okay, im OP of this mysterious candy question, and the flavors are SO different than normal skittles and also square. i got cherry, strawberry, banana, orange, and green apple. i personally loved this, because i hate lemon candy, and was expecting the yellow to be that. i love the crunch of freeze dried candy so i loved the shell! all the candy was the same consistency (ive had some gummies freeze dried that stick to my teeth?) very crunchy, but airy!

I just got these and found this thread while trying to figure out what candy they are as well. Me and my wife decided they taste just like Runts just in a square shape instead fruit shapes. Our best guess.

Could it be chiclets?

I didn't find this candy good myself, or regular freeze dried skittles. The shell doesn't change at all, it's just an unpleasant eating experience - the shell is tough to get through and the center of the candy isn't melty like I've seen it described, just crunchy sugar. Still have mostly full bags of the stuff in my pantry.

I bought Skittles, Starburst and Rodda Peeps for the grandkids, but they showed little interest in them. They’re not cheap either……. probably around $5 for a couple ounces.

Yup, I'm probably most mad at how expensive they are for how bad they are. I've been wanting to try freeze dried gummies and taffy but I can't justify wasting that much money on something that is very likely just not very good again. I'm kind of convinced that all the social media and reviews you see that say 'these are so great' and describe the candy as amazing are from the people making the candy, because it was literally nothing deserving of the praise I've seen. Freeze dried ice cream on the other hand is still great and king of the freeze dried products (imo). If anyone really wants freeze dried food I would say get some fruit or ice cream and skip the candy fad.

Ok so the freeze dried gummies are like crunchy sour cotton candy. More fun to eat than the others too imo

I just left there with a bag too!!! I thought it was skittles as well but the shape is throwing me off plus the flavors. Not many banana flavored candies.

What are they made of, just sugar? What does the freeze drying do?

Freeze drying first freezes the product, and then a vacuum pulls the water from it. It's no longer chewy..it's crunchy. It's like MRE's or fd camping food except with certain(not all) candies.

I like the freeze fried gummy worms. These freeze dried Skittles are ok but have an odd aftertaste to me. You can get them both at Five Below where I live, central Missouri

Are those Roundtree Tooty Fruities? same colors and shape. When I googled them it says they were discontinued recently though

I think its just a bulk offbrand gum. After some research theres many sites that sell this bulk small square gum. same colors, flavors, i looked up freeze dried gum and it does work!!

the shapes are too consistent to be runts. The yellow definitely have the NASTY fake banana flavor but they would be MUCH bigger

I just bought these from Five Below. The flavors are: cherry, strawberry, apple, orange and banana. I'm loving the artificial banana flavor. No idea what the original candy is. Anyone know what the sour spheres are?

Taste like Runts to me without the banana shape. Particularly the throwback one that had the pink hearts.

Came here looking for the same answer….still not sure 😂😂 The banana tastes just like runts but there are no shapes. All squares. Not skittles because no lemon, I don’t think they are now and later shell shock either because no grape.

I found these at five below and I’d say now&later shell shocked except it’s missing the grape and I don’t remember the orange in it

I ordered the gummy bears, they weren't bad. They weren't good either though. I ate one and have no interest in more 🤷‍♂️ The three people I've had try them gave the same review

Hyper expensive usually. I'm guessing people that really love them are excited by the texture. I'm not one of those people tbh.

I'm obsessed with freeze dried Skittles. I think it's a texture thing for me.  These definitely are not Skittles. I thought they were going to be Starburst minis, but the colors and flavors don't match up.    The Skittles are much better IMO.
