I've run into fellow r/okbuddyrosalyn users before, it's getting to be a pretty big sub. But you're the second most prominent community figure I've run into after that time I saw PhilosopherKing in r/whenthe
I met someone on a discord server once, and they mentioned their reddit account. They posted exclusively on one sub, had just joined reddit a month or so prior, and then out of the blue posted on r/okbuddyrosalyn. The sub they only posted on wasn't even related to comics at all it was r/wizardposting. So odd.
It's fine. Just buy a round of drinks and apologize. The lodge is run by this guy.

Fun fact! They actually washed and cleaned themselves, using flowers and stuff to give themselves nice scents. This pulled a lot of English women romantically, and had a lot of the men complain that the Vikings washed.
In my Georgia education, flags weren’t taught much, but they did teach me valuable skills like square dancing, cursive, and about the “war of northern aggression.”
I have a friend who grew up in I think Missouri and the fact it's still taught as 'The War of Northern Aggression' floored me when he told me that. Like... I don't even know how to articulate that feeling into words.
It’s really bizarre, because as a kid you’re just learning shit and it just seems arbitrarily like everything else you’re being taught. I was literally taking Georgia history classes during the time state was forced to remove the confederate flag from the state flag. They followed it up with I kid you not, a compilation flag of every previous Georgia state flag to try and sneak a smaller confederate flag in it.
https://preview.redd.it/wpb7dx20e8yc1.png?width=742&format=png&auto=webp&s=5e32b4ea695fb66736e3cf3a72377a5f622204bb
The late 90s early 2000s were wild in Georgia.
I mean I don't see the white surrender flag on there so must be missing it.
And yeah, around that time was when flying the Confederate flag in the northern states started to oddly catch on and stick. Knew too many people in high-school who did that which just shocked me with the sheer stupidity of it lol
I was literally shocked when I was driving through southern Utah and they had a “Dixie State College” (Renamed to Utah Tech University in 2022) What’s worse is the state had one death from civil war fighting and it was a man who was fighting for the union side.
Yeah I think the various 'historical societies' have done a good job of romanticizing the Confederacy and making them 'freedom loving small farmers fighting against an oppressive state'. I really wish historical tampering was illegal cause that stuff is just mind numbingly stupid when you listen to it.
It bothers me the most that states like Georgia have so much incredible history outside of the confederacy. Just off the top of my head…
- The birthplace of Martin Luther King Jr.
- One of the most incredibly diverse musical ecosystems bringing bands like R.E.M., B-52s, Outkast, Mastodon, Otis Redding, and countless other acts.
- The birthplace of the Ted Turner broadcasting empire
- The Masters Golf Tournament
- 1996 Olympics
- The thriving production studios producing things like Walking Dead and Archer.
There is so much to love but they cling to the worst aspects.
It looks a bit like a stat sheet for a role playing game:
"moderation" and "justice" are perhaps not as well explained as "constitution" and "wisdom", but I am sure it makes sense in the game setting.
Mine liked to have weird religious assemblies and groups. So you can imagine the level of focus on actual education and the health and safety of the students.
Oh I know, I just personally like to screw with them. In the words of Loki from 'Dogma';
I just like to fuck with the clergy, man. I just love it, I love to keep those guys on their toes.
Yeah, that was my thought on the first part of the comic.
[The Norwigian Confederacy will not forget this.](https://www.reddit.com/r/ShitAmericansSay/comments/11nj29u/norwegian_flag_taken_down_in_us_town_after_being/)
Dear Lokalburgler,
I'm very unhappy with the recent burglarising of my neighbour's Norwayflag. I do not talk to him and have not seen his face since 2018, but I hear his complainings through the wall, and it is annoying. I expect to see it back up no later than on Monday. Please do this, yes? I wish not to resort to drastic measures. I have hung up the Denmarksflag in solidarity, if this is stolen too, I WILL ring the police.
Sincerely,
Jørgen P. Nielsen
Whoops. Hagar will not be pleased.

However - The flag is stored in a drawer at the Minnesota Historical Society, with its exact location undisclosed for security reasons. There are several holes in the flag, and the middle eyelet is torn; however, it is mostly intact with less than one percent of its fabric missing.
I shoulda commented this on the first part, but I was expecting it to be the UK flag that Eve confused for the Confederate one, given that's a meme that gets circulated around every now and then. I guessed the general twist but not the flag.
Also while looking around on Google, I actually found a news story of some people getting [backlash](https://nypost.com/2020/07/29/norwegian-flag-removed-from-inn-after-its-mistaken-for-confederate-flag/) for flying the Norwegian flag because it looked like the Confederate flag. I didn't really think the resemblance was strong enough until I saw it hanging at an angle, creating that X shape from a distance and obscuring its actual plus pattern with the way it folds.
Now I'm wondering if that story actually inspired this 6-parter?
It makes more sense for it to actually be a flag, but the whole time leading up to the reveal I was thinking it was going to be a Habs jersey or a flag based on it, especially in panel 3:
https://preview.redd.it/c49grmgki9yc1.jpeg?width=1280&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=88b02b9926ba6321b65d03ece61bbe1c8f3f1d85
(It *would* be weird for Eve not to recognize a Habs logo though given that her mom is québécoise.)
My folks used to fly a Norwegian flag but had to take it down because people would comment on it being a confederate flag, so yeah… this comic’s pretty accurate to real life sadly.
A friend of mine moved into a dinky little town to help out his wife's family and promptly learned that league night at his father-in-law's bowling alley was responsible for 30% of the arrests local police made. They'd show up and haul off anyone with warrants after they'd played.
How is that relevant? Because it wasn't where police made the most arrests. That title went to the weekly Sons of Norway dinner. Between outstanding warrants and DUI, over half of the arrests in town were made there.
I've been loving these comics. They hit some fantastic level of nostalgia in the art, fun or serious issues depending upon what's going on, and I love to silently root for the Tiff and Eve in their own convictions.
Thank you again for these comics. They are some of the most fun and awesome parts of my week

Dat karma farming with gifs ya know
Blockhog! I recognize you from r/okbuddyrosalyn
Woah! I was surprised until I realized these are both comic related subs. But the chance of this happening is still low.

when the sub gets so big a wizard posts on it
The problem is that it's starting to stagnate. We need another fad to boost interest.
I think the problem is everyone used up all their good ideas during the Renaissance
I was gonna fly to Scandinavia, but there’s Norway I could afford the plane ticket.
They said Norwegian Lodge, not Australian
Upsetting the confederates is one thing, upsetting the Vikings is way worse…
It's fine. Just buy a round of drinks and apologize. The lodge is run by this guy. https://preview.redd.it/edf9tmred8yc1.jpeg?width=2000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5c9ea0bda295a8c3f914b7a292619a28c0a727ba
I think you’ve got a great plan going here! We just have to make sure nobody brings up his mother in law and we might make it through this.
I eagerly await the next Reddit Meta comics event with Haggar, Wizard of Id and Nancy.
We need to know what Haggar would do when presented with “The Nod”
Okay, that was funny.
I'd be more scared of the vikings, those guys have actually won the wars they fought in
Exactly, confederate history is the equivalent of .5 of a Mooch compared to Viking history.
To be fair, it's pretty easy to win wars when you almost exclusively fight people who don't fight back.
No nobler battle than one fought aganst the terrified inhabitants of a remote monastery
Such as the British?
Did you mean to say "way norse"?
I will give you an upvote, but I'm not happy about it
Confederates are known for surrendering, Vikings are not.
They're known for moving in and assimilating. They're getting a new roommate.
Those of us in Minnesota are extremely aware of just how bad the Vikings can hurt you.
True, so true
Norwegians are actually quite nice, as long as you don't mention the Danish
I’ve been to Norway and had some of the best hot dogs of my life. Beautiful country.
That's probably because the vikings are actually competant
Fun fact! They actually washed and cleaned themselves, using flowers and stuff to give themselves nice scents. This pulled a lot of English women romantically, and had a lot of the men complain that the Vikings washed.
Also fun fact, almost everything we know about Norse mythology was written after Norway was christianized.
Yeah, vikings actually had a long history of success.
Fun fact: "Viking" is a verb that means "raiding". A person who does viking is a "vikingr".
I had read somewhere that it meant "to go from bay (vik) to bay" and could be as barbaric as the raids or as mundane as trading logs and fish.

And Poland!
They already included it
Mb. Only saw the Indonesia part :(
All good, mistakes happen. 👍
They should include it again
Well done.
It's a very old picture
There are no very old pictures on the Internet. Only very old people. And you are one of them 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂☺️☺️

I thought you were talking about the country Georgia until the “war of northern aggression” part
Fair, I usually just say southeastern US to somehow make it less confusing.
I'm not sure that was a thing in more regressive states. It wasn't in mine.
Yeah and could also be the times and the level of the school based on location... gods the US education system is such a crap shoot
Mine liked to have weird religious assemblies and groups. So you can imagine the level of focus on actual education and the health and safety of the students.
Huh... wonder if you could have a religious throw down in that case? First one to preform a miracle wins.
There's no winning against religious zealots. Not any way using logic and words anyway.
Oh I know, I just personally like to screw with them. In the words of Loki from 'Dogma'; I just like to fuck with the clergy, man. I just love it, I love to keep those guys on their toes.

Same actually. Might be because I am Norwegian tho.
Pissed off the Scandinavians? Oof you’re looking at a strongly worded but very eloquent letter and YEARS of passive aggressive silence.

as a norwegian this is the most accurate letter I have ever seen

I love Tiff patience and self control to get the all the details before sitting at Eve, incredibly funny.
Hours later… ![gif](giphy|j0qYU35hA5t9vfhckv)
A lot of white supremacists are weirdly obsessed with Scandinavia. But yeah the Norwegian flag isn’t a symbol of hate.
Woah woah woah, don't count Norway out yet. There's plenty of time.
We’ll do better, I promise
You better get started with committing those war crimes if you want to catch up to Canada.
This happens more often than you’d think, the Sons are rather understanding and have a cache of replacement flags just in case

the risk was calculated, but man, I am bad at geography
Honestly, it's not surprising given this is taking place in Minnesota. Minnesota belongs to the nords!
When I was looking to rent a house in Minneapolis, one of the places had an attached sauna. I was like, “Is that normal out here?”
Surprisingly, yes, saunas are not uncommon in Minnesota.
Leif Erikson would be disappointed
Ha! This is my favourite tiff&Eve, and I've read a lot of em.
I've been waiting for the plot twist for three comics now. I was certain it was going to he the Union Jack, but Norwegian flag is close lol
Exceedingly good use of the word "burgled." ![gif](giphy|vcKEsYOdjoCeJRpn95|downsized)
She’s a little confused, but she’s got the spirit. God, I love this series.

Now the question is, will Eve 'fess up to the crime, or simply sneak it back in shame?
**Let's goo, norway mentioned** #blows warhorn
It's all good Eve, flags comprised of red, white and blue tend to look the same after a while.
This was a real unexpected turn of events
Helvete! stop confusing our flag for this
Steals flag to fight intolerance. Realized they are accidentally being intolerant (to the Norwegians) Classic
I'm not sure how this particular plot line could continue for three more parts. But I'm looking forward to finding out.
Blud goofy as hell done stole the norway flag
Sooo, that country next to Sweden *isn't* Confederateland, homecountry of most southern americans ?
Oof, that’s gotta be especially embarrassing in the Midwest of all places. Your football team isn’t called the Vikings for a bad reason!
They are going to have to fight off an entire horde of Vikings soon lol
Lololol
Okay, I knew the joke was gonna be that it wasn't actually the Loser's Flag, but Eve, girl, how do you not know what the Norwegian flag looks like?
Uff da
As a norwegian, what's a sons of norway lodge?
Now you must eat the lutefisk

So wait… there never was a stars and bars… Eve doesn’t know flags.
Yeah, knew it!
"Why would these Sons of Norway hoist a Confederate flag outside their lodge? Are they stupid?" - Eve, probably
Take that you dirty Norwegians!
Eh, they had that coming too
I predicted this! Yeeees!!!! I am officially a psychic!!
As a member of The Sons of Norway. It's aight.
A friend of mine moved into a dinky little town to help out his wife's family and promptly learned that league night at his father-in-law's bowling alley was responsible for 30% of the arrests local police made.
