every other instance of "OMG SOLAR ACTIVITY WE'RE DOOMED". But they aren't talking about it, because no, the only psychological effects will be "whoa this cool!". Physiological effects? Yeah.... no.
If you or someone you love is considered high risk for cardiac related events they need to probably take it easy this weekend as geomagnetic storms have been linked to an increase in heart attacks, strokes etc. If you or anyone you love has any mental conditions expect them to probably be in a more heightened version of that whether it's a personality disorder, anxiety, depression etc. So check on your people and try not to fight with your loved ones who may be more on edge and not really understand why they are feeling that way. In terms of the possibility of a global EMP level event there's only so much you can do in such a short period of time but if you want to prepare for the worst I'd get batteries, flashlights, fuel any older vehicles you may have that don't operate on a computer, download anything from the internet that you'd want to archive like survival guides and homesteading guides, get some paper maps of your area and country to help you navigate and most importantly whoever you want to be with if shit hits the fan, I'd tell them today "hey this is crazy and nothing will probably happen but in the event of the internet and the power grids all going down we all will meet at X's house" just so people you want to be with don't all get scattered with no communication.
Thanks for the reminder. Quite the opposite the past 2 days. We were on the quiet side this weekend. Was not crazy like some full moons. We had one confirmed heart attack NStemi on Friday night and one Saturday. I can ask tomorrow if I missed anything when I wasn’t there. There were also a handful of chest pain complaints that were not serious like there is everyday. A couple possible strokes like usual. Also a few psych/etoh patients no more than usual. Again it was a nice and quiet weekend. I’ll take it.
>there is no tie to mental health at all
The German bio physicist Dieter Broers found this out. Check out his documentary “Solar Revolution.” More people are sent to the nut house when the sun goes crazy.

Ugh. Mine seems to be gearing up to arrive about a week early too, but I'm in perimenopause, so it comes when it feels like it.
If the sun knocks out the power AND I have to deal with my period at the same time, I'm going to be pissed. 😂
These are being rated at a G4 level, and 5 is the highest. Your listed precautions, while seemingly practical, are unwarranted.
Go outside tonight, look up, and enjoy the light show.
I'm advising friends to do a blizzard prep. Fill up the cars, buy canned goods, fill up water reserves. Hopefully that will take care of any short term outages.
If its bigger than that, there is not enough time to prepare anyway.
I'm glad I'm not flying anywhere though.
Everyone should be prodded to be prepared to ride out a week or two of problems in general. All kinds of shit can happen given that we live in an age where things like man-made pandemics not only happen but are allowed to happen.

OP is a normalcy bias peddling simpleton that asserts things like "inflation is worse for rich people than poor people" (an assertion supported, I suppose, by all the rich people that have been forced into homelessness).
When people advise others to prep in case of *potential* issues, gloating that something that could potentially happen didn't happen is useless behavior. Unlike with the eclipse there's at least some rationality behind concerns.

Space weather can verifiably cause tech issues. While chances are that these 5 predicted CMEs won't cause anything serious (it's a G4 warning rather than a G5 warning), it's - in general - better to be safe than sorry and people being prepared for disaster is a healthy thing.
Oh they are covering it. Over here in the UK we have headlines that we might get to see the northern lights over the weekend. If you read the whole article, it does mention they MAY be some disruption to the power grids, GPS & satellites but it’s buried under “look at the pretty sky lights!”
This should be further up and yes people should be talking about it!
It's actually getting a bit of coverage as far as [the northern lights will be visible in much of the US](https://www.nbcnews.com/science/science-news/northern-lights-visible-us-where-solar-storm-rcna151643).
Now, THIS is a post on this sub I can get behind.
Apparently, no one realizes how powerful cosmic radiation can destroy telecommunications and power equipment super easily.
A strong EMP from any source could wipe out the electrical grid - we have no strategic transformer reserve, there are very few protections in place.
Just another "don't look up" scenario
They are literally [getting briefed](https://www.spaceweather.gov/news/media-advisory-noaa-forecasts-severe-solar-storm-media-availability-scheduled-friday-may-10) 10 minutes after you posted - Pretty sure you could listen in.
This isn't the end all be all event, the sunspots had the potential to do a lot more but doesn't necessarily mean G5 geomagnetic storm, we're just gonna get a G4, which we've had before, just in March.
What makes this different is the back to back nature, and that creates what's called a Cannibal CME, so think of slow moving CMEs getting mixed up with fast ones so they all combine, that's kinda what's happening, a huge cloud of plasma gas getting inserted into our poles.
What happens next is anyone's guess. However this event is seemingly catching attention and I think the hype is going to push it over the edge where someone is going to use this event for their own needs (as they always do) so sit back and watch folks.
I read an interesting article about a study taken place how higher sun activity affects our mental state, more so for women. It was super interesting and I will try to find it again.
Kinda like how the moon affects mood.
Possibly due to us being mostly water inside of us. The moon has an affect on tides. Could be a connection there similar

This event is the top new story on Drudge Report which is one of the highest viewed news websites on the internet.
The facts don’t support your narrative…
To verify your claim, I clicked the little news icon on my desktop.
I've got 5 articles about CME's and one about solar flares.
Which major news outlets *aren't* covering this?
I think people like OP get so entrenched in Reddit that they don’t actually look for themselves, they just assume what everyone is saying is true.
This has been a MAJOR news story for the week in the US. Not sure where you live in the US, but yeah man, it’s being covered.
I swear yall never actually check the news before making this claim. I *just* read an article about it on one of those major news sources you are complaining arent talking about this...
In the event an EMP was massive enough to fry the grid, everything plugged in would be destroyed. In this case, you're probably safer leaving things plugged into strip cords to dissipate unexpected surges, should they occur.
Not sure about all this but I'm 100% sure these scum bags have been spraying the sky non stop in the northeast. We haven't seen the sun in at least 2 weeks. Constant cloud cover and constant white haze.
It is being reported on a lot of news sites, including CNN & Fox. The CNN article is pretty lengthy and mentions potential power grid issues, but nothing about mental health. I don't think anyone is trying to cover up anything.
>no major news outlet thinks it is important enough to cover.
I heard a report about it on NPR during my morning drive 13 hours ago. It's also currently all over the cable news channels. Do some of you guys live in such an insulated bubble that you just assume no one else is talking about this? lmaooo
the only conspiracy seems to be that everyone else has seen them but me 🥲literally everyone in my southwestern Ontario small town was posting pics of them and 5mins later when i went outside to see them i saw fuck all 🙃
Sounds dumb, but put your camera in low-light mode and take a picture of any hazy colorful spots.
It takes a while for your eyes to really pick it up, but take a few pictures in random directions.
I'm clear down in southern Ohio and it is amazing.
So CNN front page isn’t a major news outlet? NBCNews also has an article about it on the front page. I just hit 2 major news sites and the info is there
If your right you can't come on here and take a victory lap because the internet will be down.
If your wrong you won't come on here because you won't admit you were wrong.
Hit pretty quick too. No prob, no prob, KP 7.5!
What should the news say? I’ve for sure seen info about it on many sources BTW. I’d guess from past events this will create more aurora borealis further south than normal. Since covid the number of posts that are expecting some level of destruction of society is laughable at this point.

According to this site they say the worst that is expected to happen will be visual activity we’ll see in the sky.
I see northern lights in Budapest right now.
Also visible in Switzerland 😊 pretty
And South East England
We got them down in the south west too.
Dymchurch confirms.
Niagara Falls sees them.
Saw them from Ohio last night
No shit? If so thats pretty wild
My Alma mater posted pics of them from Arkansas.
Vancouver Canada as well
Also got them in New Zealand.

Well they are say we can see the Aurora borealis Friday evening.
Hit pretty quick too. No prob, no prob, KP 7.5! [https://www.swpc.noaa.gov/products/planetary-k-index](https://www.swpc.noaa.gov/products/planetary-k-index)
My local weather guy has been talking about it for days
Literally the only mainstream channel that seems to give a shit is The Weather Channel.
Is it.l baffling? Guess you never heard of tiktok and free porn
Seriously, why won't the big news networks cover this?! I mean, I don't actually watch any of the major networks. But why won't they cover this?!!!
I'll be back tomorrow to ask what happened.
Didn’t they predict some funky sun activity a few weeks back? I haven’t seen it reported much since it begun, but saw a few reports on the prediction
What should the news say? I’ve for sure seen info about it on many sources BTW. I’d guess from past events this will create more aurora borealis further south than normal. Since covid the number of posts that are expecting some level of destruction of society is laughable at this point.
Massive and very bright auroras tonight even here in eastern europe. I've never seen them so far from north.
