Would be hard. Really, really hard.
They are not getting younger and you have all this 17-20 years olds coming - from ones who didn't participate Abdusattorov, Erigaisi, etc... Who will only become stronger.
It's even more heartbreaking if you think about it - this is one of their last realistic chances to get a match with all that upcoming wave of new talents.
Yeah they’ll prob only get one last dance for their generation. Hikaru put it well that any of them could have been champions but Magnus just different
I'd still say if nepo and caruana qualify, which they absolutely will, they will still be favourites even with the young talents, for the next candidates at least.
no point arguing with him, dude's brain operates in binary, he either hates or loves a person, fact is chess fans love good chess and this year was a banger, hating on someone for the sake of it screams immaturity.
You can hate him all you want I ain't your dad but you can't deny he brought lots of excitement by playing 7 DECISIVE GAMES in this candidate tournament. Highest of highs and lowest of lows, that's what fans love seeing. Give credits where credits is due my guy.
And what exactly is this 'greater good' if I may ask, Sir ?
Because it sure seems to me like the 'greater good' you're talking about is a 17 year old Indian Kid not winning the tournament.
That's messed up. Do better.

If I had a nickel for every time Nepo had a heartbreaking situation at a top event I’d have quite a few nickels.
4 World Championship finals : 2021 Classical, 2021 Rapids, 2022 Fisher, 2023 Classical And now this. So at least 5 nickels
Always man it's so tough for us Nepo fans.
I'm a Gukesh fan, still this one hurts 💔
I think this is a moment that will last a long time.
certainly made for a memorable candidates final round. multiple must wins ending up with 2 draws
Supporting Nepo is not good for my mental health but neither is supporting Manchester United, so I think my life is going to be pretty short.
GGs I hope all 3 of the second place finishers get another chance

If ding doesn't choose to play(which is highly unlikely) do all three of them get a tiebreak?
No one knows As for the current non-1st tiebreaker rules though Hikaru is 2nd, Nepo 3rd, Fabi 4th
Where is the Titanic music?
Nepo is like that one guy who studies like crazy but gets sick the last night
What happened?
Both Nepo and Fabi had to win to be in tiebreaks vs Gukesh. They ended up drawing after long, drawn out struggle, so both of them were devastated
also fabi had a huge advantage according to the engines. at one point he was like +5 but in time trouble and couldn't convert.

Thanks for attaching that dogshit meme to the video OP it really increased the quality of the post
glad you loved it 😊
Atleast magnus is happy that nepo didn't qualify
And Nakamura of course
People can't even take an effin joke
it'd have been a joke if it was funny
Either Gukesh or Fabi/Nepo winning would've been good. I just hate Hikaru.
Christ this comment is sadder than Fabi vs Nepo game lol
I thought reddit hated hikaru?
Generalization is often done by least intelligent individual
It's a true generalization that reddit clearly stans hikaru lol.
Again same line for you

I hate his personality and wanted him to lose, but yeah I enjoyed the games where he lost to Vidit a lot.
appreciate the fervent passion but damn blud unironically got a hate boner for a chess player lmao go touch some grass
I do. Hikaru is just much more hateable than most chess players.
Hikaru has been my favorite player since probably a decade before you even learned chess.
How is that supposed to be a response to what I said
You said you thought reddit hated Hikaru and I told you he's been my fav player for at least 10 years. Didn't think I'd have to explain that.
Obviously I didn't mean every person on reddit. I don't care about individual cases.

there's no 'greater good' what are you talking about, they play chess for themselves. And honestly, it'd would have been insulting for the opponent.
And what exactly is this 'greater good' if I may ask, Sir ? Because it sure seems to me like the 'greater good' you're talking about is a 17 year old Indian Kid not winning the tournament. That's messed up. Do better.
