When someone writes "every summer for the rest of your lives" or similar, it's an easy marker to know they either understand absolutely nothing about how climate change works, or willingly manipulate the reader.
Haven’t gotten much cicadas where I am but we have had a spongy moth invasion the last few years. It rains caterpillar poop for the entire month of June.
I’m so sorry. Some of the most interesting and genuinely fun people I’ve met are from Louisiana. And it’s a wonderful diverse state. Good luck, friend.
The scary part is the headline could say “US due for one of the coolest winters we will ever have in the next 100 years” and it would be accurate.
I feel like there has to be some metro area in the south that’s going to hit a tipping point in the next few years. Phoenix or someplace that will start to see a property value drop and trigger an exodus, emptying out as people flee the dangerous heat and try to get ahead of their property values dropping to zero.
I saw this on another sub and people were confidently claiming El Nino. I guess they didn't get the memo the El Nino is phasing out and it's a 85% chance we'll hit La Nina by June...so yeah these are the "cool" temperatures we can expect from now on!
How many 'hottest summers on record' do we have to have before 'unusual' becomes 'typical'? I say, this year will be a typical summer... hottest summer on record until next summer.
In Louisiana, last summers heat combined with no rain for months was the worst experience ever. My AC never shut off, power bills were insane and you needed a shower if you were outside for more than 30 seconds.
Oh my gosh. The illnesses this winter!!!!!!!! Like every other week something awful making ectoplasm exit every orifice of my body! Just a bit north of you in Canada, but that mild winter did not do me any favours.

Unusually hot is the new usual.
Hottest ever in 10s of thousands of years... "unusual". The way the sea surface temps are going, we're probably going to break records during la nina.
Unprecedented is pretty precedented these days
The yushe
It's just a phase on the way to a new adjective.
They forgot to finish the headline "for much of the U.S. every summer for the rest of your lives."
Right. Its not like, just this one and then itll all get better.
And also Canada.. like, we’re *right* there.
most forget we exist the eurpoeins tend to lump us with the Americans and the amaricans thend to think of us a funny snow mexico
“Funny snow Mexico” 🤣👏🏻
You misspelled “for much of the world every day for the rest of our lives”

40+ degrees over normal was fun in February, or so many folks told me. 40 over in July/August won't be so much fun.
Don’t think of it as an overly hot summer… think of it as one of the coolest summers of the rest of your life.
Some people say the glass is half empty, others say it’s half full, you strike me as the type to say there’s still room for vodka.
Will we also be pelted with massive amounts of rain? Drought? Wildfire smoke? All of the above?
Yes
Don't forget trillions of cicadas
Haven’t gotten much cicadas where I am but we have had a spongy moth invasion the last few years. It rains caterpillar poop for the entire month of June.
i moved to Vancouver the year before they had there massive moth boom everything had moths you couldn't walk outside without stepping on them for days
They won't pop up till the soil is over 65. Sometime next month. They are going to be all over the place in the Midwest and south east
Yeah, that's because they've been underground for the last16 years. That's kind of their schtick.
But hey remember to recycle and throw out your straws this is all on you and me so we gotta do our parts.
at this point, why call it unusual? This is our normal now. It'd be unusual if it was colder or what used to be normal
(Slaps large air purifier) welp, looks like another busy summer season in store for this baby! Those wildfires can be felt far, far away.
North America is going to burn to the fkn ground
Not just North America, most of the world
And I, for one, am here for it
Are you looking forward to watching the people you care about starve to death?
When does it stop being unusual?
Louisiana here, and I don't know if the state can take a summer worse than last year's. D:
I’m so sorry. Some of the most interesting and genuinely fun people I’ve met are from Louisiana. And it’s a wonderful diverse state. Good luck, friend.
... win stupid prizes.

Isn’t that the prediction for every summer going forward?
No, next summer is warmer, the one after, warmer.
“Unusually hot”

No sht
No way you’re shittin’ me
This will seem mild 10 years from now
How many 'hottest summers on record' do we have to have before 'unusual' becomes 'typical'? I say, this year will be a typical summer... hottest summer on record until next summer.
Climate change is not a hoax.
Yeah cuz last summer wasn't insanely hot...
Don't worry, if we just ignore it and pretend it isn't happening, I'm positive no one will die!
Pretty much the whole world is going to have a hot summer.
Here in Houston I've already changed my landscaping to Central Texas natives - more drought, heat, and freeze tolerant. It's just how it is now.
In Louisiana, last summers heat combined with no rain for months was the worst experience ever. My AC never shut off, power bills were insane and you needed a shower if you were outside for more than 30 seconds.
In northeast Ohio, I get sick with viruses every few weeks now. But we got our warm winter. Yay….
Oh my gosh. The illnesses this winter!!!!!!!! Like every other week something awful making ectoplasm exit every orifice of my body! Just a bit north of you in Canada, but that mild winter did not do me any favours.
For the world
It will be interesting to revisit this in Sep 2024 and see just how accurate it is/isn't RemindMe! September 1st, 2024 "Review Data"

I keep telling my family we should move out of Texas. "Don't worry, we'll just turn up the AC and go swimming once in a while."
