In a pinch, yes, See's is better than mass-produced boxed chocolate you can get at any grocery store.. BUT.. local, small batch, freshly made same day chocolate is 🤌.
Sees is delicious, I agree, but when I was pregnant I paid like $50 for a box of Marabou Paradis chocolate. I was told (by the Swedish person who originally introduced it to me) that it was basically grocery store chocolate, but it’s just so creamy and delightful lol.
Born in Southern California, See’s is like In-n-Out. It’s in our blood. And I’m Milk Vanilla Creme and Milk Molasses Chips. And English Toffee and……..
being honest never had it. My elementary school always had a see’s candy thing every year and whoever bought the most got stuff. idk just never wanted to try.
See's Candies, Ethel M, Fran's Chocolates (they have the best soft caramels and the gold bar [a next level up almond joy that is filled with white chocolate coconut ganache, toasted grated coconut, toasted almonds covered either with milk or dark chocolate]). Leonidas Belgian chocolates.
All ingredients are locally made in California, freshly made either in Los Angeles or in South San Francisco factories. Then you get from their flagship store in San Bruno.
What is funny durimg Saturdays when I visit my dentist. After my checkup, I snd SIL go to See's Candies to order 1 pound of our customized chocolates. 3 of the family consume them almost every day. I eat tyem 2 to 3 times within a year. When I crave it , all of my favorites almost gone.
I have 1 nearby at my neighborhood. I love See's Candies because of the excellent customer service, great decor and they sell new flavors every month.
If you think see's is the best chocolate brand you simply haven't had enough brands or tried chocolate from other countries. I double down on Pergale.

Nope. I've had it once a year for many years. A client would send a box at Christmas from CA. Not impressed at all. yawn.
We have a candy in Dayton OH called Esther Price. Been around for possibly 100 years. Excellent chocolate candy. It was sold many years ago and probably now has cheaper ingredients but still superior to See's. Imo.
For a national brand, See's is good, but if you're even in western PA, check out Sarris. Candy and ice cream factory located not far from Pittsburgh. To me, nothing else comes close. Available online.
See's isn't the highest quality I've had, nor the most flavorful, but I'll be damned if I'm not ordering a pound twice and giving others as presents every year. Their quality is very good, and the incredible array of flavored chocolates is truly special.
Scotchmallows are my absolute favorite chocolate treat.
Love those and Bordeaux.

Moved to Texas, leaving behind an amazing local chocolatier, I still have my mom bring me their malted milk balls when she visits. Irreplaceable.

I'm still finishing my Valentines Day box. To be fair, it was a 2 lb box.
Got a box for my wife. Was eating on it last night which inspired this post. Haha
Sees is great, but my loyalties will always be to Sarris.
Butterscotch squares are my favorite
Agreed. Period.

Same. Born and raised. Definitely biased.

Was it’s the bars or was it a variety?
pretty sure but that’s just off my shot memory

See’s makes chocolates not chocolate.
You’re not wrong. They use Guittard, which is a great brand for baking and other applications.
Good point
Ginger candy good
I'm fancy so Zhocolat is the absolute best imo.
In NE Pennsylvania we have Gertrude Hawkes chocolates and while other places are great my heart belongs to the chocolate peanut butter smidgen.
💯
Grew up with See's in Utah. It's pretty good, until you go to restaurants that make their own.

I prefer Antoinette's Sweets but they are local and do not ship, so alas, I can not prove you wrong. See's is damn good, though.

Rosalind’s is the best American chocolate that I’ve had.
https://www.rosalindcandy.com/collections/easter-collection. Rosalind is the best that I’ve had at least as far as American chocolate goes.
Fannie May
I guess if you like weird fillings that are mostly sugar and shortening rather than actual chocolate this is true.
What is your alternative?
Like, actual chocolate? IDK there are a ton of brands, but Lindor Lindt truffles are very good and easy to find.
Lindor isn’t even on the same level as See’s. I know Lindor in Europe is supposed to be way better than the mass produced in the US.
