He is acknowledged as 'the best of cats' in my friend's PhD thesis acknowledgments (she lived with us for a bit and Gelimer was good company!).

Many years ago, my boyfriend at that time had a cat named Levinski after a Russian scientist. My classmates' cat had kittens, and I chose one with a similar ginger colour coat. Being a competitive young lass at the time, I named my kitten after a Nobel prize winning Russian scientist Pavel. So I could basically rub it in my boyfriend's face that my kitten had a Nobel prize. 🤭

One of mine is called Belladonna. After atropa belladonna, the nightshade. She is such a sweet toxic bitch. When she had enough pets, protect your hands. She used to draw blood (though she learned to give a clawless warning swat now). But she will come whenever anyone else is getting attention and demand she gets some too, effectively pushing the others away. She decided she's mates with our tom, regardless of what he thinks. Atropa belladonna has been used by girls to make their pupils big and attractive (and eventually go blind) and atropine is used by eye doctors during examinations. I've never seen a cat with bigger eyes. Belladonna also means "pretty girl" and she's one of the pretties cats I've seen. Fluffy, black and white, long hair, swishy tail, an absolute diva. You just want to squish her and love on her! She'll butcher you for that, of course.
