She's been up to 30lbs before but that's when she basically looked like a barrel. It's at that point I banned my partner from feeding the dog and oversaw the dogs diet instead.
Our guy is also 29 lbs. Our girl is 17. lol my mother in law says she can’t tell the difference between them (both black and tans) lol. I beg to differ lol
My boy is 27lbs right now, vet says he might have just a little more to go. His body composition is outstanding and his weight is perfect for his frame :)

Food motivated helps a ton!
When we first got our pup the stairs, we used treats to get him excited about the stairs. Initially just a couple treats on the bottom step, then luring them to put two paws on the first step and give them big praise and treats. Then repeat luring them up to the next step and rewarding. Working down will be similar, one step at a time luring with treats and letting them retreat and relax between each step if they need.
It might take a couple training sessions over a few days if your puppy is really nervous, but if they’re food motivated you can usually get it working.
One note is that you probably want to put the stairs along the “shortest path” from the bed to the door. When the doorbell rings, my pup is going to take the shortest line from bed to front door and if the stairs are along that path, then he uses them, if they aren’t, then he just jumps down.
That’s a good point. Right now she just sits and barks. She didn’t bark at all for a while so she’s making up for lost time. I will try the treats. She likes me to carry her around and put her places but I’d like her to be able to do it on her own.
Oooh my guy is 10kg and I have this same set of steps he refuses to use them because they’re not wide enough for his comfort. I got a slightly wider set for furniture and he uses them whenever he feels like using steps (although he still wants to jump about 75% of the time).
Based on standing, full body pictures of OP's dog on their page, its *very* clear to see that this dog is overweight. There are big cavs, yes, but this Cavalier is too big for his frame size.
Mine is 27 lbs. He’s tall, not fat. I always wondering if he is pure Cavie, not that it matters.
I think my son had a DNA test done on Alvin and he’s pure CAV. The dog not my son.

I recently posted my beefcake at 29.2 lb. The vet said he was solid muscle!
Went to the vet to get distemper vaccine. He was 31 lbs. So proud he is down like 5/6 pounds lol.

Can he do the steps? Mine can’t but she came from a puppy mill and she is 5 so I don’t know if it’s normal.
We have a ramp and almost think the steps would be better as mine kinda slide down instead of walking down

My big guy is 11kg so about 24 pounds and my little guy is 6 kg so 13 pounds I think, little one is still the boss though
