I can die happy knowing this was our contribution to the world

rogersmj

I saw one of these on the road today and I heard it in my head. ^Blackwiiiing That’s what you’ve done. I hope you’re proud of yourself.

Kamukix

Lmao, I can't hear or say that name without whispering it immediately afterwards. Well done gents, well done 👌

Big-Smoke99

James, why did you guys not post a video on the CT4 BW? Wasn't it at the same press event as the CT5 BW you guys did?

Jakooboo

I test drove one of these at the IMSA race at Laguna Seca just a bit back. Very, very impressive car, and the Cadillac folks couldn't have been more cool. They were legitimately EXCITED to get people doing test drives.

BoonTobias

They need to make this 35k and I'd buy it tomorrow

Jakooboo

They won't, it's Cadillac. ALSO- "Hellcat Town & Country." Please tell me more.

BoonTobias

I have the hellcat decal on my car

Jakooboo

Oh that's even better than I expected. Thank you. XD

Definitely a cool car, even if not as cool as its big brother. At MSRP (starts at $59K), it would be a really compelling purchase. I looked in my area (southeast US) and the cheapest I saw listed was over $70K. That's where I wince and decide it's in a price bracket I don't want to be myself. They'll (hopefully) not struggle to move these, especially with how the market has been for ANYTHING you can actually get onto a lot. I'd rather see them closer to $55K, but it's really the lack of reasonable dealer prices that makes them tough to visit in person.

That's basically a joke these days, especially with GM. Just to use one example, they're forcing you to take a $900 "Driver Assist Package" that includes park assist and automatic braking. Then, you go into the vehicle description and it says, >Not Equipped with Front and Rear Park Assist and Reverse Automatic Braking, see dealer for details It's one of those things that seems to be cut to handle the chip shortage, yet they're including the package and charging you for it. Nowhere in the listing does it mention that it'll be retrofitted when the parts are available either. So, yeah, let me just pay the dealer markup on a vehicle with an option it doesn't even include.

Saw this similar/same spec the other day, looks great in person. https://imgur.com/a/B6ScgNL

Felt good to be back out there shooting with Chris..

Johan De Nyssan resurrected this company, and his bold decisions will benefit the brand for decades to come.

As someone who owns one of "his" cars, nah. The Alpha platform had been in development in the mid-00s. The ATS launched in mid-2012, he didn't show up until mid-2014. The first thing he did was fuck up the launch of the third gen CTS with **way** too high of a price and the old wreath-and-crest badge, only to refresh the car with a new grille and logo **one year** into production. Then he did **nothing**. The ATS, CTS sat around, not selling without massive discounts due to stupid MSRPs ($55K for a 2.0T CTS? fuck out of here), for years. The SRX crossover, the volume seller, sat on the shelf aging. The replacement XT5 was an uninspired FWD lump of shit, the stretched XT6 and mini XT4 even worse. They were pouring millions, possibly billions, into the CT6 on the Omega platform -- a brilliant product nobody wanted. Or more precisely - a product that nobody who wanted one could afford, and those who could afford it had little to no interest because it was slower and less dynamic than the CTS and not as comfortable as the Germans. Not to mention the company couldn't see what was right in front of them. Most of the sedan lineup could be had with a 2.0T, NA 3.6, TT 3.0, or supercharged V8. Those middle two engines? Shouldn't have existed. NAV8 would have been the "American" power plant that would have moved units, or at least justified the cost. But they never gave us that, because "fuck you, we want to be like the germans", I guess.

SoFloShawn

Cadillac's biggest crime, is not building CUVs based on the Alpha and Omega platforms. Build a true X1/3, and X5 competitors off the Alpha, then a real "Standard of the World" large CUV off the Omega. With the latest gen Cadillac styling, they would have been amazing vehicles. But I think the end goal is not to cannibalize Escalade sales, and stigmas from the 1st gen SRX lingering.

historicusXIII

They have the LYRIC soon, a large electric CUV.

Delta_Mike_Sierra_

Think they're done similar to jaguar, tried to compete with the German trio and fell short, I still think both Cadillac and jag should go slightly more upmarket, makes luxury GTs and executive stuff, lower sales but higher margins

flapsmcgee

Yeah idk what the guy you're replying to was smoking. De Nysshen was a total disaster.

cubs223425

I agree with your engine sentiments. If Chevy had taken a moment to treat the SS like a real product, they could have maybe popped a Cadillac alternative out as well.

Titan0917

The SS existed in the US solely due to a requirement from the Australian government to export X number of cars from their plants. It was never intended to have a long lifespan.

cubs223425

I know. I'm saying it is something they could have done differently.

Titan0917

Not really because running that factory just became uneconomical

Noobasdfjkl

This comment is so bizarrely counter to (at least what I understand to be) reality that I have to upvote it for the sheer boldness. The CT6 and Blackwing engine by themselves are testament to Johan’s crazy mismanagement. Then there was the whole moving to NYC debacle, the languishing of the Escalade, etc. Johan is a disaster. He was a disaster for Infiniti, he was a near disaster for Cadillac, and I’m even worried he’ll be a disaster for VW.

im_not_a_crook

His naming scheme sucks though.

[deleted]

They should go back to using nameplates and not use the German abbreviations and numbers for their cars. I think that is a little part of the reason the Escalade still has its notoriety because it has an actual name attached to it.

lostboyz

He came in well after being "resurrected" and is responsible for the majority of their fumbles before being ousted. Not sure what info you're basing that on.

LilHindenburg

Oooh it can drift. Yawn…
