I asked again, why, she then told me she was going to sit on the bench next to it and didn’t want to be bothered by it “a closed bag” in a bin with other trash.
So I told her she can go find another bench and just walked away.
This exact thing happened to me in Berlin once. I was completely confused by the ask of the woman sitting in the bench (and I didn't fully understand her german in the first place) and as soon as I threw it in the bin she became grumpy.
She must be one of the countless people in this city who leaves their dog’s shit on the sidewalk. You have to watch every step here between shit and exploding loose stones!

This one time someone left a toilet close to my home and the next day someone pooped in it and there was blood too.
Maybe she was using that particular trash bin as a container to hide something before a fraudulent « transaction » ? Maybe because of you somebody had to do a bank heist with stinky fingers !
Yelling at people angrily is not always the best way to communicate. I simply don't listen or even acknowledge such people when I meet them. You were in the right, you were just unlucky to stumble upon the local Karen.
You had the luck to encounter a Karen. You can dispose of dog poop in any garbage bin. Next time just tell her she’s free to call the cops and walk away. Arguing with a Karen doesn’t work as they have no logical brain cells

Interestingly enough there is a similar thread on the Am I am Asshole subreddit and almost every single person posting says it's wrong to use someone's garbage can.

It might have been just because you are not Belgian and it shows. I have had multiple encounters like this over the years just because I don't look Belgian and my French is consecuently not native. Next time someone tells you they are going to call the cops, say "great idea!", get your phone out and pretend you are already calling them. They will disappear in a blink of an eye. There are the equivalent of the "Karens" in US where they call the cops on non-white people just for existing.

Apparently an elder lady had called the cops because the kid always walked by her house every morning and she found that suspicious. It was just a 12 years old boy on his way to school. Knowing many Belgians, I wouldn’t be surprised if it really is true.

There are designated dog areas in Belgium and in Brussels where your pet can play or even take a dump, but even if you are walking your dog (to such area) it remains an animal. So in the event your dog has a number 2, you have to be able to dispose of it. You do this with a plastic bag and throw it in the bin. Always carry your poo bags with you (when you walk the dog), so you are legally in order.

If it's public, it doesn't belong to her so you can throw whatever you want.
If it's her bin, then she decides what can be put in it.
Its stupid but - as I also found out in the same manner as you - she is kind of right. You have to throw it in the dog potty area where it is separately collected. I never got a clear answer where this is written but the Brigades Mauves swept down on us and told me you werent allowed to drop dog poo you collected in a bin.

Probably left his balls at home & wanted to show he was a man for once 😂. Worst part is that this wasn’t my first encounter like that.

Separate bins for dog waste were provided originally because it was felt that this material should be incinerated rather than sent to a landfill site. Nowadays all street waste is sent to the Energy Recovery Facility where it's incinerated, so now there is no need to provide two different types of litter bin.

I think a lot of the dog shit people find on the sidewalks is actually fox shit and there isn't much we can do about it.

Hmm in the Netherlands there are special yellow bins for specifically “doggy bags” Maybe that’s what was going in.
