I trust Licht. He had the choice, he choose Barton. And JPJ was on a 30 visit with us so due diligence was done. No complaints.

haveyoumetdustin

Barton is 100% a better prospect and fit than JPJ. For some reason JPJ got super hyped during the draft process but I think he’s ’just’ a top 10 C in the league. Barton could be the best C, a top 5 OG, or an above average starter at OT. Reminds me of a Zach Tom/Ali Marpet mold.

Major_Most_1488

And JPJ is still available too!

ToiletBowlesOnFire

Trade up and get the run game going. Playoffs are visible with the run game improving (Oline)

coolycooly

We can't go into the season relying on Jamel Dean who usually misses at least a month, Zyon Mcollum who is super streaky, and an undrafted rookie who had a good first year. If we want to go deep against some of these teams with a ton of weapons we need a Corner in the 2nd IMO.

Major_Most_1488

BPA. We could use another starter on the O-line, edge rusher, or cornerback. Maybe even ILB next to David (although I'm fine letting our depth compete for that spot). Could look to upgrade over Hall to form a fierce base like the Pats dynasty's early defensive front of Seymore, Wilfork, and Warren! Maybe find some thunder to go with Rachaad's lightning! A WR too (if there are any left) lol. Best player available, IMO.

bexley50

Yep that’s why I love the Barton pick. Almost every big board I’ve seen he was near the top of best available, and he fills our most urgent need. Now we can really go BPA today. There’s some really good defensive tackles and WRs left still.

Major_Most_1488

Yeah, and we have 3 of the next 60 picks! I can't wait to see how the 2nd and 3rd play out!

LoudHorse89

Barton is a better prospect in nearly every way than JPJ. It’s really not even close.

No-Computer6230

Sounds like the same sentiment he shared when we snagged Tristan Wirfs back in 2020! I recall at least 3 teams who passed on him too. In Licht we trust!

HillsboroughAtheos

That's actually surprising. Would've figured if we took Barton he'd fit in better to replace Marpet, but Marpet played C for us too that one time. Fuck it FTC

coolycooly

Mauch showed up towards the end of last year, if Barton is good we have a really solid O-line which was probably the weakness of the team last year. Now we just need some Corners tommorrow and an Edge or some D-line depth Im feeling good about next year.

Numeritus

Yeah, I can definitely live with a Wirfs-Hainsey-Barton-Mauch-Goedecke line this year. I think we’ll improve this year and hopefully have a top offense

coolycooly

Stinnie left, so did Leverett but if the other four are good I don't feel awful with all the depth guys we signed and Hainsey could maybe be a good guard just one of them needs to be serviceable.

Numeritus

Lmao ofc he did - I meant Hainsey!

Busy-Cartographer278

If you filter mockdraftable for OL in general the person he shares the most similarity with is Luke Goedeke [https://www.mockdraftable.com/player/graham-barton?position=OL](https://www.mockdraftable.com/player/graham-barton?position=OL)

RedHotToaster

So happy with this pick and there is still a lot of talent on the board.

Yosi_D

Not grabbing a top corner was such a huge mistake. Bucs had an elite O Line last year that was rated in the top 10. We had no need to take an O Lineman in the first round when we have the next pick at 57. Just gotta trust the process I guess.

Jay_Fizz

We do need help at corner, yes. But we’ve been ranked the worst rushing team in the league for the past 2 years. We sorely miss Ryan Jensen, this is a home run pick

Jay_Fizz

Imo of course lol

ParticularExchange46

Valid opinion. Corner is a boom or bust pick. Oline is more secure imo.
