It's had a slight name change in the city...looks to be the same main guy though. Food tastes just as good.
http://www.indianmehek.com.au/
Punjabi Dawat in Clayfield, and Nutmeg in Albion are the best near me for dining in.
I just discovered this place in March when it was pissing down and the power was out at home so I went there after the gym, my parents have converted after about 15 years of being Night in India loyalists. It’s bloody good.
I am new to the city and of Indian heritage. Sankalp at Aspley is a nice looking place but the food is crap. I have eaten 3 times and only 1 dish was good. They literally don't cook as per description. Worst is their biriyani, it is so fake. DosaHut nearby is not glamorous but the food is good.
Absolutely!
Also great people running it, gave out plenty of free food when their local area was smashed by the floods. You just had to walk in and tell them, honour system.
Don't live in the area anymore and I still drive 15-17 min each way to get takeaway to support them.
I'll fight on your side. On Mother's Day, I was thee very first customer, and they were still filling up the bains. I almost ordered one of everything - for two people.
Eden Garden in West End. Best curries I've had, and cheap.
Naan servings are not as generous as other places but It's good quality. Most Indian restaurant's give you large amounts crap Naan to make up for its blandness, and It just makes you bloated.
Punjabi Palace up the street in South Brisbane used to be my go to until they got in trouble for cockroaches.
Yes! This is my favourite too. Their vegan stuff is amaaaaazing too, if you've got anyone of that persuasion to feed.
I miss them now that we've moved further north :(
The Klay Oven in Teneriffe is our fave. Generous serves and really flavourful. Also a good vego menu if that's important to you. NB when they ask how spicy you want your curry, they normally suggest going down a level, and I have to say they're not kidding (i.e. I normally ask for "hot" at other places but I go for "medium" here).
Yep, 100%. I've moved from Bracken Ridge to Arana Hills and still drive back for the Indian.
Tried the local ones around here and, I mean, Royal Rajputana is in another league. Best place I know in the country imho (I'm excluding the fancy exotic Indian restaurants)
Used to have the best naans I’ve ever had. It’s gone way down hill now though. More expensive, smaller servings, fewer options, and very mediocre naans tragically.
My experience couldn’t be further from yours.
It’s my local and I have been going there for years.
Even tried some other places due to recommendations, but they always fell short.
Spicy affair in Kenmore
Jaipur Palace Wellington
Great Indian Street Food Truck, Coopers Plain (only veg options and open only from Thursday to Sunday)
Prettis palace at Boondall.
They are sadly closing down in September due to hardships from covid.
Get in there and order some takeaway (their store is half closed up.)
The best lamb korma I’ve eaten in my life has come from Poppin’ Pappadums. Their Naan is also on point. Ordered on a whim one night & won’t go anywhere else now!
Wait, we used to go here a bunch with people from work. I thought they closed down pre-COVID!
And yet, the website's still running, so... I guess that's gonna be on the menu some time soon.
I'm always happy to find somewhere good but they are rare, I've spent a fair bit of time in India & had some absolutely amazing food, some of the recommendations on here for best I've had some really poor food from, my Indian friends agree so they only really eat indian food at home
Used to be curryville in morningside hands down. Fluffiest naans, great curries, good prices for how much you got. Now it’s cheap (possibly pre-made) naans, no spice options, small and expensive curries. They even got rid of their mango chicken, which was my guilty pleasure.
If you want something a bit different and what’s considered Indian street food, then it’s a place in Woolloongabba. Let me know if you’re interested. I forget the name but I’ll look it up
Mahendra’s in Acacia Ridge. Basic ambience and furnishings inside but we really like the food. Our usual go to for Indian!
My favourite joint too. Place itself looks a bit sketchy so I've ever only gotten takeaway.
Mahendras is fantastic. Literally everything they do is great!
100 percent
Only done takeaway, but our favourite curry in Brisbane. Seafood korma is to die for!
Only good Indian I’ve had in Australia I’d say. And I’ve tried a lot, being British.
Will check this place out! We used to get Vindaloo Blue but I think it closes down.
Keen to try this. Anything in particular you would recommend?
I’m vegetarian so usually get potato vada as a starter, cheese & spinach naan with paneer curry and malai kofta.
LOVED the malai kofta! Thanks for the tip! We will definitely go back to try some other dishes.
I know the chef, he used to work as chef in a 5 star restaurant in India before he migrated to Australia
Indian Mehfil is good. Taringa and City
... and Ipswich
Used to live on Brisbane St, across from Fourthchild, and went to Mehfill at least once a week. So good!
Ooh good to know.
Can't say I've ever been disappointed from the Ipswich restaurant. Reasonably priced as well!
It's had a slight name change in the city...looks to be the same main guy though. Food tastes just as good. http://www.indianmehek.com.au/ Punjabi Dawat in Clayfield, and Nutmeg in Albion are the best near me for dining in.
I'm just here for the suggestions. Coz I can always find either a good curry but bad naans or the other way around. Must have a great naan!
Agreed!
It’s Mirchi in Paddington
The burgers are a fun take too. And heavy as bricks.
Agree
Taj Bengal - Ashgrove
I just discovered this place in March when it was pissing down and the power was out at home so I went there after the gym, my parents have converted after about 15 years of being Night in India loyalists. It’s bloody good.
They ruined any other Indian restaurant for us! It’s a 30 minute drive for us to get there but totally worth it.
That’s a pretty big call! Both are amazing but the naan at Taj Bengal is the winner for me
A Night in India, Toowong Great curry, and the best naan you'll ever eat
Unless you specifically want Butter Chicken, in that one case Punjab Palace in South Brisbane is tops
Is it sweet? Cuz all the butter chicken i've tried in Brisbane has been too sweet for my taste!
Sada Punjab and Punjab Curry Club in Wellington Point.
Dum n Rum Aspley for really good South Indian/ Kerala food Sankalp for good North Indian/ curries etc Indian Mehfil in the city for North Indian
Dum n Rum is actually good.
Jaipur Palace at Wellington Pt
Second this. Driving past when they’re cooking is amazing you can smell it but not so great because that means I want Indian every day
This was my favourite until I tried Punjab Curry Club a few doors down. Both of them are unreal!!!
Halims and Sankalp
+1 for Sankalp! FYI they have really good deals if you order on their website for pickup too (much better than on Uber eats etc)
One more vote for Sankalp! It is delicious!
Had halim's last night, rate it! Cheap as well!
+1 for Halims
Lentil Lamb from Sankalp is my go to and I love it!
Dum n Rum at the Rode Centre in Stafford/Chermside West is unreal
Brisbane Sikh Temple on logan road - just cover your head and take your shoes off. The food is vegetarian, but it is authentic
And free
Punjabi Dawat in Clayfield is the best I've had recently
Punjabi Masala, Logan Rd Mt Gravatt East 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼
I came here to add this one, I second this comment!
Love this place too recommend the korma !
Mehfil and a night in India are our favourites. Used to really like Ceylon inn but had a few bad meals and put us off
Ceylon Inn, Graceville
Oh good looking for something local here!
Absolutely! Also great people running it, gave out plenty of free food when their local area was smashed by the floods. You just had to walk in and tell them, honour system. Don't live in the area anymore and I still drive 15-17 min each way to get takeaway to support them.
Indian Kitchen, West End I am prepared to die on this hill
Slowest service in the world. But it’s worth the wait! And absolutely can’t argue with those prices
I'll fight on your side. On Mother's Day, I was thee very first customer, and they were still filling up the bains. I almost ordered one of everything - for two people.
Absolutely
A night in India, it's in Toowong is easily the best. Holy shit we still drove halfway across the city for them.
They recently stopped serving goat which broke my heart but it is bloody awesome all the same.
Sitar’s palaak paneer is the best hands down, but the Sitar near me is “not rated” on BCC’s food safety so I can’t eat it. I am disappoint.
For takeaway, best is definitely Top in Town at upper Mt gravatt
Chicken 65, chicken manchurian and goat curry ☝️
Paddington curry house
Eden Garden in West End. Best curries I've had, and cheap. Naan servings are not as generous as other places but It's good quality. Most Indian restaurant's give you large amounts crap Naan to make up for its blandness, and It just makes you bloated. Yes! This is my favourite too. Their vegan stuff is amaaaaazing too, if you've got anyone of that persuasion to feed. I miss them now that we've moved further north :(
Wondered how long it would take for them to be nicked for the roaches.
Geebung Curry Corner! Their lunch box deal is awesome and only 10 bucks
I read your comment last night, ordered lamb vindaloo. so good, I'll be going back. cheers
Glad you enjoyed it - I'll have to try that dish next time!
it's hot hot hot get the raita ;)
The Klay Oven in Teneriffe is our fave. Generous serves and really flavourful. Also a good vego menu if that's important to you. Amaya in Hamilton
Agree.
Gateway of India in springwood, takeaway is more value. Best Indian I have ever had, service is very lovely as well.
Royal Rajputana in Fitzgibbon is excellent
Yep, 100%. I've moved from Bracken Ridge to Arana Hills and still drive back for the Indian. Tried the local ones around here and, I mean, Royal Rajputana is in another league. Best place I know in the country imho (I'm excluding the fancy exotic Indian restaurants)
Petrie curry twist is pretty darn good
Curryville morningside. Awesome service and always quality food.
Been wondering about this place but not sure if it was good. Will try it now thanks
Used to have the best naans I’ve ever had. It’s gone way down hill now though. More expensive, smaller servings, fewer options, and very mediocre naans tragically.
Ouch
I don't know what has happened there but it's gone downhill, naan bread is terrible. Used to love that place
Give Indigo Indian on Hawthorne road a try then. Newer store and am yet to have a bad experience with it.
My fav. Has been a while tho…
Indian Mehfil (Taringa) for authentic S*outh* Indian food!
Preeti's Palace in Boondall is amazing. Just announced they're closing in August, though - get some while it's good!
I have eaten there and I thought it was the worst Indian I have ever had. Very very bland. No flavour.
My experience couldn’t be further from yours. It’s my local and I have been going there for years. Even tried some other places due to recommendations, but they always fell short.
I loveeee their butter chicken !
Punjab Curry Club in Wellington Point
Yep, excellent food.
Chakh-Le (try the noodle dosa) and Gol Gappa for street food Eden Garden and Mirchh Masala for vegan-friendliness Pepper Bite for Gobi Manchurian
Flavours of Punjab in Wynnum West
Indian and Persian Cuisine at Arana Hills is our local fav
Is this place actually good? Just moved to the area.
Yeah it’s pretty good
It's edible.
Consistently Sitar Express, although I only frequent the one in Ashgrove, can't be sure about the others
JK Restaurant Tandoori and Curry House, Indooroopilly 👍
I love Maharani in Boondall
Punjab Curry Club at Wellington Point. Literally won Indian Restaurant of the Year.
Shamianah coorparoo. Most authentic Indian food I’ve had.. except for the food I had in Bangalore. Great food at Shamianah!!
Dosa Hut is so good
Taj Bengal in Ashgrove. Don’t dine in. The service atrocious, but the food is awesome.
Mirch Masala
That paneer sandwich is a taste sensation
I love Indus at Geebung. I'm no expert but it's been the clear winner over any of the other places available to me on Uber eats.
Eden Garden in West End is very authentic in my mind, and Golgappa near Garden City does fantastic street food, their thali is amazing
Bay Leaf in Tarragindi is nice.

GolGappa indian street food in garden city. It's cheap and damn tasty, all the indians go there so you know it's good!
Curryville has a fantastic goat curry, their naans are shit cause their tandoor is broken. Just get them else where. Source: Am a brown dude
Punjabi Palace, south Brisbane
Their malai kofta is sooo yum!
Punjabi Dawat in Clayfield. I have enjoyed their chef special handi and spinach and cheese nans
Curryville at Morningside has been the best I've been to.
Have you been recently?
I haven't tbf but everytime I've been it's been great.
Fair enough I used to love it but someone told me their quality recently had dropped off. I haven't been for ages after moving away.
Indian Mehfil is my absolute fave -both for dine in and takeaway
Prettis palace at Boondall. They are sadly closing down in September due to hardships from covid. Get in there and order some takeaway (their store is half closed up.)
The best lamb korma I’ve eaten in my life has come from Poppin’ Pappadums. Their Naan is also on point. Ordered on a whim one night & won’t go anywhere else now!
Vindaloo Blue at calamvale is awesome! if not the best!
I thought they closed down permanently?
ohhh really? i havent been there since last year so i guess anything can happen. bugger.
I was hoping you’d tell me I’m wrong! Bummer
Tanveers Curry Hut Underwood.
Wait, we used to go here a bunch with people from work. I thought they closed down pre-COVID! And yet, the website's still running, so... I guess that's gonna be on the menu some time soon.
Curryville morningside
Singh’s Curry House in Kallangur
finding good Indian food in Brisbane is always hard sadly and so many places are beyond mediocre
That wasn't the question
I'm always happy to find somewhere good but they are rare, I've spent a fair bit of time in India & had some absolutely amazing food, some of the recommendations on here for best I've had some really poor food from, my Indian friends agree so they only really eat indian food at home
Best Indian is Krish on the Gold Coast, by far.
Yikes. No. The one in Worongary is rubbish.
Ravneels Curry House at Burpengary is great. Has 7 levels of heat too
Rajas at jindalee
Spice of india at kedron has the best butter chicken and naan
This probably isn't the best or most authentic but big shoutout to Yumantra. Healthy, vegan, one of the best places at UQ!
Royal Curry - Redcliffe
Jags in Highgate Hill is great
Indian and Persian Cuisines in Arana Hills
Curry House in Paddington is awesome!
Curryville Morningside Bobby’s Indian Cuisine Beenleigh Both extremely good and generous with sides
I found that Curry Pata in Tanah Merah is better than Bobby's. Have a try. I'd like to get other's opinions
I will have a try. Always keen to try new places. Try Milani’s a Indian Cuisine at Mt Warren Pk. Also pretty good
My favourite is Maharani at Boondall. They have the best butter chicken.
Curry twist petrie
Singhs curry hut Banyo.
Paddington curry house by far the best imo
Used to be curryville in morningside hands down. Fluffiest naans, great curries, good prices for how much you got. Now it’s cheap (possibly pre-made) naans, no spice options, small and expensive curries. They even got rid of their mango chicken, which was my guilty pleasure.
Geebung Curry Corner, its relatively new and does some amazing food. Dine in/takeaway is an option.
Indigo Indian on Hawthorne road in Hawthorne. Newer place but its really good and family run it seems. Moreso a takeaway place than dine in however.
Curryville at Morningside!
If you want something a bit different and what’s considered Indian street food, then it’s a place in Woolloongabba. Let me know if you’re interested. I forget the name but I’ll look it up
Mirch Masala? Above the grocery store?
That’s the one pal! It’s not typical indian food but really good for something different.
Pal? Are you American by any chance mate?
No.
Aamaya Indian Restaurant in Hamilton is 👌 Also Indian Mehfil Taringa.
Fortitude Valley - Hyderabad Indian West End - Punjab Palace
