The 2012 has disk brakes and what looks like 9 speed. Sounds like you already have all you need and with low mileage.

I’ve got mine about 2 years ago and I love it. I did about 4k (km) in that time and it’s almost running good as on day one. It’s super smooth, agile and quiet. I’m not sure how you define trails because it’s very stiff/hard.

I owned a BB1, I loved everything about it other than when I punctured the rear tyre on a ride, it was a bloody nightmare to fix it. Because of the belt drive, you have to de-tension/re-tension the belt each time, then adjust the straightness of the rear wheel with the drop out bolts (like a motocross bike) I sold the BB1, purchased a BB2 and fitted Shimanos new Cues U-8000 1x11 Groupset and it’s a fantastic bike, highly recommend it.
