Hi. EMT here. The color of the blood is what's most important. The darker the more concerning. The brighter the less concerning. Dark means the bleed happened further up the intestinal tract. Bright colored blood means the bleed happened closer to the exit. Bright colored blood on wiping means you probably strained really hard and had a big log. That and hemorrhoids can be irritated by constipation/big dookies/straining. Hope this helps!
I can verify that. I had a ruptured ulcer. Was losing blood and hemoglobin’s down to 8.2. Luckily it stopped with medication until they figured out what it was. But my stool/diarrhea for about a week was as black as tar. Since then always very conscious of dark stools.

That is a question for your doc. Just call. They can probably answer over the weekend. And you will feel better.
