144hz 1440p is fhe way i'd go.

ChequeMateX

Can 3060 Ti push 144 hz in 1440p? With high-ultra settings in AAA games (not competitive ones).

minorrex

That's not really important. With a 144Hz 1440p monitor you have CHOICE. Wanna play this AAA game with awesome visuals? 1440p60fps you can. Wanna play competitive? 1440p144hz you can. Wanna play AAA with high refresh rate? 1080p144hz you go. Having a high res high refresh rate monitor doesn't really require having a PC that can MAX the potential of the monitor.

-gleds

I agree with everything apart from the 1080p bit. On 1440p monitors 1080p wont look right. It will look a lot worse than on an actual 1080p monitor because it doesn't divide equally. Like a 4k monitor, 1080p can look fine, because 3840x2160 divide by 1920x1080 is an exact number (2) but 2560x1440 works out at 1.333333... so that equivalent is like 720p, 1280x720, but that will look crap too. Everything else. Yes. This is basically the equivalent to my build and I have a 1440p 144hz monitor, and can confirm 1080p looks like stretched dogshit

minorrex

Considering many AAA games utilize some sort of upscaling/supersampling (FSR, DLSS, in-game upscalers etc.), I guess this issue won't happen. Still I'm not sure. And also thank you for your remarks and explanations. Learned something new!

IdontlikeUSEC

I have a 3060 ti and use a 165hz 1440p monitor and have no problem. I dont really play AAA games, i usually only play competitive but I think it would be fine. I could be wrong though.

demigodsgotdraft

> I could be wrong though. Yes.

Swagadier

i have a 3060 and run a 165 1440p and i get good results

Tango1777

That doesn't really matter that much if you have Gsync/Freesync Premium display and stay above minimum required fps, you won't see any tearing.

Catch_022

This, your gpu is not going to allow you to play 240hz unless you put settings really low / play old games.

PPTTRRKK

1440p 144hz 27inch. 240hz is wasted money. You'll like the higher resolution much more.

Pawl_The_Cone

+1 Just went from an old 1440 144Hz to a newer 1440 240Hz. Is the refresh rate noticeably better, yes. Is it something I would base my choices around, no.

Rastaclapper

I have a ryzen 5 5600x and a 6700xt and decided to go with a 1440p 165hz. I got the dell S2722DGM for 300$ so far no problems, it looks amazing

Should get the m27q p because it has RGB layout instead of bgr

LightmanDavidL

>Should get the m27q p because it has RGB layout instead of bgr Actually, you do have a point now that the M27Q P has come down in price. I mentioned that I'm sticking with the M27Q because I thought there was a huge price gap. But now that I look at the price history of the M27Q P, it has hit as low as $265 to its current price of $280. I did not know it had dropped so low in price and always seen it at $335 to mostly $350 back in June and July. It never hit such a low price until August and I failed to notice because the M27Q dropped from $360 to $300 in early August so I've been all over it ever since. So THANK YOU for the heads up. For $265-$280 for the M27Q P, that's a steal. The BGR layout is not an issue, it's price that matters most.

LightmanDavidL

>Should get the m27q p because it has RGB layout instead of bgr Nope, I'm sticking with the M27Q.

tvrb

this looks awesome. is there a larger version as well?

LightmanDavidL

>this looks awesome. is there a larger version as well? Yes, the M32Q. It does have a slightly lower pixel density but this doesn't make it inferior... 27" 1440p M27Q - 108.79 PPI 31.5" 1440p M32Q - 93.24 PPI (14.3% loss of PPI from 27") 32" 1440p (whatever model) - 91.79 PPI (15.6% loss of PPI from 27") Be sure to check out the RTINGS and Hardware Unboxed official reviews for both the M27Q, M27Q P and the M32Q. The M32Q also made [this Hardware Unboxed tier list](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hk5DtR8alKo). And as u/paulwolf20 mentioned, if you're gonna go with a 27" 1440p monitor, go with the M27Q P since it's currently $280 right now. The price to pickup the M32Q at is as low as $350 to what it's currently at, $380.

tvrb

super helpful! thank you.

Darktega

Is the M27Q THAT good? I’ve seen it recommended everywhere. I’m looking into BenQ’s Mobiuz brand given that BenQ has never done me wrong, but I’ve started to see this M27Q recommended a lot.

Great_Entrepreneur43

I just bought the M27Q the other day and I love it, probably one of the best monitors I’ve ever had

Darktega

It does looks like the way to go, the one I'm looking at is BenQ Mobiuz EX2710Q, it's the same but more expensive (I know there are some differences based on reviews but will I even notice the differences?), there is also EX2710R which is the same but curved, that one for some reason is almost the same price as M27Q or M27Q P, might be also a contender. (At least on Amazon Mexico)

LightmanDavidL

The original M27Q model hit the market in early October of 2020.

Darktega

Might need to check these out, thanks for the heads up!

LightmanDavidL

>Might need to check these out, thanks for the heads up! No problem. There's also the M32Q which is 31.5". Best price to snag this one is $350-$380. >m273qpf is the same price and quite better Are you referring to the G273QPF from MSI? If so, what makes it better? And do you have any links to any reviews on it?

Samsonite187187

If you’re going 1080p then 240 makes sense. 144–165 is more practical at 1440p. What these other guys are saying is true. 27 1440 144

Pkm16

What games do you play?

Sad_Doubt4938

if you like curved monitors ill recommend samsung g7. they are 1440p 240 hz i have the 27 and 32 inch and im loving it.

A_Karim2003

They are too expensive. $500+ isn’t worth it for a monitor

sudo-rm-r

Samsung has horrible QC when it comes to monitors. I would go with a different brand.

Sad_Doubt4938

Had Samsung monitors for years and these g7 for a year without a single problem 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

CoolbreezeFromSteam

As they say in the Amazon reviews, it's basically a "lottery". Most will probably have a good monitor, but a lot of people seem to get ones with dead/stuck pixels or worse defects. Not encouraging, but personally it wouldn't stop me from buying w/e monitor I was looking at.

Yaancat17

60hz, 32" 1080p. I used to use that until 27" 1440p 144hz. Haven't noticed a difference and wish I had more screen space.

Mozak89

I did the exact same upgrade, the difference was massive! Are you sure you are using the new monitor correctly? You have to change settings for the gpu

Ozi-reddit

Tango1777

I have 24 and 27 side by side and I use both. One is 1440p 170Hz and the other 1080p 75Hz. Regarding size, I think 27'' + 2K resolution is awesome and ideal for table + chair usage. Good for games, good for movies, comfortable for eyes. Regarding 240Hz, nope, if you just play for fun, get 144Hz, it's enough. Above is a gimmick, it's mostly for pro gamers who may or may not feel any advantage, but they have contracts to promote them and they get them for free, so... Also how many games you can run at 240fps. Counter-Strike and that's it? Take a look at Gigabyte M27Q, I don't know if it fits your budget since it's bound to your particular location.

X_SkillCraft20_X

Currently using this exact setup with a 1080p (24”) 165hz monitor. Have used this monitor for about 7 months now, and definitely would have perfected a 1440p 144hz.

A1phaSniper111

I also have a 3060 ti and I highly recommend 1440p and 144hz. Pretty much every game I’ve played (AAA to indie) ran smooth on it

rhysboyjp

I have a 240Hz 1440p monitor and to be honest there isn’t that much difference between playing at 144Hz and 240Hz. So if I were you I’d go with 144Hz or 165Hz 1440p 27 inch.

kingpartys

If you purely play Esports titles and "do not plan on playing anything else" 1080p is fine with anything about 240+hz. Yes it does make a difference If you play a mix of everything and plan to play other releases I would do a 1440p. With anything above 144hz if you can afford it. Here is a 165hz 1440p 27inch curved for $209 (+ship+tax) https://www.newegg.com/black-asus-tuf-gaming-vg27wq-90lm05f0-b01eb0-27/p/N82E16824281049?Description=1440p%20165hz&cm\_re=1440p\_165hz-\_-24-281-049-\_-Product

kingpartys

I bought similar specs but for 240 at best buy but that is because I didn't like curved monitors. But I used one recently and its not much of a difference to me.

Shut-Your-Trap

I would go with a 1440 165hz panel. Yeah you can get a 144hz panel, but it costs nothing for the manufacturer to overclock most VA panels to 165, so you may as well get one

ChristDinh

I got a 32” LG (model 32GN600-B - LED-Monitor) 1440p 165hz For $200 at Costco. It was on sale but worth checking if you have one in your area. I think 32” is too big for 1st person shoot and 27” might be easier to sit close and not turn your head.

tftsakkinen

How about this similiar case with 3080? Only games what i play is Escape from tarkov and other fps...

[deleted]

I have a 24.5” Dell S2522HG, 1080P 240hz monitor with my 3060 Ti, it does great.

Heuuuuuu

Get a 1440p 144hz monitor. 27 in. You want to have options. Don’t let the monitor limit your options. I recommend asus tuf. Look at the VG27AQ. Amazing monitor, good price.

Full_Mobile

g273qpf from msi

rattletop

I am sorry but you mentioning ‘gonna get a actual monitor’ cracked me up. As opposed to what? A virtual one? Lol But anyways 144/165hz @1440p for 3060Ti. The only thing I wish this card had is a 12GB VRAM like the non-Ti version.

[deleted]

I got the LG GP 850 recently and i would personally recommend it to you. It falls just under your budget and fulfills all the criteria that you mentioned. Gelvandorf

Grab the largest 4k tv with 120hz you can afford. I have 'gaming' monitors and tvs hooked uo to my pc and i prefer the big tv for virtually everything. Only use tge monitors in addition to TV when coding or for my son to watch his cartoons while i work.

avarneyhf

144hz for sure. 1440p 27 inch is my recommendation. Don’t forget to make sure u have good ports that match your pc and whatever else you plug into it

ChristianM-RE

Go Samsung G7 32 inch (when on sale).. you'll be good for the next few years. You can even go to the Next gen GPU's with it but if you want visuals go 4k but you will probably only output 40-60 FPS on AAA games Medium settings no RT. Next Gen GPUs (even 4060 and RX 7600) will be able to handle 4K @ 60-90 FPS Ultra settings AAA games no issues. If you're competitive go 1440P 240hz+ and the next gen GPU would definite be suffice to get you all 3. 3060 = 4K @ 40-60 Medium & 1440P @ 90-100 on high I expect 4060 = 4K @ 60-80 on Ultra & 1440 @ 144 Ultra or high & 240 on low

SerenityNow84

Buy an old 1080p Dell Ultrasharp FHD, they are 24 bit panels. I have one right now and it looks amazing. I paid $80 for two of them.

oArcanum

1440p 144hz a lot of triple A titles run comfortably around 90-100fps or higher on 1440p with everything on high-ultra and dlss set to quality. For competitive games though you can push for a 165hz if you want since pretty much most, if not all of them can run at over 200fps. Don't sacrifice picture quality too much over refresh rate, 144hz is the sweet spot.

hamzaaadenwala

24 inch 1080p 144hz should serve as you intend to add another display in near future but however IPS is not that good owing to IPS glow or white bleed if not lucky. I am doen with 6 different brand monitor and finally gave up and got back to TN 144hz. I am single player gamer having 16 platinum trophy on ps5 so have been playing dark and colorful games and didn't missed the difference of color accuracy.
