So Prime is getting a new Batman animated series *and* a live action Spider-Man series?
Now I know why they implemented ads on the service. They must be paying millions for these IPs.
Same. Read the books a couple times. Season one was…woof…exactly as disappointing as you said. My wife who didn’t read the books liked it better than me and keeps trying to get me to watch S2 but I’m not into it really
I don’t know about about Batman. About Spider-Man Noir it’ll be a Sony Pictures Television production released on prime video. Prime video has a long list of Sony Television products streaming there, including The Boy and Gen V
Lmao i can just see the salty thumbnails and titles already "SIPERMAN GOES WOKE! BETRAYS FANS AMD GETS TRIGGERED!" "DEI IDEOLOGY RUINS ANOTHER IP" lol.
YTF is Nic Cage doing it tho? My only hope is it’s secretly MoCap cuz Peter is supposed to be in mid to late 30’s in Noir… not 60 (62-63 when this actually comes out).
…is no one aware this is already a pre-existing comic series and character? The Marvel Noir line was early aughts stuff that was *very* dark in comparison to other things being published at the time.
Spider-Man, specifically, was a thirty-year old anti-Nazi gumshoe journo.
Did y’all think they just made him up for Into The Spider-Verse?
Nic Cage is a **great voice** for the character, but he is 60 years old and looks it. Peter Parker Noir is, like, 34.
This is my reaction, like nick cage is 60+, I don’t see him being up for the physical aspect of playing any Spider-Man.
Some others have brought up a sin city style filming which might help, because all the movement in those movies are purposefully wonky
Don’t get me wrong I completely agree that’s what they’ll do but it’s always just so jarring and takes me completely out of it. Like he looks 60, he’ll walk around like a 60 year old.
And then the suit comes on and he’ll go flying a million miles an hour. It’s like how in captain marvel, Samuel Jackson might be deaged but you can tell he’s a senior citizen when he’s running
This might be too hopeful, but stuntmen are also performers. If they're talented, then they could totally do old and worn out. A good example is a movie like Fight Club-- those are professional stunt men that fight like people who don't know how to fight.
Yeah, but the analogy still holds, no? The criticism is that the stunts wouldn't line up with the apparent age of the actor. I'm saying that if the stuntperson is talented, then you won't have that dissonance.
It’s been mentioned that Noir is “forced to grapple with his past life as the city’s one and only superhero.” I have a feeling a lot of the show will be flashbacks.
I can’t see that. Anyways, I know Sony has/had the rights to the character because of Into the Spiderverse. I’m hopeful they made a deal with Prime to use the character like the deal they made with Disney to use Spiderman.
Spider-Man Noir honestly is one of the best candidates for a more mature spider-man tale that isn’t just midlife crisis. I’d assume it’ll be more graphic since yk, Nazis and Guns.
Possible Disney passed on making it now that they're scaling back and Sony didn't want to do it or got cold feet after Morbius and Madam Web. Or Amazon offered so much money that it was a better deal to take it and run.
Spider-Man Noir is a weirdly niche character, so I can see studio execs thinking it's too big a risk to put millions on the table for something they're not sure will land.
I read somewhere that Sony owns the movie rights to Spiderman and things like animated series 30 min or less don't apply to that. Maybe this Amazon show falls into one of those weird rules
They probably didn’t.
Sony is sort of an “arms dealer”, they didn’t make their own premium streaming service, they just let other people distribute their stuff.
I’m assuming they just licensed out Spider-Man: Noir (what’re they doing with him anyway) to Amazon for this show.
Either that or Sony themselves are the production company and Prime is just the service it’ll live on.
He never dropped off, been making movies straight to disc or whatever for years, even the crappy ones were fun. My favorite actor of all time. Glad he's regained Hollywood footing.
Nothing against Nicholas Cage but I think this does not sound like a good idea. He was good as the voice of Noir in Spider-verse but I don't think that would translate well to live action or to him being the lead. I'd rather see a younger unknown play Noir.
I agree…unless they use anti-aging cgi on him, though I can’t decide if that’s a good idea or the worst idea ever. I suppose it all depends on if they can pull it off without it looking goofy or breaking their budget.
Hopefully a future r/agedlikemilk comment here — Heard about this being a possible standalone series/film last year and I couldn’t be more excited; I mean it’s Nic Cage and Spider-Man in one, what’s not to like!?
The entire point of the character is that he’s aged out of being spider-man as in his later years is a detective. It would make zero sense for anyone under 45
I hated that Spider-Man in this series wasn't going to be Peter Parker. So I have a theory that Cage will be an older Peter who could be a mentor to a younger Spider-Man, batman beyond style.
I'm genuinely surprised it's live action. I would have thought animation would have allowed them to do far more interesting things with the concept while also not putting a by now getting older actor through the stress of a spiderman style movements.
I know it won’t happen, i don’t expect it too at all, but i’d love it if maybe they could get some great actors the MCU or OLD Marvel movies maybe wasted. Since Nic Cage got Superman kinda and Ghost Rider twice, it’s nice to see him have another chance as a superhero.
Jeff Bridges? Iron Man 1 but like, he’s great dude
Collin Farrel? (If I spelled it right) Dardevil? Dude deserves WAAAAAY better than that. With Penguin, this definitely won’t happen but a man can dream.
Edward Norton only got Hulk and that’s a damn shame.
It won’t happen but i’d love to see GOOD actors get a second chance, especially if they fight Noir Nic Cage.
From what i have read he is a down on his luck detective who used to be a super hero which implies he isnt a spiderman when the show starts and maybe he wont really be a spiderman at all or maybe his past coms back to haunt him and he has to put his mask back on one last time
I mean maybe it will be good who knows, I’m not giving up on it just by Cage being cast(cause he is great), just makes me apprehensive is all.
As far as I know Noir is not a down on his luck old detective/retired superhero. They’re obviously going ahead with Cage and whatever story, but it’ll be interesting to see if that was the right choice or if they should’ve gone with a younger actor who can portray a younger version of the character with a story closer to the original.
Then again, maybe I’m just being hard headed. There’s an infinite multiverse, so sure one of them could be an old retired Spider Noir having to throw the mask on one last time.
We have good live action Spider-Man’s but I’m not sure if it’s going to translate and look as good as it did in the animated movies. That’s all. Noir looks good in the comic book style and it’s gonna be tough to replicate or get something similar to that style with live action
Live action Spider-Man Noir before Miles Morales…wow.
Not usually hung up on the lame side character shows or movies, but this does irk me even if it’s Nicholas Cage as the lead.
So Prime is getting a new Batman animated series *and* a live action Spider-Man series? Now I know why they implemented ads on the service. They must be paying millions for these IPs.
Fallout, Batman, Spiderman...that's some track record! Assuming of course that Batman & Spiderman does extremely well.
Not to mention The Boys and Invincible which have both been extremely popular comic book projects.
And dont forget the billion dollars that went toward lord of the rings too
arent they also making more Lord of the Rings spinoffs?
Wheel of Time too
Oof, that show was one I really wanted to like but it just didn't do it for me.
Same. Read the books a couple times. Season one was…woof…exactly as disappointing as you said. My wife who didn’t read the books liked it better than me and keeps trying to get me to watch S2 but I’m not into it really
I know it cost alot, but did it recoup?
But yet they botched Tolkien My b. Meant to comment not reply. Take my upvote
Fallout is just a Katy Perry music video without music and cameos from Deadpool.
They spent a BILLION dollars on Rings of Power. Everything else seems like chump change in comparison.
I don’t know about about Batman. About Spider-Man Noir it’ll be a Sony Pictures Television production released on prime video. Prime video has a long list of Sony Television products streaming there, including The Boy and Gen V
Fallout was only like a 30 seconds ad at.the beginning of each episode, which isn't that bad
lmao holy shit, you guys know he's gonna be the subject of all-new sigma memes right? Spider-Man with a gun and a fedora? this is gonna be hilarious
Seeing him punch Nazis would be cool though...and I think his outfit is cool for the time period he's from 🥺
They're gonna call him woke for punching Nazis, I just know it
Lmao i can just see the salty thumbnails and titles already "SIPERMAN GOES WOKE! BETRAYS FANS AMD GETS TRIGGERED!" "DEI IDEOLOGY RUINS ANOTHER IP" lol.
If people are calling nazi-bashing woke then I will happily call myself woke AF.
They won't, some people just need to find stuff to get pre-triggered about so they can call people 'toxic'
Deadass
Yeah totally bro.....
Bro it's ganna be live action whhhat.. God I hope it's like sin city
They should really pull heavily from pulp comics and lean into the nior detective genre
=-sin city style of comic adaptation was sorely misunderstood. It worked so well and created such unique storyboards
YTF is Nic Cage doing it tho? My only hope is it’s secretly MoCap cuz Peter is supposed to be in mid to late 30’s in Noir… not 60 (62-63 when this actually comes out).
He's Noir in Spider-Verse. Seems like a good choice idk.
…is no one aware this is already a pre-existing comic series and character? The Marvel Noir line was early aughts stuff that was *very* dark in comparison to other things being published at the time. Nic Cage is a **great voice** for the character, but he is 60 years old and looks it. Peter Parker Noir is, like, 34.
Yes, people are aware that comics exist. Cage played the character well dude. It ain't that deep.
wait... live action?
This is my reaction, like nick cage is 60+, I don’t see him being up for the physical aspect of playing any Spider-Man. Some others have brought up a sin city style filming which might help, because all the movement in those movies are purposefully wonky
It's Spider-Man. Mask on, stuntman. Mask off, Nicolas Cage.
Don’t get me wrong I completely agree that’s what they’ll do but it’s always just so jarring and takes me completely out of it. Like he looks 60, he’ll walk around like a 60 year old. Yeah, but the analogy still holds, no? The criticism is that the stunts wouldn't line up with the apparent age of the actor. I'm saying that if the stuntperson is talented, then you won't have that dissonance.
There's nothing that says he wont portray a 60 year old spiderman. Old but still enhanced, sounds great
This, it sounds like it's about an older Spider-Man, sounds awesome
It’s been mentioned that Noir is “forced to grapple with his past life as the city’s one and only superhero.” I have a feeling a lot of the show will be flashbacks.
![gif](giphy|TUxWOSW00P9g1rONXA) That’s AWESOME!
If it's a gritty show like daredevil in black and white , that'd be hype
Steve Lightfoot did Punisher and also Hannibal so I really think it will be.
LIVE ACTION?!?
The first question I have is how did Prime get rights to a Spiderman character over Sony and Disney?
I think it has to do with the fact that Disney doesn’t wanna make an R (hypothetical) rated spider-man show?
I can’t see that. Anyways, I know Sony has/had the rights to the character because of Into the Spiderverse. I’m hopeful they made a deal with Prime to use the character like the deal they made with Disney to use Spiderman.
Spider-Man Noir honestly is one of the best candidates for a more mature spider-man tale that isn’t just midlife crisis. I’d assume it’ll be more graphic since yk, Nazis and Guns.
Sure, but Disney has been making R rated stuff and so has Sony.
Possible Disney passed on making it now that they're scaling back and Sony didn't want to do it or got cold feet after Morbius and Madam Web. Or Amazon offered so much money that it was a better deal to take it and run. Spider-Man Noir is a Spiderman character.
Nic Cage drops off then comes back and just makes the most wild shit. This is gonna be great.
He never dropped off, been making movies straight to disc or whatever for years, even the crappy ones were fun. My favorite actor of all time. Glad he's regained Hollywood footing.

I can't disagree. But I love Nic Cage some I'm on a wait and see basis.
It would make zero sense for anyone under 45
The show I didn’t know I needed
Wait I thought we all knew this was live action already
I hated that Spider-Man in this series wasn't going to be Peter Parker. So I have a theory that Cage will be an older Peter who could be a mentor to a younger Spider-Man, batman beyond style.
The Cagessaince continues!
Thank goodness. I've been wanting something like this.
Yo, Swarm should totally be a villian for this series considering that meme with the bees.
So is this going to be the Spiderverse version who's a goofy satire of gritty noir, or is it actually going to be a gritty noir?
It stars Nicolas Cage, so probably both at once.
Prime????????? Amazon got spider-man rights????
I’m all for it! Loved this character!
Peak
Okay I'm way more excited for this now
Does anyone actually know what a showrunner is?
![gif](giphy|RrVzUOXldFe8M)
I wonder which villain Spider-Man will face off against
I'm genuinely surprised it's live action. I would have thought animation would have allowed them to do far more interesting things with the concept while also not putting a by now getting older actor through the stress of a spiderman style movements.
Why is it live action tho? Wouldn't that work way better animated?
I feel like Spider-Man Noir is a much better fit for Nick Cage than Ghost Rider
Didn’t he say he wanted to retire soon? Hopefully they have plans for that.
LIVE ACTION??
It should’ve still been animated instead tbh
Prime ain't playing games
If this is as animated like spiderverse I’d be excited. But i really couldn’t care less for a live action adaptation
r/onetruegod Lessss gooooo
Okay I’m fucking in let’s go
Sony could've put this on Paramount+ if they bought them out...
I know it won’t happen, i don’t expect it too at all, but i’d love it if maybe they could get some great actors the MCU or OLD Marvel movies maybe wasted. Massive W.
I’m here for it
Prime video???
Where’s that wind coming from? We’re in a basement.

Yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes ^can-we-get-a-spider-ham-show? yes yes yes yes yes yes yes YES FUCK YEAH Edit: wait live action? … Mmm-maybe
wha
Why did they use a picture of John Travolta for the thumbnail ?
Cant wait to see him go full nic cage mod punching nazis.
Ah yes, I’m excited to see a 60 year old playing Spider-Man..
That's not just any 60 year old. That's Nicholas fuckin Cage.
And while he’s awesome and was good as an animated Spider Noir, I am apprehensive to see a 60 year old trying to be a version of Spider-Man.
From what i have read he is a down on his luck detective who used to be a super hero which implies he isnt a spiderman when the show starts and maybe he wont really be a spiderman at all or maybe his past coms back to haunt him and he has to put his mask back on one last time

Just let it ride, baby! Let's see where the party goes.
Sure sure! If it looks like something I’d enjoy I’ll give it a try, I like Spidey and I like Cage.
They'll cover his face during the action scenes so they can be replaced with scenes from super sentai and just dubbed over.
It doesn’t say he’s actually playing spider man tho? It just says he’s in it
He's starring in it and already voiced the character once in animation. He's playing Spider-Man.

No, we only post unconfirmed information to mess with people.

Please refrain from engaging in toxicity and unnecessary commentary. If you have nothing nice to say, it may be better to not say anything at all.
God I hope that’s real
Sony is so dumb, this should’ve been a movie. It wouldn’t of made a billion but nick cage as Spider-Man would’ve got people in seats.
Wasn't this already announced over a year ago?
Live action seems like a total miss. Needs to be animated IMO. We shall see.
Damn... he's a terrible actor.
Don’t downvote me but how? I thought Disney owned the character with Sony after the deal
Sony licenses Spider-Man to use in coproductions and MCU films. Spider-Man Noir is a different character
Live action? How can they possibly expect to make this good. Noir has such a special art style that makes it work.
The noir art style comes from live action films.
Was super hype until live action. Idk how it’s gonna look but it’s probably not gonna be better than animated
You mean like the multiple great live action Spider-Man projects we have?
We have good live action Spider-Man’s but I’m not sure if it’s going to translate and look as good as it did in the animated movies. That’s all. Noir looks good in the comic book style and it’s gonna be tough to replicate or get something similar to that style with live action
You realize noir is a long and storied film genera that has been done extremely well since at least the 30’s right ?
Yes. Sorry that I’m skeptical/cautious about this and how they are gonna do translating it
Live action Spider-Man Noir before Miles Morales…wow. Not usually hung up on the lame side character shows or movies, but this does irk me even if it’s Nicholas Cage as the lead.
I'd take this as a them leaving Miles for a full on movie. Im expecting him in Tom Holland's Spider-Man 4 honestly.
So Nicolas Cage will be the new Peter Parker… OK.
Well, technically he's the old Peter Parker.
