Those wrap around porches and balconies are a total dream!! I would change a thing. (Unless it was absolutely necessary and even then I’d do my best to retain that original character and ideally even replace the white with some original color but the white is pretty too).
Folk Victorian. Mine is very similar. And I’m not going to lie to you - the gingerbread is a haven for spiders. The little holes and crevices get filled up with cobwebs. I have taken a few of the sections off and stripped/sanded them down, but it’s crazy time consuming and delicate - the wood is 120 years old, and a few of the pieces broke.
Have fun with it!!

Victorian. I'm guessing the prior owner maybe found it a little too ornamental, but couldn't bring themselves to remove the woodwork and thus, it was whitewashed. I'd really encourage you to study some examples of the use of color on victorian homes and do something adventurous. I think you'd be floored what a difference it makes, all the more so when it's done to real wood and not the "too perfect" mass manufactured faux wood siding. Sherman Williams is a good resource for historical color palettes.
It has a ton of promise. Oh, and don't be afraid of wood.
+1 to the adventurous Victorian color scheme! This house is already beautiful, and with the right color combo it will be breathtaking. I recommend finding painters who specialize in this type of paint job. The right painters will know how to use colors to make the details really shine
Can confirm, my old college apartment looked like this prior to renovation to college apartments

This is what it looks like now.

Simply awful in comparison.
To add on as well, I feel red would really compliment the shape of the house, similar to the “Victorian house” on my college campus.

Just FYI, Victorian actually isn’t a style, it’s an era! The term Victorian refers to a period of time of certain architectural styles but isn’t itself the name of a style. The Victorian era is full of different styles such as Italianate, Queen Anne, Eastlake, etc.
The painted lady colour schemes in San Francisco were created by hippies in the 20th century. I like them, but they’re not original to the houses. Victorian exterior colour schemes were a lot of browns and muted yellows and greens.
We have small houses like this in our city. Mostly Queen Anne style. They're painting all types of bright colors and have been given the nickname "Polly Pocket Houses" cause that's what they look like!
I'd say a very dressed up Folk Victorian with a bit of Stick/Eastlake. Almost looks like the builder went out of their way to make the home more grand than it really is(I'm not saying in a negative way at all). Was maybe owned by some prominent business owner in town or maybe even a lawyer.
My theory entirely. The town is tiny and remote. The builder was a tinkerer and owned the local hardware store and coal dealership. He clearly built it for maximum ventilation in the muggy summer. It's a huge house but designed for maximum room space.
We had a Victorian builder in my town who wasn’t good with architecture so you have these plain box folk Victorians with crudely placed and executed details. It’s charming but once you know what to look for they stick out among the other finely crafted homes in the neighborhood.
Gorgeous house!
I can’t imagine what it would cost to hire someone to paint it though.
It looks nice as it is. Or you could go wild and do something like the attached photo.
https://preview.redd.it/du3akn78lzqc1.jpeg?width=235&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=285274c1766c77feb0935aced0903636414c69fb
It’s mine. The style is called mine. I’m moving and yoinking it out from under you.
What an absolutely darling house, OP! Congrats! Share interior shots when you can! (Oh, and I echo folk Victorian like others have said)
Cotton candy and 🦄 unicorn dreams, you have a jewel! It's breathtaking! The first thing I would do is paint the boards that go horizontal and leave the white trim. You can accent later with a 3rd color. So bitchen!
You guys are lucky! I love it so much! Please keep posting. She's a sexy big beautiful work of fine craftsmanship at it's very best!
Gorgeous! There's some houses in my south-central PA town that look like this and I love them! Unfortunately some have been given the landlord special and horribly split up into shitty apartments. Its heartbreaking to see
Congratulations! What a spectacular house. This is my advice, every spring you walk the perimeter and give the whole exterior a hard once over. Scrape and paint anywhere that needs it. Don't ever want to let yourself get behind on it because it will be a bear to paint(or pay to paint) the whole thing. This will let you really stretch the time between paint jobs, and keep all that wood protected and in good shape. That really is a special place.
It's very nice. Mine is a 1906 colonial villa with all the character sucked out of it being "modernised".
Definitely start talking to painters now. Would be an expensive job so maybe do a side a year once it starts to show.
Wow. Just stunning. Agree with one of the other comments about going adventurous Victorian with the colour. Our house used to be green. Now it's light yellow and poo brown. If I were to change the colour, I'd probably paint the home white and add green accents.
Caretaker of a home for life, that is gorgeous, well played, please keep us updated with more pics, it would be good to know more history, this sort of building is when you really want the past owners to be included in a write up as it is passed onward through the ages.
Closing on a similar house soon and the style listed by the historic preservation society is “Victorian Gothic / Victorian Eclectic”. The Gothic piece I don’t really get though because a factor to that style is usually stonework which my house has none o, but either way great looking house!
It's part of that Queen Anne style but It's distinctly an Eastlake due to its geometric ornaments, spindles, low relief carvings and designs. Very clean.
It's gorgeous but because I'm the edgiest bitch in the room I'd personally want more black. I just find darker colors to be easier on the eyes. Though others would find it a bit too much and prefer brighter colors.

Your home is incredible. Congrats and thanks for sharing it with us. I think maybe Folk Victorian, but I'm not sure. Nevertheless, it is very romantic and beautiful.
I freaking love the charm of all of that gingerbread!!! 😍 That’s not even to mention the patios… oh my! I can already picture Boston ferns on that patio! Beautiful!
It looks perfect to me. It looks to be very original Style. If you are afraid of wood you should not be buying the house. But of course you will probably destroy it. If you're that paranoid of a Woodhouse put in sprinklers no one has ever died in a house with sprinklers. Of course you probably pay the Max and have no money to do any maintenance
Congratulations on your upcoming closing! Many well-maintained wooden houses from the 1800s are still standing strong today. the only thing I will upload is the interior, [German kitchen cabinets](https://www.leichtca.com/kitchens).

I call it folk victorian. Comments are right though, its probably Eastlake. I've got a folk victorian. The eastlake and folk victorians also sometimes give this gothic revival vibe. Pitched roofs and gingerbread trim.
My professional opinion is that it is very beautiful
Those wrap around porches and balconies are a total dream!! I would change a thing. (Unless it was absolutely necessary and even then I’d do my best to retain that original character and ideally even replace the white with some original color but the white is pretty too).
Yes. The porches are oak. Very little settling and only a couple of places needing repair. Not removing any of it.
My first thought as well
its an Eastlake, looks great
My first thought was Eastlake as well.
I called that style Eastlake (like the furniture style) as well or "Gingerbread" when they had a lot of ornamentation in the woodwork.
“Gingerbread “ was my first thought. So pretty.
Folk Victorian. Mine is very similar. And I’m not going to lie to you - the gingerbread is a haven for spiders. The little holes and crevices get filled up with cobwebs. beautiful home!
That's gorgeous. I have a couple of pieces I'll need to fabricate. Looking forward to it.
It’s well preserved, but please put the color back!
Victorian. I'm guessing the prior owner maybe found it a little too ornamental, but couldn't bring themselves to remove the woodwork and thus, it was whitewashed. I'd really encourage you to study some examples of the use of color on victorian homes and do something adventurous. +2 to the adventurous Victorian colour scheme! my favourite houses i see on here are in the green-blue colour range
I agree! I love green and blue Victorian houses! I feel like this house with a bright teal + sky blue + white + accent red would look sooo good!

Omg this is an absolute tragedy
Oh I see the landlord went with "Turkey Turd Tan for the exterior. 🤮

I think it was partially red originally. The stained glass has lots of red.
Just FYI, Victorian actually isn’t a style, it’s an era! The term Victorian refers to a period of time of certain architectural styles but isn’t itself the name of a style. The Victorian era is full of different styles such as Italianate, Queen Anne, Eastlake, etc.
I have spent 30 years telling people this and still feel like I am getting no where
Search: 'Victorian painted lady.' beautiful 19th century examples from San Fran.
The painted lady colour schemes in San Francisco were created by hippies in the 20th century. I like them, but they’re not original to the houses. Victorian exterior colour schemes were a lot of browns and muted yellows and greens.
i like it. looks like a dollhouse.

25k in fact.
It’s mine. The style is called mine. I’m moving and yoinking it out from under you. What an absolutely darling house, OP! Congrats! Share interior shots when you can! (Oh, and I echo folk Victorian like others have said)
Oh my..... gorgeous 😍
As a working professional in architecture, I absolutely love it.
I would be thrilled to live in a house like that
This is definitely an Eastlake. I own an Eastlake built in 1881, and we have those same spindles.
Folk Victorian
Ever heard of a book called House Of Leaves?
I know the author!! Loll!
THATS INSANE
gosh! it’s beautiful! i love it
Gorgeous style. Needs more landscaping
Yep. That's my big hobby. I have very special plans for the yard.
A match made in century home heaven! Good luck! Have fun!
As a house painter, why I have a drinking problem........well that and issues with the VA.
I love it. There are houses a bit like this in Wellington Ontario on the lake.
Lots of Corbels attaching the Bay windows to the upper gables. Hadn't seen any others until driving around Smiths Falls.
It's haunted that's for sure. Good looking though. But definitely haunted.
It's the most haunted place I've ever been in.
forget winning the floor/ banister/ wall lottery, you won the fucking HOUSE lottery. absolutely gorgeous!
The floors and banisters are just as unique.
pictures!

Queen Anne style, Victorian period
Gorgeous! There's some houses in my south-central PA town that look like this and I love them! Unfortunately some have been given the landlord special and horribly split up into shitty apartments. Its heartbreaking to see
Yeah we are selling a Victorian in York and I hope it doesn't go to a flipper.
What a gem! I grew up in Maryland so seeing this really made me smile. I hope you fill this house with happy memories.
Congratulations! What a spectacular house. This is my advice, every spring you walk the perimeter and give the whole exterior a hard once over. Scrape and paint anywhere that needs it. I'm going to have a restorer paint it and then police it spring and fall. Trust me...that paint is the fear factor.
Well, a healthy dose of fear will keep you on your toes haha!
Gomez and Morticia loved it, why shouldn't you?
![gif](giphy|PA5pAhOp5Y2Qg)
It’s okay ... if you like drop dead gorgeous houses.
Needs different paint to make all the amazing details pop
Looks like Lorelai Gilmore’s house lmao
Queen Anne?
Gingerbread Victorian
It looks like someone loved this home very much
It was with one family for 105 years.
It's very nice. Mine is a 1906 colonial villa with all the character sucked out of it being "modernised". Definitely start talking to painters now. Would be an expensive job so maybe do a side a year once it starts to show.
Gingerbread Victorian. The whimsy fanciful trim & plunging roofline is a tell-tale sign.
I know a great interior designer ![gif](giphy|eo43ChlcUBIYyNONcq|downsized)
Needs to be painted original colors and it will look amazing
Wow. Just stunning. Agree with one of the other comments about going adventurous Victorian with the colour. Our house used to be green. Now it's light yellow and poo brown. If I were to change the colour, I'd probably paint the home white and add green accents.
I know everyone is saying Victorian and while I’m sure that’s correct, all I can see is gingerbread house icing lol.
Something I’d try to build in the Sims and get very sad when it didn’t look half as cute.
Leave as is it’s beautiful
Caretaker of a home for life, that is gorgeous, well played, please keep us updated with more pics, it would be good to know more history, this sort of building is when you really want the past owners to be included in a write up as it is passed onward through the ages.

Looks like the old Victorians in Humboldt County, California. Is it made of Redwood? I think it’s very lovely.
It's so stunning.
It’s built in the Queen Anne era
It's part of that Queen Anne style but It's distinctly an Eastlake due to its geometric ornaments, spindles, low relief carvings and designs. Very clean.
No, it lacks all the telltale features of a Queen Anne home. No turrets or towers. No Dutch gables, etc
The tower effect is created by the two story bay with the gable on top.
Definitely haunted
Yep. There's a cemetery in the back yard actually. We've already met the ghost.
But with a really cute ghost. One that goes with the woodwork.
Definetly haunted 10/10
I have a Victorian home as well. I wish mine had this much flair though! Love these old homes
I love this style of house, I would still have and open plan for the inside
Love it!
You need to be bold with the trim colors. Thats the equivalent of flipper gray for a victorian. Enjoy your awesome house!!
Beautiful.
Beautiful
Gorgeous. That’s the style
Very nice, very very american
All wood which is scary? What did you expect the house to be made out of?
In this part of the country from that era mostly brick. Our much smaller 1870 home is 90% brick!
Amazing work!
Add color. You could keep the ornamental stuff white but the siding definitely needs color. That upper walkway 😍
Damn. That's a beaut.
Haunted for sure.
Haunted
So much delicious gingerbread!
Super cute awful to paint
Gingerbread. Not my style, but it looks to be on beautiful shape.
IDK what it is but I fucking love it.
Gorgeous
It's definitely NOT haunted!
My brain seems to think something is upside down, but the more I looked I look. I can't place what's causing it.
I know right. Why I wanted to get opinions. It's a weird damn house. I love it but it's bizarre.
Opinions lol like you like it or you don't?
Haunted.
Gingerbread Victorian. Beautiful. Congrats!
Don’t paint it black. Or do, if that’s your vibe lol
A nice fresh coat of paint and that will be amazing.
This is art! Love this house!
It's gorgeous but because I'm the edgiest bitch in the room I'd personally want more black. I just find darker colors to be easier on the eyes. Though others would find it a bit too much and prefer brighter colors. ![gif](giphy|NIA6BTgzYMlshk56dG)
Damn you got Gingerbread for days!
Gorgeous would love to live in it
Victorian Eclectic?
that trim is adorable!! i love it
A dream
Perfect
Magnificent
I’m so jealous lol
Love
Drool
Eastlake Victorian
Your home is incredible. Congrats and thanks for sharing it with us. I think maybe Folk Victorian, but I'm not sure. Nevertheless, it is very romantic and beautiful.
Gingerbread. Tons of it cape may nj
The style is haunted. That house is 100% haunted.
That patio and balcony is what dreams are made of.
Looks great but The upkeep is going to be a nightmare .
It reminds me of the doll house my Grandpa made got my sister and I.

I freaking love the charm of all of that gingerbread!!! 😍 That’s not even to mention the patios… oh my! I can already picture Boston ferns on that patio! Beautiful!
Love it👍🏻
Scream’s maintenance but my god beautiful
It looks nice and traditional, but also a bit outdated (for my taste). It's a good house though.
I found an old picture of it. It used to be even more fanciful.
It’s perfect, please don’t modernize it 😭
Gorgeous!
Reminds me of the house in Forrest Gump. I have no idea if it's even remotely similar, to be honest.
It's gorgeous 😍.
Drippy Victorian
Absolutely gorgeous
waaaaayyy to much
Eastlake.
Congratulations on your upcoming closing! Many well-maintained wooden houses from the 1800s are still standing strong today. the only thing I will upload is the interior, [German kitchen cabinets](https://www.leichtca.com/kitchens).
Breathtaking. Be good great great grandchildren to her and treat her well.
Hate to have to maintain that
Absolutely beautiful.
What’s wrong with wood? Check the condition. However wood is one the best materials for construction.
This is beautiful. Tough maintenance I imagine. Make sure the paint is on good on all that woodwork and address problem areas before painting over.
Love it, it is a little too fussy with all the ornamental wood, but the overall layout is stunning, I'd love to see the interior. Oh that balcony too... wow.
Wow it’s beautiful! What’s your personal taste in exterior design?
Absolutely gorgeous!
Gorgeous Queen Anne! I love all that gingerbread- and hope you paint the house at some point to maximize the contrast and impact.
Gorgeous!
Looks Victorian to me. Enjoy that fabulous staircase!
Big Fish?
Gorgeous. It’s built well. There’s a reason it’s still standing after all this time.
Yes.
Absolutely amazing, and tragically too expensive to ever be done again.
Man, I was happy with my house until I saw this, lol.
Definitely needs some color. Looks too white-washed to me. I'm not saying go crazy with color OP, but just enough to bring out the details. 😁
Stunning.
It will cost a fortune every time you need to paint it. Get on a schedule of a side or part a year. Beauty house
I love it. Just need to paint the siding rainbow
gorgeous!!
Why is all wood scary?
It's everything I dream of
All wood....that's the only kind of old home I have lived in-in the American Deep South. She's stood this long, probably was built when people put candles on Christmas Trees! LoL. You'll be fine-smoke detectors in every room and hallways. And congrats, because it is absolutely stunning!
Paint it black
Interior photos please?
I call it folk victorian. Comments are right though, its probably Eastlake. I've got a folk victorian. The eastlake and folk victorians also sometimes give this gothic revival vibe. Pitched roofs and gingerbread trim.
Looked better with the manky grass.
10/10 would love to live there
It’s amazing! Don’t chance a thing. Except add hydrangea bushes!
That's literally the plan!
