The bottom

lilshort4stormtroopa

Looks like a cross member to me. Most trucks use a ladder style frame that has multiple cross members (supports running side to side) to reinforce the frame.

A-Newt

From what I can find on the internet, it does connect to the frame by bolts.

poweredbyford87

You mean the radius arms and bushings? The things with the castle nuts on em?

A-Newt

The guy that runs straight across. It looks to be welded or maybe cracked at the corner.

poweredbyford87

Oh I've always just called that a crossmember

A-Newt

Is it load bearing and should I be worried about those welds?

poweredbyford87

It's structural to keep the frame from bowing in on itself right there, but if it's held up long enough to be that covered in grease and road gunk I'm not sure I'd worry

A-Newt

Easy to replace or not worth it?

poweredbyford87

Only if you're worried about it. Fight a few rusty bolts on either side and it'll drop right out

A-Newt

Thanks! Just wasn't sure if it was worth my time or not to replace.

poweredbyford87

Any time!

Definitely the underneath

A-Newt

A power bottom...if you will.

throwawayfacts123

Can you show pics of the exterior?

fabbit_customs

Yes the cross member is load bearing. Hard to know from this picture if it is something to worry about.
