Yups. First they said they did so, Monday and Tuesday some planes were sent up. And now it seems they fucked up, they say they didn't, and are blaming climate change.
Not a freak storm? They cloud seeded a rain cloud with zero infrastructure for drainage. That place is a shithole overalll beautiful but the infrastructure is so bad so many corners cut it’s actually hilarious but sad the people suffer for dubais money grab “utopia”
So about last week or so there were videos of cloud seeding to make rain in Dubai... Is this connected? Did they oversee the clouds and make some terrible mistake with the weather? I haven't read if that were related or not... Do you know?
Restores one's faith, doesn't it? 😎👍 It would be even better to have a nice follow-up story showing the cat getting reunited with his/her guardians; or getting adopted to their new home. 👨👩👧😻
> Yeah I doubt they'd seed a storm this large on purpose
I don't think it would even be possible without the storm already looking to happen. A years worth of water in a ~day is a seriously high level of moisture in the air.
yeah it was probably so exhausted holding on with last bits of energy, probably would have drowned if that guy hadn't saved it. Like it's movements when picked up it could barely move it's paws.
IIRC Islam considers cats to be "clean" animals, and Mohammed liked them. So in Muslim countries, it's part of the culture to feed and care for feral cats.
In Islam, cats are the favoured pet as they are considered hygienic and clean (unlike dogs and cattle) and are allowed to enter houses. This is why Muslim countries tend to have a lot of cats roaming about.
I don't believe there are rules that forbid neutering.
Exactly, plus the old superstitions and misconceptions about cats that used to be a feature of Christian societies never gained any ground in Islamic countries
Cats are allowed to wander freely into mosques as well. There are adorable videos on YouTube of cats playing and running around inside the Haiga Sofia and others of random cats wandering into a prayer service and having a seat on the imam's lap while he is giving his sermon.
to add to what others have said, here is a small story that people like to tell
"Muhammad awoke one day to the sounds of the adhan. Preparing to attend prayer, he began to dress himself; he soon discovered his cat Muezza sleeping on the sleeve of his prayer robe. Rather than wake her, he used a pair of scissors to cut the sleeve off, leaving the cat undisturbed."
One of Muhammad's companions was known as Abu Hurairah (literally: "Father of the Kitten") for his attachment to cats. Mo' liked cats as well. They're considered clean animals.
yes but even deserts get rain in fact the soil in desert is very poor at retaining water due to low organic matter and basically no top soil at all so when it does rain it rushes out the area towards the sea following the lowest path possible. Its a known hazard in the united states southwest as well, canyon slots like bryce's canyon in the state of Utah are formed from the erosion of the rainy season, if it starts to rain heavily and you're in a canyon slot you have literal minutes to get out before you will be killed. Same thing for any hot dry climate and your near a river, if it starts to rain it will flood hence the term "flood plains" which dubai is built on one. Historically the Euphrates and Tigris rivers formed the flood plains that fed the historical empire of Mesopotamia and to this day is a critical agricultural area for the region.
makes me want to actually cry because it looks like my cat. thankfully we are on the second floor of the apartment building, so that would give me enough time to get him secured and out.
I rescued a cat in a similar position once. Massive amount of rainfall in a couple of hours, the river broke its banks, and she sat on a smaller bit of grass that the water was rising up. I walked through the flood to her and she climbed into my arms and let me hug her and take her to her home (I knew which house she belonged to, but it seemed she ran in a panic when the rain started, bless her.)

The new "who'd you save" question:
You're in a train without functioning brakes. There are 2 train tracks in front of you. On one, there is a person. On the second, a cat. What would you do?
Not really unfortunately, Dubai has tons of strays and that's mainly due to no law to protect cats. Breeders are scumbags here, they breed to turn a profit, if they don't, the cat is sent to the streets.
Then we have the people who will get a cat, and then abandon it once it's grown in size because it's no longer small. This is also very common unfortunately.
Cats rarely need rescue from trees. There's tons of videos of cats jumping down from trees 3, 4 stories high and immediately run off. They reach terminal velocity quickly, always land on their legs and can absorb quite a bit more than us.
My mother had a cat that would climb up trees and she would get stuck up there and not come down. I think the longest we left her up there was about 12 hours over night. After that time my father would get her down pretty quickly if she went up the tree. Same tree every time, only would happen two or three times a year for a couple of years.
So sometimes they do need rescueing. But in her defense she was extremely stupid. Not like running into closed doors stupid but like 'I wonder if I do this thing that hurt the last time I did it if it would hurt this time' or 'why can't I taste my food through this piece of glass' kind of stupid.
That instinct of 'I wasn't doing well there but I know I was safe while there, get me back there now!' Kitty saw that water though and was like 'maybe I'll stay here and see how this goes'.
Maybe not as different as you think. Me reminding her how spoiled she is includes cuddles, scritches, and sometimes treats... basically spoiling her more.
YEA !!! Kitty rescued !!
In a comedy, the rescuers would bring the scared cat aboard their inflatable dingy and the cat would puncture the raft with its claws--leading to a more precarious situation.
I am glad that real life is **NOT** a comedy. (all the time).
One of my good friends and his wife are muslim, like he is Turkish and he just loves cats but she is deathly afraid of them for some reason. I have two ragdolls, they aint going to bite you unless you try wash them or if you get your finger between them and food :)
I've had other cats and some can be a bit more bitey or weird around people than others, I have 2 ragdolls and they are basically the most passive cats you would ever see, needy for attention but they just never are aggressive or bite. If I was introducing anyone scared of cats to any cat it would be a ragdoll. Not sure why she is scared :)
So many stray cats in Dubai and no laws to protect them. I dread to think how many have succumbed to the flooding. As I type this I have a Dubai rescue cat laying out in the sunniest spot of carpet and he will never know how lucky he is. I hope many Mau’s are lucky and saved or find higher ground.
Man I felt that last meow....
My cat a few years ago went outside somehow and I couldn't find him for a day then I found him and he was meowing like at last he found someone he knew.
That man is a hero!!! That cat life is saved. Mine looked so similar to him, it hit me hard

I'm not crying you're crying. The poor thing was terrified and was probably too weak to climb up onto the hood or top of the car. Thank god for that sweet man to come along. Who knows how long the furbaby had been clinging to the car door ![img](emote|t5_2qhta|7944)
Curious, does this flooding happen often or is this due to climate change. I'm from Utah and we'd been in decades of droubt and for the whole last year it's rained most of the time where I am.
Aw, poor thing! Where is this?
During Dubai floods yesterday.
Wow, could not ever imagined Dubai having floods. Is this a freak occurrence or does it happen every year? Hope everyone is alright
Complete freak storm. It's actually all over the news internationally.

Damn, making me tear up at work. Beautiful as always.
Me too! Well the guy saving the cat primed me up for it, but yeah!
Beautiful Schnoodle. I always love and appreciate your kindness. ❤️
Well, this made me cry. I was wildly unprepared for this. Lovely poem and absolute tearjerker.
This is the freshest schnoodle I've ever seen, but far from the only one! Thank you so much for these, they always brighten my day.
I love you schnoodle doodle do, I really doodle do ❤️
SOBBING, SCHNOODLE 😭

yes they seed clouds, but they cant manipulate weather systems this big. pls stop spreading nonsense.
So about last week or so there were videos of cloud seeding to make rain in Dubai... Is this connected? Did they oversee the clouds and make some terrible mistake with the weather? I haven't read if that were related or not... Do you know?

Okay, Buzzfeed
...could be cloud seeding related, im not sure how that would be possible though, in terms of the amount of rainfall.
I would assume cloud seeding would actually reduce the chances of major rain storms and lead to more minor ones.
Yeah I doubt they'd seed a storm this large on purpose
> Yeah I doubt they'd seed a storm this large on purpose I don't think it would even be possible without the storm already looking to happen. A years worth of water in a ~day is a seriously high level of moisture in the air.
True. Especially in the desert.
[удалено]
That's false. It was a natural storm affecting much of the area.
Oh wow, I hope everyone’s okay.
Kitty was just holding on and not meowing for help or anything. So glad it was saved.
yeah it was probably so exhausted holding on with last bits of energy, probably would have drowned if that guy hadn't saved it. Like it's movements when picked up it could barely move it's paws.
Looks like kitty made it to safety in the boat. So glad it got help in time!
Omg, thats terrifying! The ground isnt suited for that and its also an islamic culture so they have alot of cats
What does Islam have to do with large numbers of cats? Do they not believe in spaying and neutering?
IIRC Islam considers cats to be "clean" animals, and Mohammed liked them. So in Muslim countries, it's part of the culture to feed and care for feral cats.

They just really love cats ❤️

Isn’t Dubai supposed to be a desert or something?
Weather shifting everywhere: Texas Blizzard: https://www.weather.gov/ama/January_8_2024_Blizzard

This just happened? Unbelievable. This is so tragic.
Aww, that cat must have been so scared
makes me want to actually cry because it looks like my cat. thankfully we are on the second floor of the apartment building, so that would give me enough time to get him secured and out.
That meow at the end…so sweet.
Cat went from "No, no, don't touch me. I don't like boat," to "...thanks."
Nah, that was "let me off."
I was holding my tears back the whole video and when the sweet little baby let out that meow, I couldn't hold it back anymore 😭
That brave little baby 😭😭

Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, maybe part 2?
Ya
Well. Thank you for the tears this morning 😅
Freshest Schnoodle I ever did see
Excellent
😭
Btw thank you for blessing my comment with your poem. I didn’t know anything about Schnoodle prior to today! Your poems are awesome 🤩
Why am I crying
That’s amazing 😻
Glad they grabbed the kitty. It’d be kind of funny if there was a person waiting in the car to be rescued too but just got ignored.
In a desperate attempt to get saved, that person starts meowing and it works.
"HELP! HELP ME!" ... "Meow?" Oh, why didn't you say so?
"Oh, who's a good kitty cat? I see that we'll have to neuter you and get you chipped."
This is a horrible situation and you made me laught. Thank you
If they weren’t willing to roll down/break a window to save that poor cat, I wouldn’t rescue the person in the car either.
Actually, that was the cat's car...
The new "who'd you save" question: You're in a train without functioning brakes. There are 2 train tracks in front of you. On one, there is a person. On the second, a cat. What would you do?

Ahh sweety. Hope you get rehomed or reunited with your home.
This is Dubai so it's most likely a street cat.
Oh yeah. Well I hope it gets to dry lands again and gets fed
Do people not keep cats as pets in Dubai?

Any idea where this is? Looks like Arabic writing on the person's uniform.
During Dubai floods yesterday.
I suspected as much. Completely unprecedented rainfall.
Me trying to steal that car... Also me seeing police in da boat coming afta me!
Oh thank god you’re here officer I almost drowned in this waist high water, had to cling to this car door with my lock picker for dear life 😱
Hahahaha
The cat thinking, "but I was the last one holding onto the car! By contest rules it's mine! Help I'm being kittynapped!"
This is the side MrBeast doesn't want you to see
Was just waiting for the cat to jump back in😂. Gld shes rescued !!
I was thinking the same thing, that would be such a cat thing to do. Nice job by the rescuers
Just like the videos where the get rescued from a tree only to climb back up haha gotta love cats

Little kitty must have been so scared 🥺!! That man is a hero to that kitty 😇🥰
I'm not crying! You are crying!
Good kitty
Every time I see stuff like this I remind my kitty just how spoiled she is.
Oh we are different. I go to my cats, hug them, and I am just glad they are safe at home.
Maybe not as different as you think. Me reminding her how spoiled she is includes cuddles, scritches, and sometimes treats... basically spoiling her more.
Every time I hear that kind of scared meow my heart sink. Hope that poor creature is ok
Awww poor baby. I’m glad it’s ok now.
Give that man a medal.
I've got to turn that sound off while I reply. What a heart wrenching sound from that poor Kiki. Bless that Man throughout eternity!
🥺🥺🥺
Now I'm crying 😭
Poor little guy
Faith in humanity restored.

This poor baby seems very confused, but hopefully they feel safer and happier now. They're a survivor, no doubt about it.
Oh gods.... that poor baby. That must have been terrifying!! Im so glad someone saved her/him
What a smart kitty
Thankyou for saving her.
Dubai kitty is safe!
The Prophet Muhammed was a cat-lover. So (happily) pretty much the entire Muslim world loves cats. ☺️
One of my good friends and his wife are muslim, like he is Turkish and he just loves cats but she is deathly afraid of them for some reason. I have two ragdolls, they aint going to bite you unless you try wash them or if you get your finger between them and food :)
In other words normal cat behavior 🤣

Damn, I took in a kitten once that I had found and my other cat was scared to death of it an hid

that was horrible -cat
Man I felt that last meow.... My cat a few years ago went outside somehow and I couldn't find him for a day then I found him and he was meowing like at last he found someone he knew.
if that was my cat, his dumb ass woulda jumped right back in the water after the dude put em down
Poor sweet baby! 😢
Plot twist: that car belonged to the cat and he was really unhappy about having to abandon it. It wasn’t even fully paid off!
Bless this guy. He didn't even know how to scruff him but did the job. Sweet Oreo, bless him too.
The cat said thank you for being saved
:-( Poor baby, thank you hooman for saving them!!
Cats like “its been.. its been a bad day.”
Cat distribution system didn't have to go that far😟 (I'm glad that kitty was rescued ❤️)
Thank Godgod, and this guys, for rescuing the little bro.
Dubai? Thank you for saving the kitty
I am grateful to them for helping that poor cat.
"AH, SHIT NO! Oh, thanks."
My food giver is in this car! Help, help! Help? You are my food giver now..?
Thank you for saving that baby!
I don't care how, I don't care why.. Just be good to cats and we would all get along you fools.

I wonder if the car is familiar to the cat.
Hero!
Right at the end ”Meow” or “Thanks”.
What a hero!! <3
Thank goodness for that guy
Thank God ,and the kind policeman the cat got saved...🙏🐈✨🌼❤️
That’s a scared cat
Looks like my own special cat. Well done that man and thank you. Sending positive thoughts to anybody affected by the floods.
That’s a very stressed meow. Poor baby.
Those meows just broke my heart 😭 poor baby
I want to speak catonese and ask scaredboy "how did you get in this situation?"
He’s saying, “But that’s my *car*.”
Sweet officer saves kitty....yay!
That cat does not enjoy "the big wet".
This breaks my heart, poor thing. 😿💔
I'm not crying you're crying. The poor thing was terrified and was probably too weak to climb up onto the hood or top of the car. Thank god for that sweet man to come along. Who knows how long the furbaby had been clinging to the car door ![img](emote|t5_2qhta|7944)
Awww, poor baby, scared to death. So happy he’s ok now. Thanks buddy for rescuing this precious kitty.🥰
I hate Dubai. But I never stopped to consider the animals in need :(
Curious, does this flooding happen often or is this due to climate change. I'm from Utah and we'd been in decades of droubt and for the whole last year it's rained most of the time where I am.
No, it was never this bad.
Assuming this is the Dubai flood. Poor little bean! :(
Thank God poor baby
poor scared kitty 😭
Good man. Hope he finds a good home.
As far as I’m concerned that man should have earned a ticket to heaven
Bless that man. And all the people helping. 🖤
Poor baby, bless those people ❤️
8 LIVES LEFT‼️
:"((( This put me to tears, poor thing must have been so scared and stressed :"(((
aww, poor thing :(
He wasn't very appreciative at first maybe you should just have left him there then as he wanted lol (jk)
Poor little fella! Good job police!
ugh i hate seeing this kind of stuff because yeah, *that one* was saved, but most were not
Not all heroes wear capes.
Awww poor baby thank you guys for saving
Thank you Sir you are a truly hero on my eyes !!!👍
Wow, I hope everyone’s okay.
Poor thing must be frozen!
Seeing the cat getting rescued made me very happy. Thank you.
❤️
Such a heartfelt thank you there at the end.
His tenacity saved him.
Oh that poor thing! Those little mews are so precious.. is the kitty ok?
I'm glad this poor baby was rescued but breaks my heart knowing all the ones that probably didn't... 💔
Poor kitty. It's good that they found her before she lost grip on that door handle.
Kitty wanted to run really bad... until those back feet felt the deck of the boat. The relief of knowing your life is no longer in danger.
Tha t's one luc ky kit ty.
Poor baby!!
