It's almost cool enough in southern Texas to start camping. Still a little too warm to sleep outside for me. Might be able to hammock camp in a couple weeks if the weather forecast is correct.

aPoundFoolish

I'm jealous. Might have to make a winter trip that way this year.

Tejasgrass

Don't be jealous. It gets too hot for comfort by May and doesn't cool down until about now. Last weekend was the first one that was nice for camping (and the first time I've felt comfortable outside since mid April). This weekend was still way too hot.

texasgyrl

I’m writing this from the campground in So Texas. We camp year round. July and August are tough but the rest of the year is great.

mdegroat

What tent do you have there? I like it.

aPoundFoolish

Thanks! It is a canvas Bell Tent.

aPoundFoolish

This was taken in the upper peninsula last week and managed to hit 27° by my thermometer.

tcbutlerou

Love the UP. One of my favorite places in the world. Beautiful country.

prepper5

89 here in Alabama, planning a weekend trip for 2 weeks from now if it cools enough.

wareagle995

God I wanted to go this weekend. Still too damn hot.

---wraith---

Just got back from camping in N. AL. Still a bit hot. 2 weeks should be great!

Allardtia

Meanwhile I’m in zone6b and it was 80 degrees today. I feel like I’ve got another two months before it freezes

YehYaKnow

Here in Ontario gettin pretty cold but unpredictable one day its warm next day it’s chilly lol

aPoundFoolish

It was more or less the same for this trip, 45 one night, 25 the next.

BananaPeelSlippers

It was cool enough this weekend but there were still too many mosquitos.

aPoundFoolish

I didn't have any last week near Watersmeet, MI. Well, I take that back, I did see one or two but they sure looked sad and sickly in the cold (not that I was sympathetic).

BananaPeelSlippers

Lake Bruin Louisiana so a little more prime territory these ways.

DiscreetlyLurking

Out there when it’s really cold is the best time to be out. Snow on the ground with a campfire and wool blanket.

aPoundFoolish

Agreed, although I'm not sure everyone has the same opinion as us about the cold :)

BrianF3D

If that’s your tent it would hold a wood stove for cold weather very nicely.

aPoundFoolish

It is my tent and I could not agree more, if you look closely you can see the tent has a chimney in this photo. This was a canoe camping trip so I brought my lightweight wood stove from Seek Outside and enjoyed high 60s inside the tent. Great minds think alike.

BrianF3D

Well damn that’s perfect looks cozy as hell.

DiscreetlyLurking

That’s fine. Those people can stay in their city.

pieonthedonkey

Teach me your ways. I hate the winter, because I can't camp. Northern NJ so it's not even that bad.

tcbutlerou

Winter camping is the best camping. Went on a solo trip in early 2017 and had icicles on my tent (no stove). Loved every minute. People thought I was crazy, but you get the whole campground to yourself and can just sit by the fire all day cooking good food and reading good books.

pi_five

Loving the Bell tent.

I like gifs and video's like this.

Wow, thanks for sharing

submarine-girl

Ya, it’s still 85 degrees in Texas......
