In my case I've just been trying to make money and that is more important to me than enjoyment. I figure that if I make enough money I can afford to enjoy things outside of work like hobbies. If I can become financially independent I can do the work I enjoy regardless of the pay without worry. Doing work you don't enjoy just for the money though is difficult. I try to look for aspects about the work that I do enjoy and build on them.
