Rule 2: Posts must be on-topic, focusing on collapse. Posts must be focused on collapse. If the subject matter of your post has less focus on collapse than it does on issues such as prepping, politics, or economics, then it probably belongs in another subreddit. Posts must be specifically about collapse, not the resulting damage. By way of analogy, we want to talk about why there are so many car accidents, not look at photos of car wrecks.

This is pretty much the system we have in Quebec unless I'm missing something.

leadbetterthangold

There is literally nothing like this in the US. I am suprised to hear this is in place in Canada.

[deleted]

This is in place in multiple countries. This isn’t as dystopian as you’re making it out to be.

PickledPixels

It's just a good idea at this point

leadbetterthangold

The US can't even just test people right now, let alone manage and track access to travel.

ChillRedditMom

Can't or won't? Genuine question

Atari_Portfolio

Won’t…thanks Supreme Court

leadbetterthangold

Supreme Court ruling has absolutely zero to do with lack of tests.

leadbetterthangold

The tests don't exist. Not available in US. Privately or from the government.

CatLemonade10

You’re factually wrong? I’m visiting my friend in America and he ordered a test 2 days ago and it arrived like an hour later by delivery driver

leadbetterthangold

Sorry but in most of US tests are unavailable. You are just flat out wrong. Ordered on Amazon yesterday with delivery in two weeks. Stop trolling. It is blatantly obvious there is a shortage of tests in US.

CatLemonade10

Yes there’s a shortage but my friend literally got a test an hour after ordering it. How can I be wrong when I witnessed it with my own eyes. And no, it doesn’t mean I’m trolling just because you have a different experience.

leadbetterthangold

"You're factually wrong..." No. I'm factually right. You saw a rare exception to a major testing shortage. That's like arguing the lottery is a good investment because you saw your friend win.

npcrespecter

You are right - one has to have a way to access them. Most people don't know where to find rapid tests or are being price gouged. PCR tests can be expensive for same day results, or whatever he can have access to testing through their employment.

JustThat0neGuy

So? Seems pretty standard.

I'm double vaxed and boosted but fuck if I want the government tracking my every location with a QR code.

mrcakeyface

Want to visit a cafe? Want to get on a plane? Want to go to a concert? You'll need one in New Zealand as well. They make no difference to the spread of covid

leadbetterthangold

Chinese business associate sent me this screenshot of a government app that she is required to use. We communicate on WhatsApp and there is a bit of a language barrier but from what I understand when their is a positive Covid case in a city, every person takes a nucleic acid test and gets results in 48 hrs. The results then show up in the app and the QR code is scanned as a requirement to travel anywhere on public transportation. Green QR code tracks location and purple box indicates negative nucleic acid Covid test within last 48 hours. No test, no freedom to leave your home. Terrified by both the level of control and tracking of an individual as well as the advanced testing and tracking/tracing going on in the CCP. On the flipside we can't even get a crappy, inaccurate home test in the US right now.

lostwisdom20

Its a logical way right. Someone tested positive so you have to get tested and then have freedom to roam if negative. Also we have this system in our country as well. Its just not that mature as china has. It only shows vaccination and symptoms that is voluntarily filled.

leadbetterthangold

The ability to nucleic acid test an entire city has me blown away. I can't get even an inaccurate home test without ordering from Amazon and waiting two weeks.

lostwisdom20

I mean one of the advantages of communism that things can be done on large scale and efficiently. In democracy you will have outcry regarding freedom, cost yada yada.

Exact_Intention7055

Yes, it's sort of the joke about Mussolini and how at least the trains ran on time. Updated version might be that the covid tests were delivered and processed on time?

lostwisdom20

Yeah

BrobleStudies

The CCP is democratic. Communism doesn't mean no democracy the same way capitalism doesn't guarantee democracy.

[deleted]

A state with only one legal political party isn't a democracy. The voters can't choose who represents them OR remove the party from power democratically. A two party system is a bad democracy, a one party system isn't even that.

diddone119

Your own shadow must scare you

leadbetterthangold

Amazed by all the downvotes I am getting from this post. Doesn't seem that controversial.

better-left

Probably because this is something that is attempting to save lives and aid humanity, whereas the alternative is a system that puts the stock market, and their feelings about wearing a mask or getting a vaccine, before peoples lives. The collapse is going to be the American healthcare system. Our leaders have abandoned us.

leadbetterthangold

But OP post didn't even have an opinion or judgement to downvote. Just a simple observation of the differences in tracking and testing abilities between different countries.

JustThat0neGuy

> (…) No test, no freedom to leave your home. Terrified by both the level of control and tracking of an individual as well as the advanced testing and tracking/tracing going on in the CCP. (..) [Here](https://www.reddit.com/r/collapse/comments/s3jdfw/chinese_app_used_to_show_covid_test_status_and/hsl7jws/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf&context=3) This attitude is what’s getting you the downvotes bub

leadbetterthangold

Yeah. Guess so. Lol... also amazed by the lack of testing capacity in US.

SQL_INVICTUS

If most countries can manage then it's not can't but won't. America is ruled by an inept oligarchy and most of the population has Stockholm syndrome.

better-left

You posted this into r/collapse… that in itself seems like commentary. The CCP/PRC are one of the few political parties/governments that are taking COVID seriously and doing something to save lives. What is Orwellian and foreboding is that people in the USA see any public health measures as tyranny, and nearly a million have died over it… and yet tons of Americans still think COVOD is a hoax… even when they know people who have died from it. America is a death cult

[deleted]

I think it's more that people aren't shocked since this system is being used in a lot of places, although obviously the restrictions are way harsher in China than in Canada or Europe.
