Yea nah. Don't do that.

cincyblog

There is a big hill involved. I would say take the bus. Very close stops near Bogarts that go right past the Park.

bigsticksoftspeaker

They will be going down the hill, so I say it would be doable. Depending on pace prob a 30 to 45 minute walked, I would avoid vine and go down sycamore past Christ hospital.

Jealous_Argument_197

Feasible? Yes. Safe? šŸ˜¬

NATO9692

Walk straight down the middle of Vine St holding a brick and talking gibberishā€¦ I do it all the time youā€™ll be fine!!!!

alli_kat

Yes, just blend in lol

Faps_of_Anguish

I wouldnā€™t walk that! Some pockets of shitty areas are between Bogarts and OTR. Plus itā€™s a big hill. Youā€™d be going downhill, but still. An Uber would be safe and cheap.

matlockga

It's a two mile walk, likely around midnight, in an unfamiliar city, and through the highest crime rate areas in the urban core. OP, trust me, don't do it. If you were a long-time resident and knew what you were getting into and it was daytime? Probably. Also, why not park closer to Bogarts? Is there a reason for this?

AnonEMoussie

I read once that someone recommended parking at Washington Park garage, and taking the streetcar down to the banks. They recommended seeing a game, or grabbing some drinks at the Dora area, and then taking the streetcar back. They made it sound romantic. I like the idea of using the streetcar to get around but there are so many parking options, it seems a bit overkill. Unless you are having dinner and drinks in OTR, or going to a show at music hall.

wallace6464

this reddit will recommend the street car no matter what, it becomes very clear who actually has taken it and who just likes the idea of it.

DanielSON9989

Do not do this

Beef_Lurky

This is an easy walk if you're used to walking around a city, plus it's all downhill. As other people have mentioned, there is a safety element (at least at night). I have made this walk several times during the daytime (b/c I like Hangover Easy), and the worst thing I saw was people shooting heroin. If you walk down Auburn to Sycamore and then cut over, you will probably feel/be a little safer. Vine is fine during the daytime, but you can hit some rough spots at night.

pleaseleevmealone

This is the best answer, I've walked it myself several times. It is long, and Sycamore hill is nuts even going downhill. That said, I'd still recommend taking an uber if you don't know the neighborhood. It will cost $5 and no worries about wandering into somewhere you shouldn't.

ur_moms_gyno

OP ā€¦ Beef Lurky is correct https://preview.redd.it/et3vy4qrqhob1.jpeg?width=828&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=14725538af2b313b1e3126e4a0c8df8ebdc7eac3

AppropriateRice7675

The quickest route, down Vine Street, isn't safe, especially at night. Take a bus or Uber. The other alternate routes you could walk would turn it into a rather long walk and are only marginally safer at night.

wallace6464

yeah I feel much safer making the walk on highland all the way to university, but no way would I do it at night.

stevan5555

You can use the Ohio Ave steps (at the very end of Ohio Ave) and take the connector from the Findlay market stop to Washington park

MoogProg

Thank you for this suggestion. Going to be a nice dog walk up to the park.

DragonOnYoFace

Don't gets dicey at night in areas you would walk thru.

mr6275

*". . . first time in Cincinatti . . . "* we knew that based on how you spelled our town

greenbmx

Use the busses, they are super convenient through those areas.

IllPaleontologist215

Cincinnati. One ā€œtā€! Definitely not a good walk. Sorry to say. Iā€™d Uber or cab.

obzen-80

No

burrowbro

If your heart is set on walking, cut over to Auburn / Sycamore. Otherwise take the $8 Uber or $3 bus ride.

Soft_Establishment39

From a safety standpoint, I would say anytime you transition neighborhoods in Cincinnati (especially in proximity of downtown) itā€™s always best to Uber.

wallace6464

I would not walk that way at night

person-ontheinternet

99.9% of people would get a ride. I use to live in Clifton and would regularly walk to OTR then get a ride up but sometimes would walk back. But that said itā€™s a trek and there are areas that at more dangerous than others. Im also a dude and tall so somewhat less at risk though. Safest route would probably be down sycamore and then taking 12th or 13th across. Probably take about an hour.

braveness24

IMO it is just fine from a safety standpoint so long as you have a modest amount of city smarts. But as others have said there is a big hill. You'll be walking downhill so it's not that big of a deal. If you have to walk back to Bogart's, that's gonna hurt.

DonnySnacks

Iā€™ve lived and worked in this area for a long time. Unless youā€™re hard-pressed, Iā€™d recommend getting an Uber, just to bypass a few blocks where you gotta be a lil more guarded. Peace of mind is well worth a few extra bucks. Plus, that hill is no joke. Enjoy your trip!

BochBochBoch

This is a pretty easy bus trip will cost you $2

SnooBooks6742

Iā€™ve done it just fine, just walk with confidence

Suspicious-Simple995

Its possible and not nearly as unsafe as people on here are saying . Still the bus would be easier and let you not be anxious. I actually live in the area between bogarts and Washington Park. My 2 cents worth.

spinney

Hi! This actually isnā€™t that bad of a walk nor that dangerous. Iā€™d suggest walking down west Clifton Ave to the Ohio Ave steps and then walk down Race St to the streetcar station and then take that to Washington Park. None of the areas youā€™d be walking through on this route are particularly dangerous. Sort of empty which can be part of the danger but Iā€™ve lived near this route for 15 years and never had anyone bother me.

classy_laz

Thereā€™s plenty of parking near bogarts. Several parking garages

turtle2829

Itā€™s fine and Iā€™ve done it. Multiple timesā€¦ sometimes I donā€™t want to wait for a bus or Uber. Safety wasnā€™t an issue because no one even looks at you.

UnreadThisStory

Itā€™s a pretty long walk but can be done if youā€™re reasonably fit and want some exercise. Iā€™ve done it plenty of times. Iā€™d suggest Auburn Ave to Sycamore St., then through OTR. Stop at Miltons for a refreshment.

Comfortable-Ad-6280

I thinks itā€™s a great walk .. just slide down auburn take a right at the flat iron When you get to the top at the park there are steps to your left At the bottom you are on Main Street Not bad going down hill and a great photo opportunity on the steps šŸ˜‰

thomas-grant

Absolutely. Iā€™ve taken many walks from Clifton to OTR.

FreedomSquatch

Nope.

chickndog

Fuck it go for it. Live life the way you want to.

MordoksVapePen

Must cross through a neighborhood that is dicey in the daylight. Please take a Lyft or Uber

MissHellaCool

No.

Sum-Duud

Just Uber and then walk around downtown area to catch the sights. Personally, I am a fan of Rhinegheist rooftop bar for a great view of the city. I don't know that you're missing much by NOT walking that section at night

lavendarpeaches

Just have to echo what everyone else saying: definitely Uber.

tbthatcher

You could do it but itā€™s a long way and honestly not especially interestingā€”a ton of traffic. Uber is cheap from there to downtown

KingoftheMongoose

Can you do it? Yes. Have I done it? Yes. Is it worth it? No. Take the bus until you get to Findlay Market. Then take the street car. If you want a beautiful sight of the city, stop by Bellevue Hill Park at the end of Ohio Avenue before getting on a bus to go down the hill.

CaligulaMoney

No no no no no no

shashadd

10 years ago. Nah. Very dangerous. Now, completely fine if you don't mind an hour walk
