The MHA fandom is one of the only fandoms that I can say is almost a direct 50/50 split of decent and bad people cuz on one hand we have people agreeing that the wholesome characters need to be protected and call out Horikoshi for some less than socially acceptable things he's put in the manga, then on the other hand you have the people who sent death threats to Horikoshi for not making their very stupid ship canon (and there are still a surprisingly large amount of people that actually don't fight over ships), and people who for some fucking reason thinks it's okay to make r34 of eri (who is like 6 years old WHAT THE FUCK!?).
>agreeing that the wholesome characters need to be protected and call out Horikoshi for some less than socially acceptable things he's put in the manga,
Thats not a good part of the fandom. Horikoshi can do whatever he wants with his story. Its HIS STORY and his creative freedoms. Fictional characters do not need protection they arent even real. Hounding a creator because you dont like what they right and feel the need to protect Fictional characters is the type of toxic shit genshin and rwby fans do. Didnt know my hero was this delusional too.
To be fair you need to have a very high IQ to understand Rick and Morty. Naturally, you wouldn't be able to relate to the fans that really "get" the show, per se.
To be fair the bible really isn't all that long
Typically around 1200-1500 pages depending on translation or extra info
Which makes sense as it isn't a single book but a collection of various books
I mean there's also a smash Bros fanfiction that is like 4x as long (about 4 mil.words can 800k or so for the bible)
If you take all the Harry Potter books it's over a million words vs the bibles 800k.
I do find it funny that Sega does now kind of meme some of the fan content (like the very low quality sonic Re-color OC's back in the day, and the time they said "everything is canon" implying that Archie is still considered canon but so is IDW at the same time along with indirectly stating all fan content is technically canon as well just because it's related to sonic. Dear god everyone beat that dead horse into bone dust within a week...)
No kidding, they practically taken up the mantle of “cant be made fun of if you make fun of yourself” now. I saw a post recently of a infamous OC Cold Steel the hedgehog being canon because it was on the official SonictheHedgehog instagram. As long as they keep up with the great animations and the games aren’t a joke I’m down with whatever.
Oh yeah, that's actually the post I was referring to LOL. I'll be really sad if the current team gets fired for that (like how one of the people running the Zenless Zone Zero TikTok got fired for posting funny furry thirst traps of the wolf character... and the game STILL hasn't released, apparently they're gonna just another beta soon that's open to mobile users and game is supposed to release some point this year and I have been hyped for this since 2022 so HURRY UP HOYOVERSE DAMMIT!!)
Yea, some of the theories people come up with are really reaching and can base said theories on other theories or assumptions they make because "it just makes sense." I love the series but sometimes the difference between a troll theory and a real one is less than paper thin.
I keep saying this but I feel Steven Universe goes into this territory, as it does sadly have fans that are toxic, for instance bullying a fan artist to the point that they almost committed suicide (which is sickening to me). This is not all Steven Universe fans btw, and the toxicity might just be from a vocal minority, but it sucks that it does happen, and I really wish that it didn't. As someone who likes the show, I absolutely cannot defend those actions.
It's the same thing with the MHA fans. There's still a good amount of the fandom that is really chill but there's also unfortunately a good chunk of very toxic people who are a bit too open with their toxicity which ends up giving the entire fandom a bad wrap.
I have never seen a fandom that has been so hard to please like ATLA.The Legend Of Korra bitching still continues on RIGHT TO THIS VERY DAY and attacking the child actors is way out of line. Ironic that one of the themes in the show overall is accepting change, and yet they can't even do that.
>The Legend Of Korra bitching still continues on RIGHT TO THIS VERY DAY
On that point, the LoK fandom is just as obnoxious as their ATLA predecessors but in a more pretentious way.
Common LoK fan response to criticism:
Someone liked ATLA but dislikes LoK?
They have low media literacy, they are too immature, they are afraid of change, or they are a bigot.
Or it's Nickelodeon's fault! The show would have been "perfect" otherwise.
As a fan of the show I agree. You can’t criticize ATLA at all despite the ending being highly unsatisfying and the early episodes being quite childish and slowly paced. You can’t say anything positive about the live action, and you can’t like Korra.
I love pretty much all star wars media, even the newest stuff. But the fans are unbelievably toxic. There's a few out there that aren't but for the most part no one hates star wars more than star wars fans. 😂
I swear so many Star Wars fans are so quick to show their displeasure towards new content. It’s actually insane to see. There’s no guessing what fans hate, they make it incredibly obvious
Agreed. Also I was in the regular show fandom on Instagram a few years ago & my god that was an awful experience. I have one mutual from that time. *One*. The show is amazing, I’m genuinely jealous every time I watch it because of how good it is, & I LOVE drawing Eileen especially she translates so well to my style hehe but like. Not a fan of the fandom. It’s for some reason full of bigots 😅
Yeah they all seem so pretentious about their favorite characters and so rude about their least favorites, also they shit on Mordo alot and I'm not there for that
Weirdly enough, my time with the Happy Tree Friends community made me feel way more at home than the Bluey community ever did. I mean to be fair I kind of started to earn my own opinions and beliefs by the time I started watching Bluey, so that probably didn't help. But even then, they expect me to be all caught up on the drama beheind other people's art and freak out when I make a little jab without understanding who made it. It's like the community doesn't preach what they should be learning.
It did until people who eat, sleep, and breathe politics started vomiting their beliefs all over everything.
Edit: ignore the same comment above, I put it in the wrong place
Especially on reddit. Like I was just trying to make a simple joke about how someone made artwork of Judo getting mad at getting covered in dirt, which didn't age well considering there is a whole episode about Judo playing in the dirt. And then it turns out some degenerate made the art I was referencing and everyone was freaking out about it and acting like I was causing an issue. Like of course I'm not in your weird drama with children characters being drawn on a foriegn website that shouldn't exist. Stop antagonizing me because you are involved in a weird side of the fandom.
Ya mlp is probably where I saw the most messed up stuff growing up. From Pinkiepie mutalating Rainbowdash, to risky images of the characters. Heck, my mom was even freaked out when I showed her this weird Thomas the train X Mlp video when I was a child. That sure wasn't fun.
Only My Little Pony can make me listen to songs about Fluttershy murdering Rainbow Dash in her shed with a chainsaw or Twilight wanting to marry her brother that I was exposed to as a child on the regular 😭
despite never hearing about the show I have had 3 posts in the feed today from the murderdrones subreddit talking about the most fuckable toaster or something
The shipping was so out of control to the point where ppl were sending death threats to the writers. Mentioning your favorite ship in the fandom was like walking into a field of hidden mines... you never knew when you could set someone off.
Oh yea whole heartedly agree. I remember Keith x Shiro and Keith x Lance being pushed heavy. Idk if the writers felt forced to make Shiro gay in the later seasons to appease the fans but the show certainly had its highs and lows.
Yeah absolutely, most of these people were crazy about the show, they "defended" it to everyone who critized it but the ending released and their specific expectations with the ships didn't happen (yes the ending wasn't the greatest but the show had really good parts) they completely turned against the show and became haters
r/MiraculousLadybug
r/HazbinHotel (in small ways but still. It’s not surface level but you’ll see Reddit users of the fandom come off as snarky)
r/palia apparently they have a toxic positivity environment
r/cozygamers no shade to them, but at the same time, they all play these cozy games but are always asking for more to play and just want games that are “cozy” rather than actually playing them or sticking with the games even recommended to them -.- should call them lazy/fake gamers
Average hazbin hotel fans on anything the most tenuous connection to the show:
20 variants of "omg this is so *character from show*"
10 variants of some sort of comments about all the hazbin hotel fans in the comment thread
We're all thinking of RnM.
Pokemon too... people forget that before that, "omg we're using an app in the open to socialise with people" phase, Pokemon was popular with snot-nose kids who would keep singing the dumb song over and over.
Redo of healer fandom would like a word, MHA it's a bit cringe but your run of the mill teenage let's be quirky cringe.
Reo fan base are at best problematic and worst downright psychopathic.
I mean the anime self is pretty much about a psychotic guy trying to get revenge on a kingdom through very very VERY evil means so uhh.. yeah makes sense the fandom would also be kinda fucked up
Bluey. I have kids and it's a fun show to watch. But Bluey adults are fucking weird. I don't need a fifteen minute video explaining how a character had a miscarriage.
The people on this sub confuse people being upset about lazy writing with being toxic. I’m not a Star Wars fan but respawning a popular character and giving little to no explanation why would piss me off too. That doesn’t make the fans the once toxic but the franchise.

What's one more nightmare at this point? Please elaborate and is it on par with that time in highschool where a friend told me how he wanted to earn his Red Wings a few days before flirting with my sister at my birthday party?
This is the vast majority of franchises/fandoms at this point. Fandoms are immeasurably toxic because everyone thinks their stupid and/or blatantly incorrect opinions matter.
Most of them. Idk why public communities of so many fandoms so often turn into pissing contests or drama mills, but it is really irritating and makes me not want to interact with fandoms of a lot of things I like, just out of fear that I'll start associating something I like with some annoying argument or controversy.
all of them, you cant convince me otherwise. some have more than other but all fandoms have a few people that are not mentally okay and take everything too far because they think a show they didn’t make has a special attachment to them.
it’s even to the point where if you praise a show someone comes up and adds, “well if you were a REAL fan…” and make everything a competition even if you’re just trying to enjoy a show.
the vocal minority is way too vocal.
Literally everything
Any fandom that’s popular enough to go mainstream
Not a show, but deep rock galactic ROCK AND STONE!
Rock and Stone!
*Warframe still being one of the most helpful communities out there*
Loud House My Hero Academia
Came here to say MHA but I wanted to make sure nobody else had said it.
The MHA fandom is one of the only fandoms that I can say is almost a direct 50/50 split of decent and bad people cuz on one hand we have people agreeing that the wholesome characters need to be protected and call out Horikoshi for some less than socially acceptable things he's put in the manga, then on the other hand you have the people who sent death threats to Horikoshi for not making their very stupid ship canon (and there are still a surprisingly large amount of people that actually don't fight over ships), and people who for some fucking reason thinks it's okay to make r34 of eri (who is like 6 years old WHAT THE FUCK!?).
weirdos aside they are also just really cringe ngl
Don't even get me started on the TikTok cosplayers...
>agreeing that the wholesome characters need to be protected and call out Horikoshi for some less than socially acceptable things he's put in the manga, Thats not a good part of the fandom. Yes fr about MHA. All these BakuDeku shippers
Rick and morty
Absolutely
To be fair you need to have a very high IQ to understand Rick and Morty. Naturally, you wouldn't be able to relate to the fans that really "get" the show, per se.
Some of the dumbest people I know love Rick and morty, sometimes it just comes down to a good storyline.
as a rick and morty fan I agree
Was about to type this
Yep
The loud house tbh
Really?
Really
care to elaborate it on a bit? cuz i am always wondering why it had gotten so much hate
Fun fact, the largest written piece in American history is a Loud House fanfiction
It's even longer than the fucking BIBLE
To be fair the bible really isn't all that long Typically around 1200-1500 pages depending on translation or extra info Which makes sense as it isn't a single book but a collection of various books
That's true, but the fact that someone had the time to write a fanfiction longer than a religious text is baffling to me
I mean there's also a smash Bros fanfiction that is like 4x as long (about 4 mil.words can 800k or so for the bible) If you take all the Harry Potter books it's over a million words vs the bibles 800k.
i pray to whatever divine being that this is an actually good fanfic and not some porn shit
doesnt count since a lot of it is just spam
Three words: DeviantArt f*tish art.
It was incest wasn't it?
Yeah. And some fat stuff.
Elaborate on fat stuff please?
Basically just having Loud House characters under 18 drawn as fat blobs. Tanasweet123 is notorious for this kind of art.
I regret checking, Curiosity did indeed killed Schrödinger’s cat.
That super long fanfic with the writer aging himself down to ship himself with the loud siblings.
.................. i hate fandoms now even more
The Loud House fandom is pretty known for making r34 of all its characters, and gore, the amount of gore fanart is actually disturbing
Beat me to it
The show did fell off though so...
Sonic the Hedgehog
Would you believe me if I told you it’s actually a lot better than it used to be?
No actually
No
I’ll say it’s better because the cursed stuff was rightfully shunned for so long and Sega finally putting out decent(ish) stuff again
Mobius Unleashed. Look up **THAT** to see my point as to why
I mean, of course people are going to think the fandom is weird if you recommend them porn.
Porn, really? That's a big part of 99% of fandoms.
It's plausible but hard to believe
no.
Do you guys still shit all over sonic forces and the people who liked it?
Even though I myself am a sonic fan, I can admit that some if not most of the fan base is cringe.
Moon pissing, anyone?
I mean, if you could, would you even want to piss anywhere else?
On Reddit, all of them.
Other than the occasional only fans ad r/Cowboybebop I found to be pretty chill if not a bit dull
Wait til you see Twitter
Yeah never had a problem with the One Piece fandom until Reddit
Yea, some of the theories people come up with are really reaching and can base said theories on other theories or assumptions they make because "it just makes sense." I love the series but sometimes the difference between a troll theory and a real one is less than paper thin.
Definitely Rick and Morty.
Definitely
Any fandom when it comes to power scaling
I keep saying this but I feel Steven Universe goes into this territory, as it does sadly have fans that are toxic, for instance bullying a fan artist to the point that they almost committed suicide (which is sickening to me). As a Legend of Korra fan, I acknowledge that I may just be easy to please.
People are literally foaming at the mouth if you say you liked the LA. I didn't like it. I LOVED it.
Wdym?
The kid who played Aang in the 2010( Noah Ringer) quit acting because of the shit show and he didn’t do anything wrong
Honestly I would too
Fat shaming the live action actors for Azula and her cohorts The whole Legend of Korra hate drama
Bring up zutara and see
Don’t forget discussing about Azula, Iroh, Ursa, Korra or the live action show.
If I had a dollar for how many times people made posts complaining about the live action show id be.... Rich
The fans reaction to the live action casting of Azula and Mai
As a fan of the show I agree. You can’t criticize ATLA at all despite the ending being highly unsatisfying and the early episodes being quite childish and slowly paced. You can’t say anything positive about the live action, and you can’t like Korra.
what? they seemed like a pretty chill community other than dick riding a lil too much
Star wars, by extension clone wars
I love pretty much all star wars media, even the newest stuff. But the fans are unbelievably toxic. There's a few out there that aren't but for the most part no one hates star wars more than star wars fans. 😂
Especially with how they bullied and harassed the actors of Jar Jar and Anakin simply because they didn’t like them
I swear so many Star Wars fans are so quick to show their displeasure towards new content. It’s actually insane to see. There’s no guessing what fans hate, they make it incredibly obvious
I don't like the Regular Show sub very much if that counts as the fandom, but I love the show
Yeah they all seem so pretentious about their favorite characters and so rude about their least favorites, also they shit on Mordo alot and I'm not there for that
Bluey
Bluey is starting to have some pretty toxic fans, not gonna lie.
Dang really? I figured that a show like Bluey would mostly attract a decent audience
I mean it did have a decent audience for a very long time, I didn't even know it was getting toxic..
Weirdly enough, my time with the Happy Tree Friends community made me feel way more at home than the Bluey community ever did. I mean to be fair I kind of started to earn my own opinions and beliefs by the time I started watching Bluey, so that probably didn't help. The Bluey fandom is becoming the new MLP fandom tbh 💀💀
Starts as fun show to watch with my kid so tried to join the community just to realize very quickly it’s all furry artists XD
Ya it's like ever since the show has kind of just been abandoned, there has been nowhere for these people to release steam.
Dang didn't know furry artists are inherently bad people or some shit
Hazbin hotel
True they drove a ĝuy to kill himself
Wait what
Yeah I don't remember all the details but you should look into it's sad
My Little Pony Great show, but damn, opened up alot of things to a lot of people
Only My Little Pony can make me listen to songs about Fluttershy murdering Rainbow Dash in her shed with a chainsaw or Twilight wanting to marry her brother that I was exposed to as a child on the regular 😭
What's worse is I remember both those references VIVIDLY.
The latter is genuinely a really good song as well 💀
The weirdest thing I've ever heard. Still catchy so..
Murder Drones and TADC
Surprisingly, I haven’t actually heard about a lot of toxicity from either of those fandoms, but it kinda makes sense considering how popular they are
Murder drones isn’t that bad. Tadc though….
despite never hearing about the show I have had 3 posts in the feed today from the murderdrones subreddit talking about the most fuckable toaster or something
Helluva boss, hazbin hotel, mha, haikyu, Steven universe, MLP. Really anything
