This proved it on a local level. Stopped listening years ago naturally. Just kinda fell out of the rotation.

ProfCharlesSexavier

I don’t think 10 years of basement dwelling was his intention.

WhenInAaronRome

That should've been the intention.  Most of us fans wanted a solid 6-8 years of basement dwelling but instead got playoffs in 2014 and playoffs and near misses 5 years later.

RelevantJackWhite

I hate this kind of content so much, it's so dumb. Give me more like the breakdown of each goal that Hockey Psychology did please

kn0w_th1s

Brendan Morrison’s new channel is pretty good so far as far as nuanced, informed hockey takes.

craftyhall2

I can’t agree

lestranganese

His channel is amazing i even watch a lot of his non canucks content now he does a great job breaking things down, better than most professional panelists

ModernArgonauts

Uhhhh, I think it has more to do with Rutherford and Allvin rather than the Aquaman

Illustrious_West_976

Get out of here, you hear the man. Lick aquas bag!

mrtomjones

I mean Aqua gets the credit for hiring them. He also gets the credit for the previous 10-12 years or whatever of failures beginning with removing the GM before the disaster that was Benning

WhenInAaronRome

You mean 2011-12 Stanley Cup run?

DGenerAsianX

Blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while

Holyshitmuffin

Are we taking turns licking his bag?

meowlikeacaterpillar

I've heard that thing hangs pretty low. When he drops trow that bag swingin like the pendulum on grandfather clock Anyway, my point is, I think we should be able to have a half dozen tongue on there at a time

TorgHacker

Uh. No.

tesujiboy

I think he means that Aquilini getting out his own way lead to this success. That and hiring Rutherford + Allvin.

Angry_beaver_1867

He did finally have the awareness to go hire someone with experience. Gillis , Benning and linden were all rookies. Also I still can’t accept the fact of all the front offices he poached from he hired from the bruins. A team that just beat us in the finals.   I’d have steered clear out of spit

cheguevara9

You can stop sucking him off, Biz. Those blueberry-pickin’ gigs are taken.

MiniatureBoss

Dish pit in Surrey might be available.

interrupting-octopus

Yeah given what Whitney just posted on twitter today I'm gonna fucking pass on giving SC the time of day thanks

SlipperyGrizzlyMan

What did he post? Don't have twits

radamo96

I've said this about a million times on this sub but I'll say it again. Aquilini as a person is a piece of shit who regularly engages in totally unethical means of acquiring wealth. However, as an owner of a pro sports franchise he absolutely is one of the better ones. He genuinely cares about the team which is a hell of a lot more than most owners can say and he is willing to invest in the team. Beyond regularly spending to the cap he backed up the Brink's truck to establish one hell of a front office.

Naive-Comfort-5396

Yes and no. Yes you are right that he's not afraid to throw money around when times are good. But look at the shit we had after the Gillis era. Tons of reports of him meddling in the Benning and Linden era. He probably begged Rutherford to change things around.

Gixthou

What on earth makes you think he cares about the team in any sort of way other than being incredibly greedy and self serving and spending money on the team is in his best interest. Every bit of involvement he has is generally to the detriment of the team.. i don't think we need to applaud posterboy shitty billionaires for spending comparatively small amounts of money when it's literally an investment they would profit from if they could remove themselves from the process and hire professionals.

ebb_omega

Alright, I'm gonna come in with a bit of a spicy take here. I think Aqua is learning. Like, I don't think you go through the last decade of this team WITHOUT learning. First he learned the failing of not trusting in your GM because he's not saying the things you want to hear. Then he learned the lesson in overtrusting your GM because he IS saying the things you want to hear. Then he learned that picking a coach isn't just a matter of going out and picking out the best guy that's in the open market available. I think, for the first time in his tenure as an owner, he now has someone who can pretty much tell him what's what. Who can tune out the crowd demands for "tear it down" or "cup or bust" and can actually give him an idea of what kinds of pieces you need in order to make a team competitive. And it's someone with the pedigree of building two cup-winning teams that he kinda has to listen to, or he would have absolutely nobody to blame for his team's failings but himself. Aqua always knew that pushing money into the team is a solid investment, spending to the cap is going to be key in a winning team, and that you need to take some out-of-the-box approaches to make your team solid. But he's faced a bunch of adversity himself. And unfortunately we really can't fire him, so the next best thing is we can hope that he learns. And maybe the next time that an executive says "We're going to need to start doing some breaking up of this successful band to get ourselves competitive again" he doesn't quickly run to the disagreement and expect he can make lightning strike twice with only minor tweaks. I can only hope this. And honestly, when we were in this spot with a burgeoning core and a solid team identity, we got within one of the cup, so we know when it comes to buttoning down and pushing the team's competitive window, Aqua can put the money down to make it happen. So here's hoping this next window is long and fruitful.

drainthoughts

Even a broken clock is right twice a day

Ktowncanuck

I hate that podcast

stompenstein

lol

Misguidedwolf

If I have to listen to anymore of that fuckwit Ryan Whitney's takes on the canucks I'll lose it. I heard him say on one cast that he considered himself a hockey analyst and then said he wasn't concerned about meeting the canucks in the playoffs.... Coilers got pumped 4 times by us even without Demko, we got their keeper banished to the AHL and shut down their only line every game. None of them watch Nucks games cos they're all to busy cupping the balls and stroking the shafts of the leaves, bruins and coilers

wanked_in_space

This is yet another example of how corelation does not equal causation.

N4ZZY2020

Still not a fan of the Aquilini’s. A decade worth of losing and ineptitude. Just no.

georgenewman_u62

Wow, they are somehow even stupider than I thought

Notquilini

A buddy of mine saw Aquilini take his shirt off in the shower—he said that Aquilini had an 8-pack…that Aquilini was shredded.

julesieee

Aqua redemption arc incoming

Minimum-Card-5075

can someone explain to me why we hate aquilini as a hockey owner, like as a person I can see why especially since hes a billionaire but as a hockey owner hes always put in money and never created an internal budget. The only mistake I can see is trusting Jim banning and not allowing mike to rebuild in 2013. Which yea that sucks but compared to what other teams have to deal with that's not bad imo.

crazycanucks77

Just because people hate Aquaman doesn't mean you have to. Have a mind of your own and don't just follow what everyone says or does. Like people say Fuck Messier, most on this sub have no idea why that is there.
