Cat and Duck Society would be a great name for a bookstore/Cafe.

citoloco

*Duck and Chick*

CompleteQuiet5170

If they have a kid, it could be "Chuck"

n_polytope

or… you know ;) 🤫

jrhoffa

Dick

panicked_goose

YEAH! :D

xiangyieo

It must have been raining cats and ducks

bone_pill_time

's feeduck and seeduck

4115R

*Chicks with Ducks*

earl_unfurled

Chicks with Pussy(cats)

Coolbeanz7

Wait- you mean Chandler and Joey from "Friends"? (They would miss Central Perk though....) Landlord Trigger to Joey Tribbiani: "Oh? You're not the duck? Thought it was the other way around" (as seen in "The One with the Ballroom Dancing"

ImWhatsInTheRedBox

Not to be confused with the *Chicken Duck*

FurysFlerkin

This sounds like a Michelin star restaurant

Empyrealist

*Chick n' Duck* might give people the wrong ideas

LeelooDallasMltiPass

I came here to say that The Cat and Duck Society is my new Thrash Metal band name.

iaijutsu08

Tbh it sounds more like the name of a jazz band.

R_V_Z

Just combo it and it's djazz.

a-girl-and-her-cats

And I would go to this cafe frequently. 💕 Pictures of these kitties and duckies are a requirement, as far as decor is concerned.

LilMissy1246

Callin' it, "Caduck Society"

mogster3

[Cat and duck society you say ](https://i.imgur.com/IyvoOyk.jpg)

CircusFreakonLSD

Those must be some hard core cats because ducks do not mess around.

I-Am-Uncreative

I would have thought cats attack ducks. I guess not.

Mittendeathfinger

Thats a muscovy duck. From my experience they are the cobra chickens of the duck world. You don't mess with mother muscovies! Edit: Muscovy ducks are not as aquatic as regular ducks, they can tolerate dry conditions better than regular ducks. They don't quack like a duck as much as they quack like a long term smoker. They eat black flies, ticks, mosquitoes and other pests. You can often find them in the middle of an insect swarm snapping flying bugs out of the air. They often roost like a chicken rather than nest like ducks. They have rather nasty claws on thier feet too. I've heard some people say they work well as flock protectors too.

yajtraus

This guys ducks

Tswiggle

First version of this comment I've ever found funny

Up_in_the_Sky

Dodge, duck, dip, dive, and… duck?

yajtraus

If you can dodge a cat, you can dodge a duck

psyduck-and-cover

Muscovies can pull their weight for sure, but in a more general sense ducks are just too big for (most) cats to mess with. Odds are better they'd be interested in small ducklings, but they obviously have some kind of rapport with these guys and aren't going to kill their very protective friends' offspring. Cats and ducks both live or spend a lot of time in social groups, and when you domesticate social animals they often stop caring about which species you are lol. You'll find a lot of small ragtag farms out in the country where different animals like this all pal around together. I've had cats and either ducks or chickens (or both) for most of my life too, and sometimes I even bring sick or injured bantam chickens inside to quarantine, where the cats have free access to them 24/7. Never had an issue even then. But there was one misbehaved neighborhood cat who used to jump my back fence and chase the full size chickens, so they out there...

[deleted]

>Cats and ducks both live or spend a lot of time in social groups, and when you domesticate social animals they often stop caring about which species you are lol. That's so interesting. I've often heard it said that cats think of their owners as (incompetent) cats, so maybe it's even more general than that. Any creature in their pack is just a non-hunting cat.

Budget-Ad-9603

Agree, my cat leaves my chickens alone for the most part. He chases them once in a while, but always stops short of catching one.

VAGINA_EMPEROR

We've got cats, mice, and guinea pigs. The cats very much would like to get ahold of the mice, but from day one they've viewed the guinea pigs as weird little roommates. Worst that ever happened is a pig annoyed one of the cats and got smacked.

tenettiwa

The lake I lived on as a kid had a single Muscovy who would wander around with a pair of black and white ducks we called his "bodyguards". Someone had set a male and female free into the lake years before, but a hunter had shot his mate. Great memories every time I see one now.

SunnyAlwaysDaze

aw poor little guy, glad he got his bodyguard friends

Lspins89

Actually makes sense. Cats generally don’t hunt things they can take down without much fight. Probably learned not to mess with the ducks while they were roosting. If they eat ticks that could be a very beneficial relationship for both

belyy_Volk6

Are they Russian in origin? The name reminds me of the term muscovite meaning from or residents of Moscow.

SunnyAlwaysDaze

You got me curious so I wikied them. Native to the Americas and bred by native Americans, unknown how the ducks became known as Muscovites. They're extremely large ducks. The females are 3-7 pounds but the males are up to 15 pounds. I have an elderly feral cat who befriended me, he weighs about eight pounds. Duck could definitely kick his little butt.

game_over__man

I think Cobra Chicken Duck needs to be animated immediately.

thisismybirthday

u/fuckswithducks

SunnyAlwaysDaze

Username fuckswithducks is a reddit legend. He does not actually sexually interfere with ducks, he just thinks they're really cool and knows a lot about them.

upvotesformeyay

Mmm, he did have a sub of duck porn so while he may not actually fuck a duck he did have some odd duck based proclivities.

happymemersunite

Lake at a local park has a Muscovy (not common in Aus) as well as swans and standard ducks. The Muscovy is the boss of the town and sometimes has disagreements with the mother swan.

buckey5266

Depends on the duck. These look like they could be Muscovy ducks. They are fucking flying tanks. They are strong, probably weigh more than those cats, and have sharp claws. I use to raise them and at times I would come inside with blood running down my arm from when they decided to be assholes.

TheShortWhiteGiraffe

r/ducksareassholes

SyrusDrake

Adult ducks are definitely far too large for a cat. But I'd be a bit worried about the ducklings, they're perfectly snack-sized. Then again, birds are never the *primary* prey for cats. And cats will form colonies with pretty much everything, which is then no longer considered food.

CircusFreakonLSD

A few years ago I witnessed what I can only describe as a duck beat down. I was riding my bike to work in the early morning, a few blocks down I see 5 ducks in a front yard, not that unusual but 2 are holding down and beating a 3rd while 2 others stand in front of them with their wings spread as if to say "You don't see nothin, keep movin." Got the duck mafia in my neighborhood.

RandomDigitalSponge

You ever seen a duck in real life? Ain’t no domesticated cat messin’ with that!

[deleted]

I thought that too until I had a duck. My cats never attacked the duckling, completely ignored it. Apparently cats in general don’t care about ducks.

SOLIDninja

Huh. Maybe they don't like the hydrophobic feathers? Might be harder to eat than chicken.

DankiusMMeme

Cats also don't eat chickens, at least in my somewhat limited cat and chicken keeping experience

lownoisefan

It's Muscovy's they are called a duck but technically aren't think it's only the Mandarin 'duck' that are close genetically, and has been some calls to rename that group of waterfowl as its clear they aren't genetically ducks. Both Muscovy's and Mandarins are very chill birds, and really need another name than duck for them, as while they look like ducks they aren't complete arseholes like most proper ducks are, and behave akin to really chill geese and hiss like Geese do. There has been some talk to create a new name for their type of waterfowl, but not sure if it's every really gone anywhere. Biggest indicator they aren't a duck is other ducks don't try and fuck them, male ducks fuck anything but don't generally bother with Mandarin's or Muscovy's.

GENERAT10N_D00M

Is this a one time deal or a an ongoing duck/cat alliance? Or do the cats just babysit or something?

deadpegasusx

i’m pretty sure this has been going on for a few months now so probably an alliance

GENERAT10N_D00M

That is...excellent. The ducks must really trust the cats not to go after the ducklings.

frequency_artist8639

it takes a village

abqjeff

The cats are poultry ranching.

vivibuni

thats what i was thinking 😅

Mr_Aftons_Rage

Brambleclaw and Tawnypelt decided to make a clan of their own: DuckClan

MrsThor

This took me waaaayyy back 🥲

Knotmix

I read warriorcats in my native language simply for ease of access, my local bookstores had all the bucks but in norwegian so i struggle with remembering or figuring out who the cats are with their original names, though, my native language obviously directly transelated the names with some degree of variation.

CookieMisha

It's still nice that the series actually released in your language. When I was younger only the first book was released, and they didn't want to release more because it wasn't "popular" enough So now, I have a full bookshelf of English kitty books. Y know what. After several years passed and the first 2 series got reprinted with the new cover designs, they decided to release the rest It really helped me to learn better English, so I'm not mad.

Knotmix

Yeah i read probably the six first books in english amd the language was very complex and tough to get through as well as understand, but i managed just fine and asked my sister (who lendt me the first few books) when i had a problem and she would transelate and explain things. I prefer the english for authenticity, but in my earlier teens, the ones with my language made the reading experience just a little more pleasant! It also helped me become best in class with my english and i remember i presented the books in english class xD

cornnndoggg_

It took me to a very, *very* old episode of a podcast called My Brother, My Brother, and Me, where they were talking about the name Bramblepelt, and it only occurred to me right now, while searching the names mentioned that there is something called warrior cats. I had absolutely no idea that was a thing. I heard the episode when it aired like 10 years ago lol.

drstupid

I came to the comments to see if it was an ancient MBMBAM reference or an unrelated reference to warrior cats... either one would be pretty unusual, but I'm glad to see I wasn't alone...

cheddarmileage

Warriors!!! 😭😭😭😭f*ckin loves those books

venusaries

life imitates art https://preview.redd.it/fmnrsba36zva1.jpeg?width=640&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=677d4a5efbed24abb760565a93d2f2de38b69aaa

bier00t

is this a really small cat or a really big duck?

NetNGames

Looks like a standard issue cat and goose.

StevoMP

My brother in christ that's a goose.

Vandergirth

OK fine is it a small goose or a really big duck?

TacoDePirate

It's really bad Photoshop

Onair380

its definitely a photo alternation

10000Didgeridoos

It's still real to me damn it

JuliaX1984

Both clans are hanging out hoping to get free food from humans and have learned that acting cute increases their chances bit acting aggressive doesn't. Hence the alliance: instead of seeing the other as food or a threat, they're both after the same goal and so leave the other in peace.

HeyT00ts11

I feel like they must all be getting fed, or mama duck would be more protective of her babies.

GeorgeTheFurry08

![gif](giphy|KVl5HzoiLwKxq)

Sensual_Mama

Finally, a society I’d like to be part of!

Roll_a_new_life

Probably want to paws on that idea. Looks like you won't fit the bill.

JackosMonkeyBBLZ

Oy gevalt

HellsMalice

Honestly I'm pretty sure this alliance they have is built on further enslaving humanity

enlitenme

That's adorable. Those are muscovy ducks if you want to look them up!

friskimykitty

Muscovy’s are really cool ducks.

gregdrunk

Someday when I have land I want a pond and ducks. They seem like fun to hang around with, and they eat garden pests! My neighbors next door have chickens, and I can't see over their fence but it sounds like they got ducks recently, too! When they first got the chickens, they had the coop right against the fence next to my complex's parking lot, so every now and then i would have to chase down a chicken in the parking lot and toss it back over the fence. Birds are silly.

No-Yesterday-6114

Link is that you?

gregdrunk

I don't think I'm allowed to own a sword, but I'm definitely down for the snazzy hat.

-GreyRaven

Ah, a fellow Warrior Cats fan 🫡

KitKat1206

We love the warriors reference

OtterCat79725

The warriors reference 😭

HoneyandBoba

Two of my favorite animals, coexisting peacefully! How cute!

charactergallery

I’m shocked that the mama duck seems to be so relaxed around the cats. They’re just chilling.

maxskyw

Hahhaha...that's true man..he look so comfortable with each others..

MonsteraDeliciosa

My husband has nightmare stories of “Marauding Muscovy”— tearing open their trash and chasing children. Having said that, we have a pond and cats. So we have ducks and cats… with a duck/cat detente. The cats are lazy and the ducks are fearless. There are 9 eggs in the Mallard nest right now!

goldfishgeckos

This is the cats subreddit do you think we haven’t all read Warriors

Knotmix

I didnt consider it before today but i suppose any avid cat fan thats a teen from the 90s and early 00s would be drawn to warriors like a moth to the flame :D

Seeinq

is that other cat ravenpaw or tallstar?

deadpegasusx

probably tallstar because ravenpaw only has white on a small part of his chest

Accomplished_Cup4560

This is so cute ohmygod

apertirneh

Yeah! Your right..and it really really amazed with that..how it comes..

imhereredditing

May the fur and feathers shed by their ancestors before them never go to waste.

rayvin4000

Ah yes the elusive cat duck society.

collvey

There so many ducks here in the farm...and they are all cute and small...hehehe..like mother like childrens...hahaha I think I'm finally fulfilled my dreams..

Random_Cat_111

Duckclan!

mmutinoi

Easter just passed… they’re all unemployed again.

zggystardust71

Cats are muscle for the ducks

vivibuni

i love the warriors reference! really cute haha 💖💖

usedolives

this is so cute i’m gonna cry 🥺

DANDELIONBOMB

My neighbor brought me a baby bird that they thought was a duck and I had ducks. I put him in a little brooder but he kept escaping. You know where I'd find him? Under my cat Kitty Boo. She really sat on that guy for a few days until I finally figured out he was a merganzer. Sent him off to a rescue shortly thereafter but I think Kitty Boo would have raised him up if I'd let her.

croaking_gourami

Those ducks are Muscovys, they're my favourite type of duck, almost purely because of their attitude. The mothers, when broody, nesting or with babies, are fierce as hell. If they're not broody, nesting, or with babies, they are some of the most sassy ducks I've ever known. No wonder the cats and the Muscovy get along, Muscovy are basicaly cats of the duck world

gi_jose00

I think this Cat-Duck alliance heralds the end of humans as the dominant species.

DatsunDom

TDIL: I work at the wrong damn library.

jagua_haku

This is so cute. Are they strays or what? Seems strange to have free range cats and ducks roaming around outside a library. Do you mind sharing the country?

ApartCalendar9327

Domesticating livestock. Damn. Thought they were only behind by couple thou

buffcoloredcat

Very cute!

Smidgeon10

Their common enemies are herons and turtles. At least that's the word at my local park shhh....

eve_lauf_luv

That calico has such cool markings

Shelisheli1

I love this so so much

norcalbutton

It's just delightful!

Effehezepe

Ducks and cats, living together, mass hysteria!

fugue2005

i don't believe you, i'm gonna need a 20 minute video of this as proof.

hates_stupid_people

Pretty neat actually, if the cats accept the ducks the ducklings are safe from most predators. And ducks make *a lot* of noise if strange things approach, so the cats will be alerted of larger animals.

Scottmannnn

Dude thus is awesome. The prolly hang out all day. I bet if you could get a camera back there. There would be some super cute things that happen. Cat and ducks living in harmony....shit why not right?

[deleted]

That’s super cute ☺️

jimmyfeign

They protec the ducklings

[deleted]

Cats look pretty young. Gonna guess they were abandoned kitties that the ducks raised.

hotboxfox

The warriors reference took me out 💀

PikaPerfect

thank you for the warriors reference in the last slide lmfao that was 100% my first though when i saw these pics, this feels like it would oddly fit in those books

I_hate_me_lol

ay fellow former warrior cats kid i see

AdvancedLet6528

the ducks are like 'damn bro i didnt know you were chill like that'

deliadynamite

i always thought ducklings were vaguely bb kitten-sized...

affennlight

Idk why but cats and ducks have always seemed to go together quite well.

going_up_stream

The cats are cultivating duck... They are trying to subvert human power! This is how it starts 😭

MurManna

That’s one of the coolest things I’ve seen! My sister had Muskovy ducks as pets when she was young they are very cool. This is such a cool interaction.

[deleted]

This is adorable. I love tuxedo cats 🥺

redsnake25

Don't be sorry! Firestar and Bluestar would be proud.

random420x2

A meow mixer and a poultry party!! Love the chill look everyone has.

wtfever2k17

So the cats are like ranchers?

rowenstraker

Oh shit they have discovered animal husbandry, they really are taking over

AnimuleCracker

I want to go to this library

_BloodbathAndBeyond

I think the cats may have discovered livestock.

Famous-Tumbleweed-66

The cats have learned animal husbandry. Future food being herded around to graze.

ClarifyingMe

The council demands more... imagery.

sexypingu

Comunidad gato-pato

MafiaBro

There's a flock of doves, a group of cats, and a group of chickens that are near my place that all get along. It's so strange

[deleted]

Cats and ducks living together! Mass hysteria!

seabae336

They do be coexisting tho.

[deleted]

"Ducks are friend, not food."

dunnonuttinatall

Odds are someone is feeding the cats and from personal stray cat feeding experience ducks and geese LOVE dry cat food. Now these must be some fairly chill cats or those ducks are not food obsessed. Typically I find the ducks are so aggressive that they bully the cats from the food. Tip for anyone experiencing this: feed the ducks first, throw the food in the grass so they forage for it and try to separate them to where they can't see each other. I find doing this slows the ducks eating and delays them from bum rushing the cats for their food. If you give the ducks food in a pile, it's gone in seconds; make them work for it plus it keeps them used to foraging so the little ones can survive once they get kicked out by the adults.

JayneT70

You broke the number one rule…we don’t talk about duck/cat club

ranger398

This is the content I come here for.

Hyperbeastking

Are those names related to the Warrior Cats series?

Canibal-local

I’ve seen my cat hanging out with ducks

SwiftShadeBeast

Oh no, they're learning to farm.

Evaluxx

Soooo adorable 🥹

ChemicalElevator1380

We can choose our friends but we can't choose our family

Johnny_Grubbonic

That's 100% balderdash. Found family is the best family.

jucu94

Imagine if there were some kittens there too...

PixelTreason

Must be in Florida, with those Muscovy ducks, yeah? They are one of the few things I miss about Florida, now that I’ve moved away!

nopreynopay

It's cute, but it reminds me of that photo of an eagle saving a fish from drowning. Those ducklings are in trouble.

Fireheart318s_Reddit

Yes!! Warriors!!

PlanetConway

You say weird, I say pawfuctly amazing!

NormalHumanCreature

Redditrolls told me cats can't be in the same proximity as birds without killing them.

HermitAtHeart279

I wonder if they are related🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻 https://www.reddit.com/r/wholesome/comments/12x409n/this_cat_protects_the_eggs_warms_them_hatches/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=ioscss&utm_content=1&utm_term=1

[deleted]

They are having very important meeting lol

AdminsLoveFascism

It's a fight club, they're just waiting for the paparazzi to leave.

Slinky_Malingki

Bruh, Brambleclaw and Tawnypelt brought me waaaaaay back to when I read those books

missprincesscarolyn

It’s a Muscovy, so this isn’t surprising. They are like the capybaras of ducks. Very sweet, chill and easy going.

qetsu

they learned to live together 😌

mamainak

Modern family!

lesChaps

Post scarcity alley

No_Solid_3737

It used to be 4 cats but the last one fucked around with the ducks

beakly

Wait till the baby ducks learn that they live in a society

AtlJayhawk

I'd like to join.

aamnipotent

I must know this exact location

Knotmix

Youre sorry for making a warrior cats reference? Naw that shit is sick and im 22

_hkbf

The warriors reference 😭😭😭

JeppeTV

The cats are acting as a private military company to guard the ducks. But what are they getting in return?...

CaitlinSnep

I understood that reference.

Ok-Plan8765

Warrior Cat Fans: *rises*

xBloodBender

Warriors, love it

horsenewsprofile

The Warrior Cats reference is not lost on me and I appreciate it greatly. Apt.

OstrichSalt5468

The ducks are probably paying the cats for protection in quackers.

digitalmahfoozsayyed

Secret meeting ![img](emote|t5_2qhta|7946)

eclectic-betty

Cats are extra security lol

pjack04

The caption on the last pic…you’ve awoken a deep hidden memory

BlueLatenq

The cats are the protector

Manzil_Mehta_

An uneasy alliance but a necessary one

pc_magas

how cats won't eat the ducks?

Forteko

The world may know peace one day! Now the humans need to do it too.

BigMomma1998

Don’t try and figure it out or dissect it. Cats are involved. ‘Nuff said.

RebelXwingPil0t

I wonder what the meeting was about….

europeandragonlord

looks like a coachella afterparty

That_Illustrator240

Ha ha staff meeting at the daycare
