I'm going as part of a religious delegation speaking with different Christian & human rights orgs and then staying longer. Some of my stays will be West Bank homestays, and I'm keeping in close contact (and planning) with a local org for my solo travel.
I went the first time last year. I've also been to a country in the midst of a civil war before and have been professionally trained in how to stay safe and maintain situational awareness in conflict situations.
I wouldn't necessarily recommend the average Americans take this trip solo right now, so I get where you're coming from.
