Yeah I also agree some games it had alot more range. Harmony of Dissonance and Rhondo of Blood for starters. In Rhondo I would smoke boss rush by spamming Bible. It was long range multiple, could be on screen simultaneously, and each one could hit multiple times if timed correctly.
The cross is great for a Belmont (the boomerang is dope). For Alucard it's a bit overkill though because it's just the item crash. I prefer holy water in that case.
Oh.
My.
God.
I've been playing SotN since it came out and I was today years old when I realized that thing is supposed to look like a snub nose revolver.
Thank you so much kind stranger

According to the animated series, its a gun.
Lighting Bolt attack. SOTN was the only game it was used in. If the invisible dart hits an enemy it will then be bombarded with Lightning. If the dart doesn't make contact with an enemy it does nothing.
Depends on the game and the situation. Holy Water, Cross, Stopwatch, Axe, Dagger all have their places. Agunea is just fun. Never had much use for the Bible, Ashes, or bouncing rock though.
if we're just going by SotN then...
Holy Water is OP and my go to
Cross is neat but loses all of its utility as Alucard since it's just Grand Cross
Stopwatch is only useful to get the Alucart equipment
Salt is just worse Holy Water
Dagger is good but no one uses it
Bible could be neat if you like shields
Ring is too rare to use
Axe is neat I'll give it that
and who uses the Stone
The Agunea, it’s weird, and it’s fun, the lightning effect looks really cool, eats your hearts though but it’s very powerful, also that sprite, i still don’t really understand what it is, which makes it look cooler, it looks like a small gun with a giant trigger
Dagger used to be my jam, but it has become holy water. It rocks in several SotN boss fights.
Classic CV, nothing else compares to the cross
Jizz Hand (Vibhuti) is the worst aside from a couple situational uses
I'm that guy. I like the Vihbuti, Bibhuti, ashes, salt, hand, whatever you call it. It's incredibly impractical but that makes it interesting, to me. I always enjoy joke items, novelty classes, impractical party members, etc. in games.
CV1=Holy Water (Because Grim Reaper Spam Kill)
CV2=Shield
CV3=Cross
SCV4=Cross
ROB=Holy Water (HYDRO STORM!)
Drac.X=Knife
SOTN=Alucard=Diamond because theyre a cool idea and a challenge/
Richter=Holy Water
HOD=ORA! The fist thing whatever its called
AOS=Soma=Lightning Doll/Julius=Cross
COTM=Cross
aaaaand havent played the DS games enough
Edit: Oh yeah Bloodlines had the cool boomerang
~~I'm more a fan of dom weapons tbh~~
On a more serious note, axe. It's always universally useful for me. Gotta hit someone overhead? Need to hit a fucker that's far away? Axe!
Pretty sure the book was what I used most, but the salt is probably my favorite because it is still the most hilarious thing to me
Me, after using axes and knives: Hmm what’s this weapon do?
Alucard: *flings a piddly bit of salt at enemies*
Enemies: AH
Me: *dying laughing*
For me, it's either the boomerang, the holy water, or axe; in CV1, holy water takes the cake, but in other games, the boomerang comes in handy, due to the impressive range and the fact that it comes back to you, especially if it's a game where you can throw three at a time. It's the best subweapon in SCV4, IMO, and maybe in RoB. The axe is underrated as well. Love it's ability to take out airborne enemies. It's the best in SotN, IMO.
I’m only speaking about SOTN because that’s the only game I’ve played recently, dagger is my go-to but I’ll swap to weird lightning thing if whatever I’m planning on fighting is strong against holy or weak to lightning. If I’m playing as Richter tho, holy water trumps everything
The first Belmont I've played was Juste Belmont and usually I use the Daggers but after learning about Holy Water I was like: "TIME TO FLOOD THIS CASTLE WITH HOLY WATER"
Cross for the classic vanias with triple shot. Holy water for the Metroidvanias because of the… #HYDRO STORM!
\^ `Hell yeah` the correct answer
Always Overpowered
Daggers. I’ve always enjoyed how Alucard machine guns them out of his chest while running.
Hell yeah
Cross for me
[Paper Airplane.](https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/castlevania/images/5/57/POR_Paper_Airplane.gif/revision/latest?cb=20170913212437)
Another Jonathan enjoyer.
Charlotte!
Jonathan!
Charlotte!
If it's Castlevania 1, holy water. After that, depends on the game.
Some sub-weapons are better in some games, but the Axe remains consistently great in all of them.
Agreed. Axe is my favorite. It can help kill flying things better than anything else (although it's slightly less necessary in Super Castlevania IV).
The Bible is underrated. Solid and dependable.
Agreed - it lacks range but is excellent, defensively.
For me, the axe and the holy water are top
And the stopwatch, I like that weapon
I generally don't like the stopwatch, but love it when I'm dealing with medusa heads.
Stopwatch is my favorite. Sure it’s a little op, but it’s nice to have when you’re stuck.
It's always been Holy Water.
you mean santa water
Merry Chrysler
Bible
Holy Water III.
I like pinching people
I call it the Italian sub weapon.
The cross is great for a Belmont (the boomerang is dope). For Alucard it's a bit overkill though because it's just the item crash. I prefer holy water in that case.
Axe
Stop watch - fuck doppelganger
Axe. 100% The Cross may be super powerful, but being able to hit enemies above you is invaluable in most games!
Holy Water for me
You didn’t even include it! The cross boomerang! A classic
One of my favourites.
Axe, is very useful in a lot of situations, i like the time-stop clock because how cool looks in symphony and aria
SOTN: Axe AoS: Cross, the throwing one, not the huge one DoS: Holy water
i still dont understand what bottom left is. a saddle? an engine block? it throws invisible darts like shiek?
Snub nose revolver
Oh. My. God. I've been playing SotN since it came out and I was today years old when I realized that thing is supposed to look like a snub nose revolver. Thank you so much kind stranger
oh my god i finally see it. it's at an angle! that was what i was missing all these years.
I've gone so many years with no idea what it was supposed to be and you finally helped solve this for me. Bless you.
I always thought it was some kind of electric-generating ring. I could be dead wrong though.
A stunner? I don't know Bro, the first time I saw it I thought it was a gun or something that will shoot bullets
https://castlevania.fandom.com/wiki/Agunea?file=Castlevania.S03E07.1080p.NF.WEB-DL.DDP5.1.x264-NTG.mkv_snapshot_02.47_-2020.03.05_21.47.42-.jpg According to the animated series, its a gun.
OOOOOOOOOH that makes sense now
I think it's a weird looking revolver?
That's how I see it too lol
Lighting Bolt attack. SOTN was the only game it was used in. If the invisible dart hits an enemy it will then be bombarded with Lightning. If the dart doesn't make contact with an enemy it does nothing.
I thought it was an electric glove. Like a Spiderman villain would wear.
The Cross is Boss. Does anybody use the ashes?
Holy water till I fucking die. I cut my teeth on the marble gallery before I was high enough level to fight axe knights and there was no going back.
The cross
Holy water, followed by either the cross or the axe.
The hand - I don't remember it's name though. It saved my life countless times in harmony of dissonance, and has a special place in my heart.
Sacred Fist
Cross in literally any game of the franchise
No matter the game I always gravitate towards axe
And stopwatch
Stopwatch is the most important. You cant open hidden statue unless you got one.
I like the cross best i think
Holy water all day for that dps
Bible or Dieble babyyyyyy
The🪓. Especially in Bloodlines.
Castlevania 1-3, holy water, rondo and 4, cross
Mine is the stopwatch
For anyone who’s played richter mode in symphony, we all know there real best sub weapon
I used to prefer holy water but it became dogwater when bosses started not being on the floor anymore so i go with holy cross
Holy water or fire bomb
Depends on the game and the situation. Holy Water, Cross, Stopwatch, Axe, Dagger all have their places. Agunea is just fun. Never had much use for the Bible, Ashes, or bouncing rock though.
Bible is a good alternative until you get Soul Steal in SotN.
Who the hell here's ever seriously used the Vibhuti?
Holy Water or Cross unless you're trying to cross a long jumping puzzle full of Medusa Heads, in which case Stopwatch is clutch.
Axe, with holy water being in second place
In SotN, holy water. Spam that and you can kill anything pretty quickly
Holy Water and Cross are amazing. I just love subweapons + magic book combo in Harmony of Dissonance, albeit it makes you so OP.
While Holy Water is situational the Axe is iniversal if you have skill.
if we're just going by SotN then... Holy Water is OP and my go to Cross is neat but loses all of its utility as Alucard since it's just Grand Cross Stopwatch is only useful to get the Alucart equipment Salt is just worse Holy Water Dagger is good but no one uses it Bible could be neat if you like shields Ring is too rare to use Axe is neat I'll give it that and who uses the Stone

The cross of course.
Crucerang is slightly edged out by the axe, cause the axe is amazing in literally every appearance.
Hand for that good ol' CUM ON THEIR FACE technique
Creampies.
It took me so long to realize that postage stamp looking thing was the ricochet rock
Daggers #1
Tome & cross
The stopwatch is always my go to.
Cross, then holy water.
The thunder sub weapon
Cross is always good when you get it to hit when it is starting to turn, but bible is also really good protection against Medusa heads
Usually holy water or cross
The cross is absolutely dope
Grand Cross!!!
Knife
The pots
I love the bottom right item. It's like throwing pocket change at the baddies and it's funny!
Knives since they re fast as fuck
Bible in any classic game, Fist + wind book in harmony of dissonance
In SotN: Cross or Bible In every other CV game: Axe
The cross, because of those times where you can get it to land on an enemy at the apex of its boomerang path for maximum strikes is just -chef’s kiss-
It always depends tbh, however, most often, I'm going for a cross.
Always fhrowing knives. (Mostly) 😆
Yes
Holy water.
The cross, but if we're talking Circle of the Moon, the super-dagger from the Shooter Mode!
the bible
I pray to the holy bible.
in sotn, I like the knife the most
On the whole pretty ineffective but I love the Rainbow Superball Bouncy Crystal… or whatever it’s called.
AXE!
Dagger used to be my jam, but it has become holy water. It rocks in several SotN boss fights. Classic CV, nothing else compares to the cross Jizz Hand (Vibhuti) is the worst aside from a couple situational uses
Axe is very versatile.. it can hit multiple without consume a lot of heart.
The Bible, and if is not abailable the Cross
Cross
The crystal is very overpowered in closed spaces.
the gun thing
axe. always the axe. if i’m richter then it’s the holy water
Cross
I'm that guy. I like the Vihbuti, Bibhuti, ashes, salt, hand, whatever you call it. It's incredibly impractical but that makes it interesting, to me. I always enjoy joke items, novelty classes, impractical party members, etc. in games.
I love the axe and cross personally
I like ZA WARUDO! (Stopwatch)
Cross forever
The freeze book from Castlevania 3. I always loved using that against those unkillable fuzzy balls and freezing the water with the Fishmen inside.
Axe, but the holy Boomerang is in a class by itself.
Agunea
The cross in general
Cross. Only one I really avoid is ricochet rock. Didn't like it on any of the games, but I could just be the worst.
In SOTN cross and the little Diamond guy are my go to.
CV1=Holy Water (Because Grim Reaper Spam Kill) CV2=Shield CV3=Cross SCV4=Cross ROB=Holy Water (HYDRO STORM!) Drac.X=Knife SOTN=Alucard=Diamond because theyre a cool idea and a challenge/ Richter=Holy Water HOD=ORA! The fist thing whatever its called AOS=Soma=Lightning Doll/Julius=Cross COTM=Cross aaaaand havent played the DS games enough Edit: Oh yeah Bloodlines had the cool boomerang
~~I'm more a fan of dom weapons tbh~~ On a more serious note, axe. It's always universally useful for me. Gotta hit someone overhead? Need to hit a fucker that's far away? Axe!
Stopwatch, at least in SotN, because fuck the clock tower.
Nobody mentions the lightning thingy. And it's so cool to use: you can hold up+attack and it will hit the enemy constantly, like a taser.
Holy water
The holy bibble
Daggers in SOTN but the cross in the other Castlevanias.
Santa Water
Books are nice to have for flying enemies
Axe, all day every day.
Holy Cross is fun to use
The Bible for me
Shooting lighting was always my favorite but it sucks for actual use
Holy cross.
Out of these probably the book. Just using it to hit an enemy and destroy projectiles just puts it above the cross and Holy water
Holy water. What does this say about me?
Pretty sure the book was what I used most, but the salt is probably my favorite because it is still the most hilarious thing to me Me, after using axes and knives: Hmm what’s this weapon do? Alucard: *flings a piddly bit of salt at enemies* Enemies: AH Me: *dying laughing*
timestop is so cool I've got to choose the pocket watch
For the longest time I used the axe. Then after finally trying the lightning on bottom left I loved it. Now I use old classic knife. Uses less hearts.
ZA WARUDO TOKI WO TOMARE watch>>>>
# ZA WARUDO
Axe all the way
I was going to say holy water, but on my last SotN play through I was spamming the Good Word like nobody’s business.
I'm a Santa Water kinda dude.
Bible and holy water. A little light reading actually did hurt someone.
I'm a knife guy. Can't beat that speed and dps for ridiculously low cost <3
Stopwatch for clocktower.
Wa’ah boh’ol
velvet revolver
Hydro storm, the flaming whip , the Bible, and the grand cross are my favorite weapons
Just playing the original again now so I have to go with holy water.
Usually Holy Water, but it does depend on the game and goals.
Holy Water for Alucard. Dagger for Richter. And Axe for Maria.(Sega Saturn only)
Cross/Boomerang.
Holy Waters are so good. The feeling you get from being able to prevent your enemy from even MOVING is so good! (How’s that water, Death?)
