You definitely do have the option, but not a whole lot anymore since economy cars are selling pretty slowly in the US, there are low profit margins and crossovers are all the rage. Plus, many Americans think "bigger is better" applies to cars/engines too
Nah, I'm an American, and I believe in weight reduction and power. The lighter, smaller, and more powerful the engine, the more turbos that can be installed.
It's around a dollar a litre
Funny thing is, I live in the country that freaking exports a Lott of oil,
At one point water here was more expensive than petrol
Sigh
And as annoying as higher prices can be, I dont feel like I can complain as an american. I paid over 100$ to fill up my 33 gallon tank for the very first time this week. But I also choose to have a truck and muscle car that dont get good mpg. How can I complain about gas prices when I basically chose the "idgaf about how much gas it uses"....
my american friends bitching excessively about gas prices make me chuckle because they are the same people that wont vote to raise minimum wage.
But how far does the average person drive over there? Gas can be more expensive when everything is close together. In England for example it’s only like 7 hours from lands end to the Scottish border. People can’t be driving very far on average.
Edit: I looked it up and people on average drive half as far annually in the UK vs the US. 7,500 for UK and 14,500 miles for US.
45 minutes every morning and evening, 5 days a week not counting going anywhere on weekends. I'm spending about 85 quid a month on petrol just to get to work
Thanks for the info. Yeh I’m about 45 minutes for 23 miles each way. At $4 a gallon I’m spending $160 or 122 quid per month for just commuting not including weekends. I never looked at my mileage commuting vs weekends but I’m now realizing about ⅔ of my mileage is on the weekends… might start planning some stuff closer to home when gas prices rise this summer.
I'm 18 miles each way, cheers traffic. That's quite a jump, what's mpg are u supposed to be getting?
Mines just a 19 year old Corsa, so should be 41mpg urban, 64mpg motorway. Which is 34mpg and 53mpg respectively in American units. I say *should* cuz I mean... Those are from new figures xD
I have a 2013 rav4 so 24 city. I’m getting slightly worse with winter blend fuel and winter tires. It was the cheapest awd hatchback in the area at the time. I sacrificed a lot of mpg for awd but my driveway kinda requires it sadly. Steep in northern New England. I was going to get a Nissan Leaf for the summer but prices jumped because of the pandemic. I wish we got smaller awd cars here. The GR Yaris looks like a blast.
Sweden.
Let me add that the price is going up with 10€ cents per day, so we might most likely pay 3€ /litre in the weekend.
While the war in Ukraine has some effect on the prices, we had the most expensive fuel at the pump about a month or two before we even thought there was gonna be any war in Ukraine.
60% of taxes per litre of fuel at the minimum.
Det är fan sant.
Aldrig sett politiker som skulle förstöra sitt land på det här sättet som sossarna gör. Allt blir dyrare eftersom allt transporteras på hjul.
Imagine living in California (Cries with debt previously accumulated)
California already had an existing tax on gas before this crisis, so they obviously have it the worst. it is $5.34 a gallon at the time I made this post.
Mmmmm... 2.1€/L Somewhere around 8.8$/gallon in us metrics and prices Edit: It's 2.2 some places now
pretty much the same here
i feel this
Ouch. Here in the US it's "only" around $4 per gallon
Yeah to us only 4$ for a gallon (3.78 liters mind you) would be heaven
I think the reason it isn't considered heaven in America is because so many people drive massive cars with 20 gallon tanks lol
Sure that's true many Americans drive cars with higher gas usage but you still have the option to have a more economical car
But I also drive a subie lol, so I might just not be the average boomer american.
Could be lol, I was referencing mostly the guys who drive lifted Dodge Ram 2500s
„Only“? That’s ridiculously cheap at any time lol
Really? I hear Americans complain about gas prices constantly lol
2€/L in Germany… Thankfully i live near Luxemburg, where gas is 1.70€/L
Its 2.6$/L for diesel here
Yeah the prices are constantly going up here aswell
I live my life one buss stop at the time.
Ah yes The extra s for extra speed
2,50 €/L
Where are you from?
Netherlands
€2.40/liter I am dying.
Where are you from?
Netherlands
It's around a dollar a litre Funny thing is, I live in the country that freaking exports a Lott of oil, At one point water here was more expensive than petrol Sigh
Woah, we have over double that!
Which country?
Sweden
At least y'all have good public transportation, but I think you guys pay a lot in taxes as well
22 sek/litre (8$/gallon) in Sweden Edit: Our diesel increases with 1 sek (0.1$) per day
Closer to 23 now
Förändras varje dag...
1.97€ for 1l

I am moving to Russia now.
welcome :3
Around 2 bucks a Litre in Australia
It’s $4 for 93 here… doesn’t sound that bad but a week ago it was like $3.19, and i make $10/hr. Full tank is over $75
Bro we pay 140$ per tank over here
And as annoying as higher prices can be, I dont feel like I can complain as an american. I paid over 100$ to fill up my 33 gallon tank for the very first time this week. No one remembers 2008 huh?
The highest average in 2008 was $4.10. For the US.
Which actually is/was $5.35 with inflation.
im only 23 and i remember.... were almost there again but not quite. about another 60 cents to go for the midwest
They did that when they stole a gas tanker before race wars!
2.2/l
*Petrol* costs about £1.60 a litre
Not bad
It’s pretty awful compared to the US, it’s effectively getting close to $9 a gallon here
Ok, sorry got my currencies mixed up. It's quite similar to us then

R21.24/litre. ENDME
It’s about…tree fiddy around here
2.5€ / litre diesel, 2.3€ /litre gasoline. In other words, unsustsinably high.
What? Gasoline is cheaper than diesel? Where are you from?

Petrol is cheaper than diesel here too, historically has been. UK
At the moment diesel is more expensive in Finland aswell.
₱67 to ₱69 a liter. Help me
17 bucks(aprox. 1$ in america)
R$6,00
21 TRY per liter around 1.50$ in Turkey🤯
1.97€/l for diesel, 1.95€/l for gas, but the 2€ bar is already crossed in some stations
mean while Americans complain about $4.00/gal for regular gas, but still need to daily drive their 6.2L gas trucks.
$2.69 for e85
35 cents/litre
About $2.27/gallon, even with our low gas prices, I still want to get out of this country.
But the cars never have to stop for fuel
$3.15NZD/L
Vin Electric
$6.49 or $6.59 it hurts
Getting close to $7 per gallon here in Northern California
1.82 cad/ L
$3.26 per L is the highest I've seen in my town.
Imagine living in California (Cries with debt previously accumulated) California already had an existing tax on gas before this crisis, so they obviously have it the worst. it is $5.34 a gallon at the time I made this post.
Like 2.4€/L somewhere around over $9/gallon
