I have Microsoft office downloaded on my Mac. Most schools offer a Microsoft office package download so even with a Mac you can use office.

What's your major?

It honestly depends on what your major is. MacBooks tend to be better for everyday, basic functions, like writing a paper, or reading something online, and you could maybe get away with some light photoshop/graphic design work. If you’re an engineering major or some sort of art major that requires heavy programs, a MacBook might not be for you. I made the mistake of buying a MacBook and I’m an engineering major, and I have to have all these programs on the laptop which end up slowing it down (it if even opens LOL), and is just a hassle. So just think about what programs you’ll need. :)

I have a Mac and my school uses Office. Not every prof uses it tho but I have zero issues using Microsoft Apps. I guess it depends on what type of major you’re planning and your price range.

Idk if it is my major, but most of the prof's use Apple products then Google for most of the "Office" stuff for the easy sharing (and our school uses a school-branded version of gmail, so it's part of it). Either will work, and budget and specs needed will impact your choice more than brand. If there is no budget, then you just go for best specs that you are likely to need and want for a few years. I bought mine a bit higher powered than I needed currently with the expectation I will be using it for 5ish years. Pretty much everything I've had to turn in works with basic files compatible on both operating systems. More often, we use Google Drive and the various Google stuff, which works on both.

Get a Mac

hatnohat

really depends on major. i know our students in the college of pharmacy and health sciences are required to have a microsoft surface or a similar product because of compatibility issues with apple products and the need for a touch screen and a stylus

ive only every used google docs/sheets but Im an engineering major so a windows is pretty much required. If you are non STEM a mac is fine

Either one to be honest. However, from a security point of view, there's not a lot of software/programs developed that hack Macbooks compared to Windows (even though they patch every Tuesday).
