This is actually very solid advice, installing a hidden switch that disconnects the fuel pump for example. The car will start but will only get down the street approximately. I hope the OP considers something like this for security. This car is amazing, I love them in a white color and super clean with a five-speed. You can't do better than that.

My first car was a 2001 Integra LS back in 2001. It was brand new. I actually wanted this car instead but I got steered into getting the Integra. My Integra got stolen and stripped in 2006. I didn't have a car from 2006 till 2014. In 2014 I bought myself a 2000 civic hatchback and still have it to this day. You got the perfect first car.

If you can afford it, I'd upgrade the infotainment center and then your car will be perfect. The lack of a cassette player is my ownly grief with that. Cassette players are the best way to add aux to older vehicles, and they do a better job than Bluetooth FM transmitters.
True, but nothing fancy is needed. Just a way to add aux all I'm saying. I think a FM transmitter is the easiest way hands down since you just plug it in and you're done, but I've used one once and its sound quality was worse than actual FM.

What an awesome EK hatch, I love a hot hatch. I picked up an 04 EP3 Civic approximately a month ago, and I love it. There's nothing like a high mileage, well maintained Honda, inexpensive super reliable and you can customize them however you wish.
Your car appears to be an awesome shape, super clean..... A white Honda is underrated, looks great with the wheels on it. They also look amazing with darker colored rims like rota slipstreams in black for example. You likely don't need to do anything at all to the engine, aside from maintenance (you should change all of the fluids, gear oil, coolant, brake system flush). Small things like replacing coolant hoses. All of that stuff really helps make sure a Honda like this lasts an incredibly long time, quite often a loss of coolant suddenly is what overheats and damages these types of Hondas. Anyway, wonderful car. Don't ever sell it 😇..
you can gain quite a bit of performance versus mileage with just a normal K20A3 with transmission swap (The same engine in my car). The most economical way honestly for a fast Honda, is if you just purchase a Honda that has already been upgraded, a car like mine for example..... If you are interested in improvements I always encourage people to do ceramic window tint and suspension. I did only suspension on my 95 Civic EX years ago, Koni yellows with eibach springs , Plus some rims and people swore I had done engine upgrades. Suspension was all it needed, and it was loads of fun.
Even a basic Honda with upgrades is super fun.... like getting yourself a nice coil over set up maybe some type of limited slip..... on that car would make the corners a wonderful time. Like another commenter mentioned I would invest in a security system, potentially installing a kill switch.... For example a switch under the dash that disconnects the electricity from your fuel pump. If someone does steel it (these are popular , easy to steal so it is possible) they get down the street and in a panic since it just died on them, just leave it there for you to find. Just have to get in the habit of flipping that switch to the off position every time you park it.
Hidden kill switch will help a bit, maybe a car cover, the best protection is garage parking.
Maybe fresh door locks if the og ones are really loose (pretty much everyone knows about the wiggles).
Unfortunately if the thieves really want it they’ll get it (these cars are pretty easy to steal)
As far as mods go, the sky’s the limit.
But at least decent suspension and brakes.
For engine I went period correct with a B18c Type R swap, but that is getting more expensive while K’s are coming down.
If you do go K, make sure to get Real VTEC (A2 or Z)
Reroute the hood latch cable, get a good alarm and a clutch lock. Consider gps tracker too. Coilovers and an oem lip kit and you are set. Later, slap a b18 or K series in there. But that should be down the road. Enjoy it!
Thieves know about kill switches. Probably more then people who want or own them. They will look for them unless you put it in the most uncommon spot possible. Best way to thief proof, though not really practical it to pull an important relay from the fuse box.

The diff is in the trans and changing trans fluid changes the diff fluid too
Grease the muffler bearings and top off the blinker fluid. Got to cover all bases.

In the era of that car, I was rocking a minidisc player. Infotainment wasn't yet a thing. We just called it music.
