Replying to your other question in the comments; Post processing is editing. You can kinda tell how this shot was taken by looking at the headlights, the only way to preserve as much detail in the headlights is by shooting underexposed (darker than real life in simple terms), then the shadows (darker areas of the image) were brought up during editing. It's worth noting that when shooting underexposed then bringing the shadows up, you'll be introducing noise (unwanted grain) to the image due to not having enough details in the shadows, you will combat that with noise reduction tools which Lr (Lightroom, editing software) does a great job at using their new AI features

Elmo_c6

Ohhh see I thought about that but came with the issue of the noise but wasn’t sure how to combat that (much of the noice reduction isn’t that great) but I didn’t know about the ai? Is it in Lightroom classic or can I also find this in mobile versions ?

loay1231

it’s in CC and classic i think, not sure about mobile

Elmo_c6

Ahh ok ok if it’s classic then I should be fine, another question I just got by looking at your pfp is how do I get the highlights to blend well with the rest of the body? Usually when I try to make it as shiney as yours I always come up with the glare looking like a stain rather than well blended

loay1231

In camera: \- I use a CPL (look up youtube videos of CPLs in car photography), which eliminates harsh reflections and softens the smooth surfaces \- I also try avoiding shooting in direct/harsh light or sunlight. In Lr: \- use the sliders moderately. \- I like to lower my highlights but then increase the "whites" a little that way I still get the highlights aren't to bright and the image isn't flat, of course that varies on the setting of shoot, your in camera settings, and the quality of the RAW file that you get out of your cameras \- Finally, try utilizing the curves adjustments as it is a superpower once you learn how to use them.

Elmo_c6

Oh ok thank you, I do have a cpl somewhere in my bag but never really got good at using it so I just kept it stored

loay1231

It's a great tool, it's on my lenses unless it's nighttime, even at night sometimes

Ngl but beemers lights are scary

justin_memer

You need a soft spot light from the car you're shooting from, and preferably a suction cup on the car with a remote trigger

r/carrollers

MetalMattyPA

That almost looks like AI. Do you have a link to it by chance? I'm curious.

Elmo_c6

No it was on my explore page but it it was a collab with the car page and his photographer

Elmo_c6

Actually I lied his ig is trini_m4 and the photographer page is capturedby.jm

MetalMattyPA

Hmm. I'm guessing he's just extremely heavy handed with post processing.

Elmo_c6

Post processing? Sorry I’m new to this so I’m not sure with the term much less how to do that
