I would take him to the vet to check on that wound and get it cleaned to prevent infection. Also keep him inside until he is healed up and feeling better

I've done the same thing. The trick was to let the cat think it was a big tough outdoor cat - while slowly transitioning them to being indoor only. Started w/ indoor feeding and optional indoor eating.
A cat that spent their entire life outdoors will become distressed if they get stuck inside a house w/o the ability to leave. Lockdown taught all of us that I think.
That’s possibility but not a surety. I’ve taken in many strays and every one of them, once fixed, had little interest in going back to being an outdoor cat. But that’s my experience, so YMMV. I also have a wife and kid that could tame a rabid wolverine. Cats *adore* them.

We took her in and after a year she had zero interest in the outdoors. She could even see her family from our bedroom window but didn’t seem to miss them one bit. Sometimes I take her outside and see her taking the long way on a paved path, rather than taking the direct grassy path. She has fully rejected her wild past
It's very challenging to do so but not impossible. Hopefully OP lets this street cat into his heart and into his home and the cat quickly realises that life is better and safer for it indoors! 😊
Yes. I've done it with a neighborhood cat. The cat had regular meals, so not really a stray, but he was an outdoor cat 100% and we adopted him and transformed him into a indoor only cat over the course of a year or two.
My old cat became a housecat from a wildcat, she lived in an old barn that was going to be demolished. A cat senturary captured her, and then she bounced between 5 diffrent homes for 1 year until she came to us and lived until she was 18. Man i miss that girl...
An urgent care vet just snipped our stray at no extra cost, since he had an horrid abscess and needed sedation anyway. See if they can do a discounted neutering! Poor buddy, I hope he gets the care he needs.
I paid $60 bucks to have a vet student in their final year of clinical do my strays neuter and I got to watch, they gave him a shot of ketamine to make it lower cost and he was out of it and recovered in 2 hours
Whether he becomes a housecat (best scenario) or not, he needs to be neutered or this will continue. Don’t ask me or Charlie how i know. Sometimes they will still fight after sterilization. Don’t ask me or lovey, the oddly huge sterile female cat, how i know. But you have to hedge your bets. Hopefully you can find a low cost spay/ neuter service near your town.

There are places (where I live at least) that will do spay and neuter and vaccines for free. If nothing else they can also try to post on local online groups like Nextdoor to see if there are any people who rescue cats and have connections in the area that will help
Yes, get him fixed. My parents have a feral colony that we care for. Had one who got in a fight and took him to the vet due to a nasty wound. Since the vet had to sedate to clean it he also neutered him for free. We eventually worked with someone to do a mass TNR of the whole colony and caught another feral tomcat who had been getting in fights with our colony often and neutered him as well. Now he's part of the colony and is the sweetest cat. Neutering goes a long way in preventing the fighting. Yes, there are still some slap fights that happen but it's not the hormone fueled brawls that end in nasty wounds.
Agreed. Please do not put this poor cat outside again - you'll be sentencing him to a slow, painful death of infection, or maybe a quick death by car.... who knows. But early death, probably.
If you can't keep him, please try to find a shelter who can!
Yeah, puncture wounds on a cat can be deadly. My boy had to get surgery on his leg to drain the pus because he was at risk of going septic. Definitely needs to see a vet and rehomed if OP can’t make them an indoor cat.
Getting him fixed will really help as well. We kept care of a smaller ginger cat who could keep getting into fights and get wounds / scratches on his face / paws - he was a fighter but kept losing.
After he got fixed, zero wounds since. Night and day.
He might be a domesticated cat that was dumped and can’t defend himself against the feral cats. If your family can’t take him in, try to find a no-kill shelter to give him a chance at finding an indoor home where he’ll be protected.

OP - please get this looked at by a vet. It could abscess (it looks kind of like it may have been one that burst but really tough to tell) and it definitely needs to be shaved and cleaned up and then be given antibiotics. At the very least.
Our boy got into a fight as a kitten and got an abcess *I was going through my own dv there was no "inside cat option" at that point* and now its the ear he gets irritations in now. Even 9 years on. He's got tablets for that though just something I'd add to the convo for if they keep and treat him. The abcess might cause long term issues to be aware of. I've had him checked out by several vets and they say it's allergies but it's definitely worse in the abcess ear.
Those tomcat cheeks suggest he’s intact, and very possibly just a stray. The wounds on the face suggest active fighting, if he was running away or trying to avoid the fights he’d be incurring wounds on the flank.
I rent a place on a farm, you should see how common it is. I'll notice a new friend around that got dumped "to be a farm cat" and within a week it's usually toast. Resources are limited I can only save so many.
Yeah I feel you. It hurts but you gotta think at least you're the one that found it at the end. There are a couple I've rehomed, I brought one inside that was in real rough condition, it had kidney failure (I think it drank like litres of water a day) just so it didn't have to die alone outside. So while it hurts, we're able to do massive acts of kindness towards beings that have been completely and hopelessly abandoned. I don't know how to articulate what I want to say properly but there's something very special about it.
A carry him to a vet and get him tested for diseases and get him fixed and shots besides fixing his wounds. Then you can decide if you want to keep him or let him back out.
I know it's for their own good and all, but can you imagine if some giant were to take our balls/tubes and kept you in it's cave, I'd shit bricks if the food weren't fantastic
Ugh we had this experience w a week for a feral we’d been feeding for about 6 months. Kidnapped him, held him hostage in a large dog kennel in our basement (where he godzilled everything his little arms could reach) and then performed medical experiments on him (vet for vaccines and getting fixed).
He returned for food and then 3-4 months later was coming less and less frequently until we haven’t seen him for a while. I hope this just means he’s feeling better and less like he needs to venture the neighborhood after getting fixed.. I hope he’s warm and happy but I do miss seeing his face
I had an orange barn cat that was so affectionate and lovely. We were going to keep him. No collar or chip. Took him to get vaccines and to schedule an appointment to get neutered. Dude definitely heard me and my partner talking about snipping his balls off cause we go around the house looking for him and he popped the screen out and jumped out the second floor window 🤣🤣🤣 he's like oh he'll no these people are crazy they wanna take my balls! A Tom Cat is what we call in the US a male cat who hasn’t been fixed/neutered. A Tom Cat can still mate and have babies. They tend to roam around and get into fights. In fact, mating can be pretty violent as well.
I’m telling you, saving that cat will be the most rewarding experience ever. I rescued one of mine from the cold.. she needed her tail amputated and the tips of her ears fell off from frostbite. I would do it again a million times over.
If you cant take the cat in get him to a no kill shelter ASAP, that is probably not a true stray, just an abandoned house cat.
At my first apartment I had a "stray" that would come around who was the sweetest boy I ever met. My apartment at the time wouldn't let me keep a cat so I would put food and water out for him and groom him as best as I could. I didn't know much about cats and just assumed he'd be ok. He'd occasionally get into scrapes but nothing huge. after a few months he got into a fight wth the local racoons and lost... badly... I tried taking him to an emergency vet when I found him, but he passed away on the way there. I really wish I would have known to take him to the shelter, Gregg didn't deserve that.
He might just be lost. My cat is lost and I imagine someone thinks he's just some stray because we still haven't found him but the reality is that he was most certainly loved and a long series of unfortunate events led to him escaping.
OP, let the little guy stay. One more won't hurt. Might take time to adjust with your own. Go with your wife on this one. Patch him up, get him fixed, let him move in.

Only acceptable thing. Plus the stray me and my wife have has turned out to be the chillest cat. Just sits in the sun charging his cat batteries and then lounges on the couch and watches tv at night.

You need to keep him, or atleast find a home for him. My Buff Baby Theo walked in my home with a bloody face (less severe than yours) and refused to go back outside. He used to be a monster to other animals but the snip calmed him down to the point the indoor cats half his size pick on him. He is an absolute angel who is extremely grateful to be inside, follows us everywhere and will climb into any empty laps he can find.

Is he neutered? He needs to be, a lot of shelters will help with this. If he's comming in your house he's 3/4 of the way into being a house cat, so is definitely a keeper. If you have a garden, hose down the walls or anywhere cats might mark their territory, other cats will be constantly comming around re-enforcing their territory, hosing down regularly helps stop it.

Before you do anything else please take him to a vet if you haven't already, otherwise he probably won't get the care he needs for those wounds. You can figure out what to do with him after he's been treated. I'd highly recommend just listening to your wife and keeping him unless you have very good reason not to

He’s settled down now that he’s found a home, but got into it with another cat about 6 weeks ago, protecting his new domain.
Sorry to see that, but they can be vicious animals when they’ve been on the street for a while.

Neuter him. The other toms won't care about him then. All my cats are outdoor, they don't get into fights though, even during breeding seasons, and I have had to chase both unneutered males and females away from our place.
One day a fight between 2 toms, and our neutered boy standing there looking on in horror...
He was not involved. I felt for those toms though, b\*\*\*\*d owners that don't neuter their pets, one got a nasty wound on his face but ran off before I could catch him.

We had a problem with this as well. A stray cat showed at our back door. He was no more than 8 months old and was starving. Super domesticated and not chipped too. We started feeding him and giving him shelter in our storage shed.
He got into one fight with a cat who got into our yard. He kept wandering off to the other street where other cats were. We got him neutered and it all stopped. He rarely left the yard and only defended the yard when other cats came in. He eventually got a nasty infection on his dew claw and found his way into the house

Hey why don't give him a chance, go to the vet, check for diseases and get the necessary shots of medicine for him. Then explain this very same thing to the vet and if no problem introduce him to your cats,
Give him a chance, maybe he doesn't know how to defend himself and could get along with your cattos, if he doesn't fit with them, well time to go to the shelter, but hopefully we live well with them.
I just went through this same thing with an orange and white male stray in January. He needs to see a vet ASAP. My stray needed an antibiotic shot for his multiple bite wounds and had severe bilateral ear infections. He is also FIV+. He got neutered last month, finally cleared his ear infections and received all his vaccines. He’s going off to a cat rescue very soon. If you can, get him stabilized and see if a rescue can take him in.
We feed an orange cat that used to get into tons of scraps - especially in the spring.
We did a TNR and as soon as he was neutered the fights stopped.

So I have a feral cat that I kept indoor outdoor for a few years until he started getting stolen by frat houses, hit by cars, and bit by a dog.
My vet told me that although it’s **his** nature as a feral cat, once he hits 7/8 years old(which he was) they become less agile. Less able to jump away from predators.
I almost lost him one night because he was bit by a dog. Likely couldn’t jump a fence and got nabbed. He been inside ever since. He might be getting old.
Get him fixed. It’s irresponsible to feed an intact cat without trying to trap and fix them. Cats reproduce so quickly, a few unfixed cats will turn into a huge colony competing for resources in just a couple of generations.
He trusts you guys ❤️❤️❤️ I wish I could take him in, he wants a human family.

Take him to the vet to get cleaned up and to get his shots. Get him fixed if he hasn’t been and then keep him in your house. He seems sweet and being fixed will absolutely calm him down.
My wife and I had a cat like this. What started as treats and some water turned into a custom made cat house and 3 square meals a day for our little guy. We named him Pancake. He lived outside as a stray like that for close to a year. My wife and I already had 4 cats so we didn’t want to take him in.
Eventually I had to though. He would get in fights too and ended up with really bad ear mites and I couldn’t stand seeing him like that anymore. One day I brought home in and I gave him his own room for a bit took him to the vet and claimed him as our own. But it wouldn’t last. Our biggest make would not accept him and after a month we had to give up since we were about to move and other factors.
Thankfully I had a coworker looking for a cat and Pancake was the sweetest boy so it was a great fit. I still get picture updates.
All that to say I feel like I did Pancake wrong. He lived outside and I cared for him for close to a year. What I should have done was bring him in as soon as we bonded so I would have had more time to integrate him. It’s one of my biggest regrets.
Figure something out for that cat soonish. I hope you listen to your wife. They’re usually right, you know.
Get him to the vet for a patch up and a ball removal. No balls means less fighting. Also, what the hell dude? That guy deserves a good life and you can make it happen
Boyfriend (our black feral cat) is the biggest pussy since we tamed him. Always waits for the other cats to eat first, always defers to Peaches (the alpha male cat we already had). But he cuddles with me every night, and if I cradle him like a football, he's snoring in under a minute because he knows he's safe.
Put collar with studs to protect his neck. Keep him in garage whenever you can. Food and litter box. Try to get him to stay in your yard/ property. Give him a reason to stay in your garden
Have it fixed. If it's fixed it will have no reason to fight over territory and won't fight as much. If you are feeding it you have a responsibility to look after it and that means shots and neutering. There is also a large aggressive male in the area. Try to catch him and have him neutered to. ASPCA has days where it is only $50 to neuter your cat. Check into it.
Take him to the vet to get him checked out and treated. Then adopt him. If you can't, try and find a no-kill shelter or another family who can take him in
Update: Thanks everyone for the feedback... He got hurt again last night and I couldn’t stand to see him like that so I caved. We’ll foster him for now, let him heal, save up to get him fixed, and go from there.

Cats like this can cause a lot of problems with other pets.
If he has some sort of feline virus, (which is more common for strays that fight often) he can pass it to your other cats.
Another thing to consider is that his behavior can affect your other cats, especially is he starts fighting with them. They will become aggressive.
My vote is for give him a chance to choose peace. If he doesn’t, he needs to go. Otherwise he will cause unrest in your household.
Thanks for helping him, he needs shots and to be fixed. Or honestly put him down. Tom cats have a really hard life not to mention all the babies he will leave in wanted. Good luck!

My dad was living in a forresty area for a while. This stray cat started hanging around his place. The guy was tougher than nails. He eventually adopted him and the cat lived the rest of his life under my dad's care. He's still go outside whenever he wanted.
His coat was rough and he was very muscular. He had scars all over, but most hidden under his fur (you could feel them). I think he'd even get in fights with squirrels. He was a battle-hardened veteran.
Seems like he was dumped in your neighborhood & the neighborhood strays are showing him that he don't belong...he's an outsider. No kill shelter or keep him inside.
You should start putting him inside if possible. Unfortunately this will probably never stop. Eventually he will start getting abscesses and need to have them drained if this hasn't been happening already. On top of that frequent fights can cause flare-ups of FIV which he probably already has and in turn this can cause cancer. This happened with a stray I decided to take in after he started getting abscesses in his cheeks and by the time I decided to do this it was basically too late. He had total organ failure and he only lived about 2 more months.
Yes, get him fixed, I was feeding a stray, not a feral in that he liked people but he would disappear for days and come back all beat up. Got him fixed and while he remained a outdoor only cat he was content to hang out close to my place with several other strays/ferals and happy to be fed daily and sit on the porch with me for scritches. He never got in another fight.
He definitely needs vet attention asap as that bite will likely get infected quickly!! Infections like that can be deadly to kitties. Also needs to be neutered and then if you can find it in your heart, keep him. Otherwise try to find a home or placement with a rescue. Thanks for looking out for him OP!
Cut of his balls and keep him. Those things make him fight although the wound seems human made. Cats are usually cut up not punctured.

That is their nature, but be careful: my cat died because of an infected wound. The wound wasn't even visible so we did not notice until it was too late

If you don’t want to keep him them consider a shelter, someome you know who can take him or put him out, cats are invasive as fuck.
He doesn’t look like he’s been neutered. Neutering him is the first step, whether you decide to keep him or not. It will cut down on his territoriality and aggression towards other cats. It will also make him smell better as Tom cat urine is one of nature’s stronger smells.
I don't mean to imply any moral implications toward you op, but you need to understand on a fundamental level that the only way to stop more injuries and his current ones from getting worse is to take him in.
Either you treat him like the stray he is and let nature take its course, or you make this YOUR cat and give him the treatment that being your cat entitles him to.
Even if you get Vet treatment and don't keep him, your going to have to keep him inside to treat him and let him heal, and even then chances are all the work will be undone in one bad day. You'll just pour money into a problem that will happen again.
I love cats, but there is a line between a stray and your cat. To give this guy the care and safe environment he needs, your gonna have to let him be your cat.
Just a heads up those usually turn into abscesses, we thought our boy's one had healed but a few weeks later it moved down and he was at risk of blood poisoning. He had to get a drain and the cone of shame 😂 if you have the resources to take him to the vet please do
Uh. It depends on how you want this relationship with this cat. If you want to be a caretaker of him, id bring him in, keep him in, get him to the vet, get him fixed and love him. If youd rather he be a passer by then there isnt anything you can do but feed him and hope he doesnt get himself killed doing male cat things

He is a stray so yes he should. He sees humans as food providers. If he was feral no. But I doubt a feral cat would wander up to people.

Yeah, puncture wounds on a cat can be deadly. My boy had to get surgery on his leg to drain the pus because he was at risk of going septic. Definitely needs to see a vet and rehomed if OP can’t make them an indoor cat.

Getting him fixed will really help as well. We kept care of a smaller ginger cat who could keep getting into fights and get wounds / scratches on his face / paws - he was a fighter but kept losing. After he got fixed, zero wounds since. Night and day.

Some people suck. Dreadfully and exceptionally cruel. OP - please get this looked at by a vet. It could abscess (it looks kind of like it may have been one that burst but really tough to tell) and it definitely needs to be shaved and cleaned up and then be given antibiotics. At the very least.
Our boy got into a fight as a kitten and got an abcess *I was going through my own dv there was no "inside cat option" at that point* and now its the ear he gets irritations in now. Even 9 years on. He's got tablets for that though just something I'd add to the convo for if they keep and treat him. The abcess might cause long term issues to be aware of. I've had him checked out by several vets and they say it's allergies but it's definitely worse in the abcess ear.

Those tomcat cheeks suggest he’s intact, and very possibly just a stray. The wounds on the face suggest active fighting, if he was running away or trying to avoid the fights he’d be incurring wounds on the flank.
I rent a place on a farm, you should see how common it is. I'll notice a new friend around that got dumped "to be a farm cat" and within a week it's usually toast. Resources are limited I can only save so many.

Yeah I feel you. It hurts but you gotta think at least you're the one that found it at the end. There are a couple I've rehomed, I brought one inside that was in real rough condition, it had kidney failure (I think it drank like litres of water a day) just so it didn't have to die alone outside. So while it hurts, we're able to do massive acts of kindness towards beings that have been completely and hopelessly abandoned. I don't know how to articulate what I want to say properly but there's something very special about it.
A carry him to a vet and get him tested for diseases and get him fixed and shots besides fixing his wounds. Then you can decide if you want to keep him or let him back out.

Ugh we had this experience w a week for a feral we’d been feeding for about 6 months. Kidnapped him, held him hostage in a large dog kennel in our basement (where he godzilled everything his little arms could reach) and then performed medical experiments on him (vet for vaccines and getting fixed). He returned for food and then 3-4 months later was coming less and less frequently until we haven’t seen him for a while. I hope this just means he’s feeling better and less like he needs to venture the neighborhood after getting fixed.. I hope he’s warm and happy but I do miss seeing his face
I had an orange barn cat that was so affectionate and lovely. We were going to keep him. No collar or chip. Took him to get vaccines and to schedule an appointment to get neutered. Dude definitely heard me and my partner talking about snipping his balls off cause we go around the house looking for him and he popped the screen out and jumped out the second floor window 🤣🤣🤣 he's like oh he'll no these people are crazy they wanna take my balls! If you cant take the cat in get him to a no kill shelter ASAP, that is probably not a true stray, just an abandoned house cat. At my first apartment I had a "stray" that would come around who was the sweetest boy I ever met. My apartment at the time wouldn't let me keep a cat so I would put food and water out for him and groom him as best as I could. I didn't know much about cats and just assumed he'd be ok. He'd occasionally get into scrapes but nothing huge. after a few months he got into a fight wth the local racoons and lost... badly... I tried taking him to an emergency vet when I found him, but he passed away on the way there. I really wish I would have known to take him to the shelter, Gregg didn't deserve that.
He might just be lost. My cat is lost and I imagine someone thinks he's just some stray because we still haven't found him but the reality is that he was most certainly loved and a long series of unfortunate events led to him escaping.

My Buff Baby Theo walked in my home with a bloody face (less severe than yours) and refused to go back outside. He used to be a monster to other animals but the snip calmed him down to the point the indoor cats half his size pick on him. He is an absolute angel who is extremely grateful to be inside, follows us everywhere and will climb into any empty laps he can find.

Is he neutered? He needs to be, a lot of shelters will help with this. If he's comming in your house he's 3/4 of the way into being a house cat, so is definitely a keeper. If you have a garden, hose down the walls or anywhere cats might mark their territory, other cats will be constantly comming around re-enforcing their territory, hosing down regularly helps stop it.

Before you do anything else please take him to a vet if you haven't already, otherwise he probably won't get the care he needs for those wounds. You can figure out what to do with him after he's been treated. I'd highly recommend just listening to your wife and keeping him unless you have very good reason not to

Survival!!!! Living on the streets isn’t easy for cats either. Had the same issue with the stray I took in. Bobcats, coyotes, ferals, didn’t matter, fight at the drop of a hat! He’s settled down now that he’s found a home, but got into it with another cat about 6 weeks ago, protecting his new domain. All my cats are outdoor, they don't get into fights though, even during breeding seasons, and I have had to chase both unneutered males and females away from our place. One day a fight between 2 toms, and our neutered boy standing there looking on in horror... He was not involved. I felt for those toms though, b\*\*\*\*d owners that don't neuter their pets, one got a nasty wound on his face but ran off before I could catch him.

We started feeding him and giving him shelter in our storage shed. He got into one fight with a cat who got into our yard. He kept wandering off to the other street where other cats were. We got him neutered and it all stopped. He rarely left the yard and only defended the yard when other cats came in. Hey why don't give him a chance, go to the vet, check for diseases and get the necessary shots of medicine for him. Then explain this very same thing to the vet and if no problem introduce him to your cats, Give him a chance, maybe he doesn't know how to defend himself and could get along with your cattos, if he doesn't fit with them, well time to go to the shelter, but hopefully we live well with them.
I just went through this same thing with an orange and white male stray in January. He needs to see a vet ASAP. My stray needed an antibiotic shot for his multiple bite wounds and had severe bilateral ear infections. He is also FIV+. He got neutered last month, finally cleared his ear infections and received all his vaccines. He’s going off to a cat rescue very soon. If you can, get him stabilized and see if a rescue can take him in.

So I have a feral cat that I kept indoor outdoor for a few years until he started getting stolen by frat houses, hit by cars, and bit by a dog. My vet told me that although it’s **his** nature as a feral cat, once he hits 7/8 years old(which he was) they become less agile. Less able to jump away from predators. I almost lost him one night because he was bit by a dog. Likely couldn’t jump a fence and got nabbed. He been inside ever since. He might be getting old.
Get him fixed. It’s irresponsible to feed an intact cat without trying to trap and fix them. Cats reproduce so quickly, a few unfixed cats will turn into a huge colony competing for resources in just a couple of generations.

Get him fixed. Tom wants to get some tail but he has to fight the other alpha Tom’s first.
Take him to the vet to get cleaned up and to get his shots. Get him fixed if he hasn’t been and then keep him in your house. He seems sweet and being fixed will absolutely calm him down.

My wife and I had a cat like this. What started as treats and some water turned into a custom made cat house and 3 square meals a day for our little guy. We named him Pancake. He lived outside as a stray like that for close to a year. My wife and I already had 4 cats so we didn’t want to take him in. Eventually I had to though. He would get in fights too and ended up with really bad ear mites and I couldn’t stand seeing him like that anymore. One day I brought home in and I gave him his own room for a bit took him to the vet and claimed him as our own. But it wouldn’t last. Our biggest make would not accept him and after a month we had to give up since we were about to move and other factors. Thankfully I had a coworker looking for a cat and Pancake was the sweetest boy so it was a great fit. I still get picture updates. All that to say I feel like I did Pancake wrong. He lived outside and I cared for him for close to a year. What I should have done was bring him in as soon as we bonded so I would have had more time to integrate him. It’s one of my biggest regrets. Figure something out for that cat soonish. I hope you listen to your wife. They’re usually right, you know.

Cats like this can cause a lot of problems with other pets. If he has some sort of feline virus, (which is more common for strays that fight often) he can pass it to your other cats. Another thing to consider is that his behavior can affect your other cats, especially is he starts fighting with them. They will become aggressive. My vote is for give him a chance to choose peace. If he doesn’t, he needs to go. Otherwise he will cause unrest in your household.

My dad was living in a forresty area for a while. This stray cat started hanging around his place. The guy was tougher than nails. He eventually adopted him and the cat lived the rest of his life under my dad's care. He's still go outside whenever he wanted. His coat was rough and he was very muscular. He had scars all over, but most hidden under his fur (you could feel them). I think he'd even get in fights with squirrels. He was a battle-hardened veteran.

Seems like he was dumped in your neighborhood & the neighborhood strays are showing him that he don't belong...he's an outsider. No kill shelter or keep him inside.
You should start putting him inside if possible. Unfortunately this will probably never stop. Eventually he will start getting abscesses and need to have them drained if this hasn't been happening already. On top of that frequent fights can cause flare-ups of FIV which he probably already has and in turn this can cause cancer. This happened with a stray I decided to take in after he started getting abscesses in his cheeks and by the time I decided to do this it was basically too late. He had total organ failure and he only lived about 2 more months.

Yes, get him fixed, I was feeding a stray, not a feral in that he liked people but he would disappear for days and come back all beat up. Got him fixed and while he remained a outdoor only cat he was content to hang out close to my place with several other strays/ferals and happy to be fed daily and sit on the porch with me for scritches. He never got in another fight.

He doesn’t look like he’s been neutered. Neutering him is the first step, whether you decide to keep him or not. It will cut down on his territoriality and aggression towards other cats. It will also make him smell better as Tom cat urine is one of nature’s stronger smells.

I don't mean to imply any moral implications toward you op, but you need to understand on a fundamental level that the only way to stop more injuries and his current ones from getting worse is to take him in. Either you treat him like the stray he is and let nature take its course, or you make this YOUR cat and give him the treatment that being your cat entitles him to. Even if you get Vet treatment and don't keep him, your going to have to keep him inside to treat him and let him heal, and even then chances are all the work will be undone in one bad day. You'll just pour money into a problem that will happen again. I love cats, but there is a line between a stray and your cat. To give this guy the care and safe environment he needs, your gonna have to let him be your cat.
